There are a number of cookies that I try not to make too often. This is not because they are difficult or time-consuming, but because they get consumed way too fast in our household!

Casa Ceramica Tile Company has created a wonderfully wild if not slightly dizzying Alice and Wonderland themed, tile floor curving optical illusion welcoming guests to their Manchester, UK showroom. As guests come in, the floor in the entrance way appears to swoop downward and then upward again. Per a video posted by Casa Ceramica, this is an illusion made entirely of tiles. This entry way became very well after Duncan Cook, the owner of Casa Ceramica, replied to a tweet about a dizzying carpet pattern.

I have strong opinions about IKEA: If I'm going to navigate that maze of room displays that culminates in an endless sea of stacked boxes, the trip had better be worth it. I'm never going to pop in for a few plates and plastic sandwich bags. (Mostly because one can not simply "stop by" an IKEA.)

So when the announcement came of the Swedish mass producer's collaboration with Rolf and Mette Hay, the husband-and-wife team behind top Danish design firm HAY, I got excited about the possibilities. Seems like something totally worth the trip (read: expedition)!

On September 27, 2017, Tim Newton of Anchorage, Alaska, awoke to strange noises he heard outside . When he went to investigate, he discovered a mama lynx and her seven adorable kits just hanging out on his back deck, exploring the environment. Being that Newton is a professional photographer, he immediately grabbed his camera and began capturing everything that was happening during this wonderful morning of surprises. From the photos, it looks like a good time was had by all.

Danish architecture firm EFFEKT has created an absolutely beautiful way to experience the Gisselfeld Klosters Skove preserved forest with their exquisitely designed “Camp Adventure Treetop Experience“, a 600 meter circular wooden ramp that gently rises within the forest up to the observation deck, which 45 meters in the air providing for a stunning bird’s eye view of the trees.

The culminating feature of the treetop walk is the tower and observation deck located 45 meters above the ground. The geometry of the tower is shaped to enhance the visitor experience, shunning the typical cylindrical shape in favor of a curved profile with a slender waist and enlarged base and crown. This does not only increase the stability of the tower but also increase the observation deck area at the top of the tower. Furthermore it also allows for better contact to the forest canopy.
