An 82-Year-Old Woman Is Carrying A 40-Year-Old Fetus Inside Her Abdomen
Philip.paulssonTerrifying.
What was thought to be a stomach bug was actually a “stone baby.”

An 82-year-old Colombian woman has been unknowingly carrying a fetus inside her abdomen for 40 years, reported NTD Television.
Doctors initially thought her stomach pain was due to a bug, but scans revealed that she suffered from a very rare condition in which a woman carries a lithopedion, or a "stone baby." A lithopedion occurs when an unborn child develops outside the womb.
The Colombian woman's fetus developed in her abdomen, which is not a "viable place" for it to grow. She will now undergo a surgery to remove the lithopedion.

A calcified fetus that was removed from 92-year-old Chinese woman, Huang Yijun.
Dr. Kemer Ramirez of Bogota's Tunjuelito Hospital first suspected the woman had gallstones, but scans showed a tumor in her abdomen. He told NTD, "This happens because the fetus does not develop in the uterus because it has moved to another place." He explained that the body generated defense mechanisms and "calcified" the fetus.
Basically, the fetus gets to an advanced stage and when it is too large for the woman's body to absorb it, the remains of the unborn child turn to stone to protect her body from being infected by its decomposing tissue, explained this NBC News report. However, without other complications, a woman can live a normal life as her body doesn't recognize the stone baby as a foreign mass.

Phone Keypad
Phone Keypad
I use one of those old phones where you type with numbers—for example, to type "Y", you press 9 three times. Some words have consecutive letters on the same number. When they do, you have to pause between letters, making those words annoying to type. What English word has the most consecutive letters on the same key?
Stewart Bishop
We can answer that question with the following headache-inducing shell command, which finds all words in a given list which use the same key a bunch of times in a row:
cat wordlist.txt | perl -pe 's/^(.*)\$/\L\$& \U\$&/g' | tr 'ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ' '2223334445556667777888999' | grep -P "(.)\1\1\1\1\1"
The winner, according to this script, is nonmonogamous, which requires you to type seven consecutive letters (nonmono) with the "6" key.[1]It's actually tied with nonmonotonic. These no doubt both lose to more obscure words which weren't in the wordlists I used.
Phone Keyboard Sentences
It's rare for a word to have all its letters on the same key; the longest common ones are only a few letters.[2]Like "tutu". Nevertheless, using only these words, we can write a high def MMO on TV, a phrase whose words use only one number key each.

There are plenty of other phrases like this, although some of them are a bit of a stretch:

Typing issues like this aren't limited to old phone keyboards. For any text input system, you can find phrases which are weird to type.
QWERTY Keyboards
It's a well-known piece of trivia among word geeks that "stewardesses" is the longest common word you can type on a QWERTY keyboard using only the left hand.
In fact, it's possible to write entire sentences with just the left hand. For example, try typing the words We reserved seats at a secret Starcraft fest. Weird, huh?
Let's take a look at a few more sentences—written with the help of some even messier shell commands and Python scripts[3]I constructed these sentences by searching text logs for sentence fragments that fit a particular constraint, then randomly connecting those groups together using a technique called Markov chaining. You can see the code I used here.—which follow various constraints:
Left hand only

Right hand only

Home row only

Top row only

And lastly, if anyone wants to know why you're not more active on social media, you only need the top row to explain that you're ...

26 Reasons Shakshuka Is The Most Perfect Food
Philip.paulssonYum.
Shakshuka is a Middle Eastern and North African dish that combines eggs, tomatoes, and spices to create the perfect meal for any season and time of day.
Shakshuka is a delicious combination of eggs, tomatoes, and spices popular across the Middle East and North Africa.

Shakshuka comes in many shapes and sizes. The dish is likely of Tunisian or Yemini origin, and the name is thought to originate from either Arabic or Amazigh (Berber) for "mixture."
Via statigr.am
Some say it’s like the Mexican breakfast dish huevos rancheros — but it’s better.

The Israeli version (largely popularized by Tunisian Jews) usually involves eggs poached in spicy tomato sauce, with optional feta on top. In Egypt, Shakshuka is cooked as more of an egg scramble, and often sold in leaky sandwiches in the streets. In Jordanian, Yemini, Moroccan, Iraqi restaurants, and beyond, Shakshuka always comes a little different: The eggs can be firm or "luzzy", the sauce can be thick or thin, the vegetables can vary, and the dish can be made vegetarian, dairy, or meat. (Sorry, vegans.) Any way, it's always delicious.
Via statigr.am
Shakshuka is really, really easy to make.

Viola.
Here's the basics of what you do:

1. Fry up some onions and garlic with salt and pepper in a deep pan.
(Optional: Spice it up with cumin, paprika, or zaatar.)
2. Add chopped tomatoes.
(Bonus: Include some seasonal vegetables like eggplant, Zucchini, peppers, or cauliflower.)
3. Add in a can of diced tomatoes.
(Here's where you could also add another protein like meet or fish.)
4. Heat and then simmer.
5. Crack in as many eggs as you can fit. (Poach or mix, as you like.)
6. Cover and simmer for about 15 mins.
(Cheese can be added at any point from here.)
7. Sprinkle with parsley and... Enjoy!
8. Repeat.

British Airways' digital billboard identifies planes as they pass overhead (video)
Philip.paulssonThat is pretty nifty!
We're no stranger to digital billboards -- Engadget made its own big-screen debut in Times Square back in 2011 -- but British Airways' latest endeavor is unlike any we've seen before. According to The Drum, the new advertisement, installed front and center at London's Piccadilly Circus, uses "custom-built surveillance technology" to track incoming BA aircraft, prompting the screen to display a child pointing directly at the plane as it passes overhead. The adjacent text offers up the flight number and its origin or destination, along with a custom message, such as the lowest fare for that route or the current weather where that plane is headed. The airline's new #lookup campaign is marketing at its best -- see for yourself in the video after the break.

Clever Basketball Player Fakes Out Everyone Else On The Court

And as everyone backed away, the player turned around for the easiest layup of his life.
