Smith & Wesson has taken their meticulous weaponry to a whole new level with its latest revolver.
The world renowned gun manufacturer unleashed its new massive, monster.460 caliber revolver.
On Jan. 20, the revolver, coined the ‘Backpack Cannon,’ made its public debut at the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show in Las Vegas, NV, reports the Daily Mail.
The Cannon, officially referred to the Performance Center Model.460XVR, features three-inch barrel, high-visibility sights and a synthetic shock absorber on the handle, which serves as a vital component for a firearm possessing such a
The publication also reports that the gun also boasts a massive chamber to fit the colossal.460 caliber rounds, which are classified as some of the world’s largest and most powerful bullets. However, the handgun is also compatible with 454 Casull rounds and.45 Long Colt ammo.
Smith & Wesson representative Paul Pluff also weighed in with Military.com to some quick details in reference to the revolver. It’s a very comfortable gun to shoot,” said Pluff to the publication. “It’s great for a back-up gun in the back-country, or even for hunting if you’re going after some pigs or hogs or anything like that.”
The company has high expectations for the Backpack Cannon as a prospective means of reigniting consumer interest in revolvers. The manufacturer also acknowledged that pistols and revolvers are now considered secondary selections for self defense due to the elevated interest in high-capacity semi-automatic guns. So, hopefully the.460 caliber revolver peaks the interest of consumers.
As one of the most lauded gun shows in the United States, the prestigious event is considered the most inclusive platform for uniquely diverse Law Enforcement and Armed Forces, which is why the event chosen for the big reveal. The event also boasts more than an estimated 60,000 firearm fans each year.
The.460 caliber revolver is retailed at an estimated $1,200. However, the company primary market concentration is directed toward private defense sectors and law enforcement agencies.
“There is still a place for weapons like this, especially if you like camping where the critters are big enough to eat you,” Smith & Wesson said.
Rumors are flying around the internet that Nintendo is already hard at work on their next console and it is called the Nintendo Fusion. Two products are specifically mentioned: Fusion DS and Fusion Terminal.
Nintendo News received an anonymous tip from a reputable source involving the next generation hardware from Nintendo which will encompass both the hand held devices and home consoles. Nintendo’s Wii U console, the first of the 8th Generation has not been doing well. It is an unmitigated disaster. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold more consoles in their first 2 months than the Wii U has sold during its year long lead on the competition. The biggest third-party studios have all but abandoned it and if Eurogamer’sinside source is correct, Nintendo either doesn’t seem to care or is so traditional in its management that the market may have finally outpaced the house that Mario built.
As we reported earlier, the Wii U is estimated to sell 2.8 million units by the end of Nintendo’s fiscal year which is in March 2014. The original estimate was a low, but respectable 9 million making the new forecast dire indeed. As a comparison, the Wii U sold 3.45 million units in its first year before the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were released making this news all but a death knell for the embattled console. A total loss of well over $250 million is expected when a profit was expected on modest sales of the Wii U and the strong sales of the handheld 3DS.
During the last financial call, Nintendo stated that they are funneling money into R&D with “new research and development activities.” From there the rumor mill has been flying to see if Nintendo would take a drastic cut on the Wii U’s price or if they would rush a new console out to market that could compete with the PS4 and Xbox in both power and development ease.
The first bit of information that Nintendo News pointed out was a domain purchase by Nintendo of nintendofusion.com back in May of 2003. The domain was purchased through the same registrar Nintendo has always used, Melbourne IT Ltd. While this is not exactly conclusive evidence as there was a promotional tour called Nintendo Fusion which ended back in 2006 and the site is currently not active.
The information that is very specific is a set of tech specs which you can view below. While these are very specific details that come from a reliable source according to Nintendo News they also caution against any quick judgements of legitimacy. The site has a very high record of vetting sources and providing reliable early news breaks so the information can be given more than a passing glance. And the specs are very promising. However Gamesbeat has a reaction pointing out some of the technical discrepancies in the specifications which would appeal to some of the more technically minded readers.
This would not be the first time we have seen this idea. Sony has made great strides with fusing the PS Vita with the PlayStation 4. Being able to play your PS4 while on the road with your PS Vita, or use it as a second screen have given new life to Sony’s handheld. With the Nintendo Fusion we may see something similar as comparisons between the Wii U dual screen environment and the 3DS are not without merit.
As with all anonymous sources, everything should be taken with a grain of salt if not a whole shaker. Console rumors and fake specifications are nothing new, but with Nintendo’s recent financial statements it is a good talking point.
Oculus Rift is amazing in that it lets you experience other worlds beautifully and immersively. And, in this project by BeAnotherLabs, it's letting users experience a few minutes as the opposite gender. (Warning: some nudity ahead).

I'm a huge fan of the 1973 movie, starring Charlton Heston and Edward G Robinson. (It was Robinson's final film, and he gave a great performance as Heston's elderly pal, Sol). Chuck Braverman's opening title sequence is a classic piece of 1970s filmmaking. The movie is based on a science fiction novel called Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison, which I read in a single summer day when I was in the 7th grade
I'm glad I didn't know about this auction until it was over, otherwise I might have been stupid enough to buy it.
It turns out that if you remove the cowling from a CT scanner, you get something that looks like a cross between a Stargate and a whirling Katamari Damacy. It's pretty mesmerizing to watch.
Last week, Nintendo revised its annual sales forecast for the Wii U, dropping it from 9 million units to 2.8 million, and president Satoru Iwata said something I've been waiting for him to say for a while: "We are thinking about a new business structure." In a press conference on Friday, he made another remark many of us will be elated to hear.
"The spread of smart devices does not spell the end of game consoles," said Iwata. "It's not that simple ... It doesn't mean that we should put Mario on smartphones."
He believes Nintendo needs to leverage these devices to make consumers aware of the company's titles and encourage them to play on a game console. Sure. More than anything, though, I hope this situation causes Nintendo to rethink its online infrastructure, including game purchases being tied to hardware and Virtual Console not living up to its full potential.
Pikachu is usually the cutest and most loveable of all the Pokémon, but not this time. Here he’s the stuff of nightmares. He’s got his cute little head, or part of it anyway, but it’s all attached to a caterpillar-facehugger hybrid thing that simply cant’ be unseen. I’m sleeping with the light on tonight.
Super Data Research has released their digital sales review of 2013, analyzing how much revenue was made from free-to-play, mobile, console, and PC digital content. In the free-to-play category, the top ten games based on revenues worldwide made a total of $3.574 billion. Yes, billion.
The top earner was CrossFire at $957 million, a free-to-play first-person shooter you've probably never heard of. League of Legends came in at second with $624 million, and Nexon's Dungeon Fighter Online came in at third with $426 million.
Other top earners include World of Tanks at $372 million, World of Warcraft with $213 million, Star Wars: The Old Republic with $139 million, and Team Fortress 2 at $139 million. Most impressive to me is that Lineage I, a game that's been out for 14 years now, made another $257 million last year.
Impressive, if not a little disheartening. There's additional stats worth checking out on Super Data Research, just brace yourself at the mobile section when you see how much Candy Crush Saga makes every single day.
