Man, that is some serious finger hair. Oh, and a cool ring.

Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Geordi La Forge wore a VISOR from a young age to help him see. And now, thanks to a creative style from Etsy seller Eyephoria Design, you can wear the memorable device around your finger. Harry Potter As Told By People Who Have Never Seen The Movies Or Read the Books [Video]

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

This is... so great.

harry potter video top

It may be hard for witches and wizards like you and me to believe, but there are muggles out there who have never seen or read Harry Potter. I know. BuzzFeed rounded up some individuals who are in the dark and asked them what they do know about the Harry Potter story.

As you’d guess, the results are hilarious. One guy thinks Harry got his forehead scar from a dragon, another guy thinks Ron’s name is Jacob. Even with all their silly ideas, I’m surprised by how many terms they do know. Just goes to show how much Harry Potter has permeated society.

Gotham Fashion On The Runway [Video]

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

Eh. High fashion still doesn't work, not even with Batman accessories.

high fashion nerd 1

Geeky designs made a splash at Fashion Week. We saw beautiful Star Wars dresses from Rodarte, and it looks like The Blonds have taken inspiration from the streets of Gotham City. Some of the designs were obvious – like the Catwoman full bodysuit pictured above – and other ensembles just carried the essence of Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery. One of the most striking pieces is a white dress featuring sparkling red lips a la the Joker. The design, captioned “Why so serious?” is paired with a green wrap. The model wearing that design has some epic nail art to go with them.

All-in-all, the entire collection is a great example of how nerdery mixes with high fashion.

See more wicked styles and a video featuring the collection after the break.

Topher Grace Releases A Trailer For His Legendary Edited Version Of The Star Wars Prequels

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

Fun trailer.

star wars prequels

Two years ago, Topher Grace chopped up the three Star Wars prequels into a legendary 85-minute film. His version, Star Wars III.5: The Editor Strikes Back, was only shown once and just to a select group of friends and press. He apparently dumped most of the footage from Episode I and recut Episodes II and III to focus on Anakin’s fall to the Dark side and his relationship with Padmé. Though it doesn’t sound like we’ll ever see the full cut, Grace has released a trailer for the project in an attempt to appease (or torture) curious fans.

Check out the video on Topher’s site, Cereal Prize.

As many of you know, I recently purchased an Uruk-Hai scimitar.

Saw this in Dan's shared posts, and man. It's so good.

Well let me tell you, it was quite the pragmatic purchase. It has endless uses in my morning routine.

Such as making the bed:

Geek Girl Owns A Dudebro In This Comic

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

Check this one out, Molly.

DorkTower1182b_header

It doesn’t happen often, but there are times when I still get questioned by guys when I wear a nerd t-shirt. It gets old. Like, want-to-punch-the-person-in-the-face old. John Kovalic tackles a similar situation in a recent edition of his Dork Tower comic. His character Gilly handles a dudebro asking about her Batgirl shirt and her geek authenticity with wit and hilarity. I can’t wait to sick burn someone next time they ask if I really like Star Wars.

President Obama: “We’re Building Iron Man” [Video]

by Geek Girl Diva
Tom Wright

Well, there you have it. Next up, The Flash.

IRON-MAN-3-Barack-Obama-Poster

President Obama recently announced a new military initiative that should be of interest to us all. Specifically, he said “We’re building Iron Man”.

Sure, he tried to downplay it after he said it. I’m sure it just slipped out and then he had to cover, but we have a theory that there’s more going on here than the President may be suggesting.

Head after the break for the evidence.

Use This Guide To Choose The Perfect Dinosaur Pet

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

Well, Molly, it doesn't look like any of these are a win-win-win. I guess we should go with a Pteradactyl.

dino pet guide

Admit it. When you watched Jurassic Park, you briefly considered which of the dinosaurs might make good pets. You have several factors to consider if you’re thinking about taking the plunge and adopting a pet dinosaur. There’s the size, dietary requirements, how much exercise they need, and oh – how likely they are to eat you for dinner. Luckily for you, artist John Conway breaks down the pros and cons of seven different dinosaur species in a handy poster. Read it and then you can head to the dino pet shop with confidence.

Wear This T-Shirt If You Have The Guts To Be A Zelda Troll

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

Funny. And telling, the the titular character was the one who needed rescuing.

What-if-Zelda-was-a-girl-T-Shirt

Want to troll fans of The Legend of Zelda in an amusing way? Just wear this t-shirt. It features a femme version of Link but asks, “What if Zelda was a girl?” I admit, it threw me off for a second. I love the idea, but if you wore it to a convention, you’d probably spend a fair amount of time explaining to angry people that you know Zelda is already a girl and doesn’t wear Link’s clothing. To get an idea of what you’d be in store for, read the comments on the product page. They’re hilarious.

This 4-Year Old Is Making Dresses Out Of Paper That Will Blow Your Mind

by Geek Girl Diva
Tom Wright

Molly, how Project Runway is this little girl?

paper dresses 5

Meet 4-year old fashion designer Mayhem. Well, okay, Mayhem’s not her real name – it’s the name her mom Angie gave her daughter once she started posting pictures of the paper dresses she and her daughter started creating.

This all started when Angie noticed Mayhem wasn’t all that into princess dresses, but she was all excited about wrapping herself in scarves and bedsheets to create dresses for herself. Which must have led to a serious increase in laundry and ultimately led to a new construction material.

Paper.

Wrapping paper, construction paper, tissue paper, even plastic bags depending on what they wanted to make. Angie says that the designs are a 50/50 split, and Mayhem helps as much as possible with the taping and gluing. Even when Angie’s doing some of the outfit building, Mayhem’s right there, watching and learning.

The results are pretty amazing.

Between their website and Instagram, Angie and Mayhem sure have a lot of fans and I’m pretty sure they’re inspiring all sorts of budding fashionistas all over the world.

Check out more of Mayhem’s killer fashion after the break.

Real World Super-Armor Makes Batman’s Look Wimpy [Video]

by Nicole Wakelin
Tom Wright

Wow, this stuff is nuts.

b1_Upload

Batman has an endless supply of technological gadgets and armor, but this real-world version of super-armor puts his to shame. It wasn’t designed by a billionaire philanthropist but by a group of weaponry experts and researchers who’ve worked on projects like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

Over the course of four years, the team designed armor that would offer both exceptional protection and the flexibility the wearer would need during a battle. The design was made real by Unified Weapons Master who even filmed the armor being put to the test.

Batman is going to be so jealous.

Crazy But Plausible Theory On The True Identity Of Andy’s Mom In Toy Story

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

I love these crazy Pixar theories.

andy and woody

Are you ready to have your mind blown? Like, in the same way it was blown by the theory that all the Pixar movies happen in the same universe? Well, hold onto your hat – seriously, hats are important here. Jon Negroni pointed out the style of Andy’s hat in Toy Story. It’s red with white trim and looks just like Jessie’s (with the exception of the lace band which could have faded or been lost over time). He starts with that and heads down a trail that makes a good case for Andy’s mom being Emily – Jessie’s previous owner.

More after the break…

toy story hat

Huh. Negroni uses a lot of image evidence from the movies to back up his theory along with this point:

We don’t know the first name of Andy’s mom. We don’t know Emily’s last name. We know that Andy’s hat and Emily’s hat are the same. We know that Emily is old enough to be Andy’s mom. We definitely know that Pixar is perfectly capable of sneaking this in without being overt about it.

Check out the entire theory at his site and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

That Dr. Horrible Sequel Is Still Happening – No, Really

by Amy Ratcliffe
Tom Wright

Oh man I love Dr. Horrible so much.

dr horrible

Some say February is the month of love, I say it’s the month of giving hope to fans of the Whedonverse. We recently had a glimmer of hope about a Firefly resurrection, and now we’re being reassured that a Dr. Horrible sequel is indeed still in the works. It’s like nerd Christmas!

The second installment of the villain’s musical story has been teased for a while; however, everyone involved has been a little busy. Joss Whedon has those pesky Marvel films on his plate, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen are working on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the cast seem to all have ongoing projects. However, Entertainment Weekly recently reached out to Jed for an update on Dr. Horrible 2, and he shared some positive news:

We know we have spoken publicly about a sequel in the near distance and our passion to create it, and I promise we have not been insincere. Horrible is still one of our favorite creations by humans who were also us. We have many songs written and the plot outlined, but needless to say, we’ve been busy. Joss has had a hectic couple of years and is in the middle of the busiest year of his life, as is Zack and as are we. Also the actors have other things they’re acting in, I think. So the future is uncertain, our passion remains. DH2 will exist, in some format or another, at some point in the future. Unfortunately, the when is still unclear.

There are songs, there’s a plot – it’s heartening news! I’m willing to be patient for this, and I have a lot more faith in the Dr. Horrible sequel than I do in any sort of Firefly reboot.

I don't get Legos. I tried, as a kid. But I just don't get it.

The official LEGO Ghostbusters set is almost here, and we’ve got the pics to prove it! The Ecto-1 set was approved from a Cuusoo design by Brent Waller, and it’s coming to stores in early June. LEGO has just released some pics of the car and team, and it looks just as fabulous as you would hope. You’ll get 508 pieces with the set; the box will come with the Ecto-1 and minifig versions of Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Winstone Zeddemore, and Peter Venkman.

According to Mashable, the extras include: “the team’s paranormal detection equipment, Ghostbusters logo decorations, a tracking computer, and a removable roof.”

I can’t wait to capture some brick ghosts!
