Rianna's Vivid Duct Tape Art

Do you have a problem? So as long as you have duct tape, you also have a solution. Rianna had a problem: she needed a new artistic medium. Duct tape, of course, provided the solution. She makes gripping, colorful, and precise images using just duct tape.

Rianna takes inspiration from popular culture, especially comic books and science fiction. Her work is so perfectly executed that I would never have guessed that her medium is duct tape if she didn't say it.

Sunday Supper: Short Rib, Caramelized Onion, and Gouda Grilled Cheese

This insanely delicious sandwich requires a little more prep work than most but it is absolutely worth it: Filled with juicy, shredded beef short rib, sweet and tender caramelized onions, melted Gouda cheese, and a sharp mustard sauce, then tucked into griddled marbled rye bread, they're far more than just an easy snack. This is an indulgent meal unto itself. Read More
Narcissist in chief raises hand during group photo AGAIN

Narcissist-in-chief raises his hand during group photo again. This time at the NATO Summit in Wales. Whoever that poor sap is behind him, face covered by Obama’s hand, let’s hope his country doesn’t have nuclear missiles.
When my dog sits like this, we call him fancy feet.

Teller From Penn and Teller Reveals Some of His Magic Secrets

There are usually two schools when it comes to magic. People who hate it, and people who enjoy it. There rarely seems to be anyone who is in the middle of that. But even for the most jaded non-magic fans, there has to be a certain allure to Penn and Teller and just how they satirize exactly what they do so well. The thing is, we are all used to hearing Penn do the talking, and Teller be the silent one (please note the irony in names). Well, The Smithsonian has an amazing article about magic written by Teller himself, in his own words.
While the article itself may be a few years old, safe to say most missed out on this little gem of an article written by one of magic's better halfs (so well known for never saying a word). It is nice to read some of his idealogies on magic and finally get some insight into how the quiet half of Penn and Teller thinks.
Heck, I'd even recommend those not into magic check the piece out. It just might give you a new apprecation for just what these guys do. They are the anti-magic magicians. That pretty much makes them the most punk rock magicians who ever existed.
My thoughts as a college professor when a student handed in an essay containing no punctuation, referencing, was in in lower-case, and was 15% of the required word count.

Moonbow Beach
Moonbow Beach
Like a rainbow at night,
a beautiful moonbow shines above the western horizon in this
deserted beach scene from Molokai Island,
Hawaii,
USA, planet Earth.
Captured last June 17 in early morning hours, the lights along
the horizon are from Honolulu and cities on the island of Oahu
some 30 miles away.
So where was the Moon?
A rainbow is
produced by sunlight internally reflected in
rain drops from the direction
opposite the Sun
back toward the observer.
As the light passes from air to water and back to air again, longer
wavelengths are refracted (bent) less than shorter ones
resulting in the separation of colors.
And so the moonbow is produced as raindrops reflect moonlight
from the direction opposite the Moon.
That puts the Moon directly behind the photographer,
still low and rising over the eastern horizon,
a few days past
its full phase.
