I'm conflicted since I already played the hell out it. Depends on how much is remade/added.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Will Have A More User-Friendly Quest Interface

by Ishaan
Paul Brownlee

I'm just hoping the quests will have more variety from "kill x number of y's" or "collect n dobydad feathers". After doing (almost) all of them, that got really tedious.

Xenoblade Chronicles X for Wii U will be a more “user-friendly experience” than Xenoblade in terms of quests.

Death threats drive Anita Sarkeesian from her home

by Cory Doctorow
Paul Brownlee

You gotta wonder what the fuck is wrong with people sometimes.

Anita Sarkeesian, whose excellent Tropes vs Women in Video Games series is an important contribution to the discussion of gender and games, has been driven from her home by enraged male gamers whose stalking, and explicit, credible threats of sexual violence against her and her family convinced her to go into hiding. PS Plus: Preview September’s Free Game Lineup

by Kristine Steimer
Paul Brownlee

Playstation All Stars (was that already on Plus before?) and TxK sound good.

There’s a little bit of déjà vu going on as our PlayStation Plus members will once again receive two games free the day they hit the PlayStation Store – Velocity 2X on PS4 and Joe Danger’s release on PS Vita. Of course, there are other great titles including Sportsfriends on PS4, PS All Stars Battle Royale and Hoard on PS3 and TxK on PS Vita.

On PS4, Plus members will be able to download Velocity 2X and Sportsfriends. Velocity 2X is the sequel to Velocity Ultra and features arcade shooting and puzzle platforming with a cool teleportation mechanic. Sportsfriends is the perfect title to complement your parties, as it features 4 mini-games – BaraBariBall, Hokra, Super Pole Riders and Johann Sebastian Joust– to bring out the competitive side in everyone.

For PlayStation 3 owners, you can nab PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, the game where you can get together with friends and pit PlayStation characters like Sly Cooper and Kratos against each other. And Hoard, an action-strategy title where you’ll play as a dragon attempting to get as much gold as possible.

PlayStation Vita owners can pick up Joe Danger for the first time on the platform and enjoy some good old fashioned stunt racing, as well as TxK, a remake of the classic arcade shooter Tempest.

All of these games will be free for Plus members starting September 2nd. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video below.

All the games are playable with the DualShock®4 wireless controller, while Johann Sebastian Joust can be further enhanced by the PlayStation Move Motion Controller (sold separately).

TxK
TxK (PS Vita)

Free for PS Plus members

Comcast Tells Government That Its Data Caps Aren't Actually "Data Caps"

by Unknown Lamer
Paul Brownlee

Comcast is just boldly fucking shitty now.

mpicpp (3454017) writes with this excerpt from Ars Technica about Comcast's data caps that aren't data caps:Customers must pay more if they exceed limits — but it's not a cap, Comcast says. For the past couple of years, Comcast has been trying to convince journalists and the general public that it doesn't impose any "data caps" on its Internet service. ... That's despite the fact that Comcast in some cities enforces limits on the amount of data customers can use and issues financial penalties for using more than the allotment. Comcast has said this type of billing will probably roll out to its entire national footprint within five years, perhaps alongside a pricier option to buy unlimited data. ... Comcast's then-new approach was touted to "effectively offer unlimited usage of our services because customers will have the ability to buy as much data as they want."

How practice changes the brain and exceptions to the 10,000 hour rule

by David McRaney

I Used to Watch Video Games

by Steve Napierski
Paul Brownlee

I used to do this with my cousin. Now I find watching other people play games to be less appealing.

I Used to Watch Video Games I used to be able to watch other people play video games, as a kid, and still enjoy myself. Today...Not so much.

Just the other day, my youngest daughter was playing Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess for the Playstation 2. I know this horrible game played a major factor in it, but it was borderline excruciating. Then again, she is five and I am not.

When I was five, I was playing Donkey Kong and Smurfs on the ColecoVision and it probably wasn't much more fun to watch, than this. I guess it really depends on the game and who is playing it, as well.
