Barbary Sheep Imitates the Man He Rammed Off a Cliff

We've probably all seen the mashup video of goats screaming like humans, but the ram in this video does a dead-on impression of a guy falling off a cliff. There's something about the look in the eye of this barbary sheep that tells me this might be an evil mockery of his last "ramming" victim...

Above, watch molten gold transform into gold leaf as it is...

by rion

Above, watch molten gold transform into gold leaf as it is beaten into thinner and thinner pieces while cold. This clip is from PBS’ six-part miniseries The Ring of Truth: An Inquiry Into How We Know What We Know - Atoms (1987).

"It was the craftsmen who mastered the remarkable properties that go with specific materials. They were the first to journey towards the atom. The goldsmiths slowly refined their craft to take advantage of what gold alone could do…”

MIT astrophysicist and Institute Professor Philip Morrison narrated the series, which he co-wrote with his wife, noted art and science educator Phylis Morrison. Philip Morrison also narrated and wrote the script for Charles and Ray Eames’ Powers of Ten, a must-watch video for all ages.

Pixelated Embroidery by Diane Meyer

Pixelated Embroidery by Diane Meyer

Photographer Diane Meyer’s series called Time Spent that Might Otherwise Be Forgotten is a gorgeous selection of photographs incorporating small areas of pixelated cross-stitch that blurs out specific parts of the pictures. In some instances, it seem intentional, such as people’s faces, but in others it appears to be fairly random. I love the tactile nature of taking a 2D picture of a 3D occurrence and bringing some of the 3D back to it.

Jimmy Fallon and Will Forte race on waves with Xbox One

by Darren Nakamura

Cute but not as cute as robots shooting out of your ass. MS needs an art project utilizing the Kinect asap.

Last week on Late Night we saw Jimmy Fallon and Ice-T kick some robots around with the PlayStation 4 for its launch. Naturally, the Xbox One couldn't go without being demonstrated for its launch week, so Blain Howard visited the set to show off Forza Motorsport 5 and to let Fallon and guest Will Forte play a piece of Kinect Sports Rivals.

I'll be honest: I'm a fan of Jimmy Fallon. I'm glad that he and his team make an effort to cover videogames under the umbrella of entertainment, and that he does it with enthusiasm (as opposed to disdain). The excitement he puts out is infectious; for a split second while watching the clip above, the Wave Race-esque chunk of Kinect Sports Rivals actually seemed like fun.

Sure, CGI is responsible for making us all visually cynical. But it's also enabled projects like this one: a weird—and weirdly poetic—ode to the Pontiac by digital artist Chris LaBrooy.

What Happens When You Drop a Red Hot Nickel Ball in E-Cig Liquid

by Eric Limer

E-cigs are all the rage with the coolest cyborg-wannabes, but even though there's no real fire involved, the syrup inside those glowing nic-stix is still plenty flammable. And who better to show you than everyone's favorite Red Hot Nickel Ball.

Microsoft Spent $100 Million in R&D for Xbox One Controller

by james_fudge

this working with PC yet?

According to this GamesBeat report the new controller for Microsoft's soon-to-be-released Xbox One console costs the company $100 million to research and develop. While consumers may not see much a difference between the gamepad that comes with the Xbox One and the one they are currently using with the Xbox 360, the company spent a lot of money looking at new features - many of which did not make it into the final gamepad design.
