Designey Desktop Zen Garden Sand Rakes
Project Rotate, an L.A.-based design studio, sells an unusual series of items on their online shop: Desktop Zen garden sand rakes. (I didn't realize enough people had that hobby to make the business viable.) Made of acrylic and walnut, they're available in the following varieties:
A six-piece Groove set:
A six-piece Ridge set:
Five individual styles of closer-to-traditional Kawaerakes:
And a Leveler, for when it's time to start over.
I learned about these rakes from designer Yuki Kawae, who collaborated with Project Rotate on the rakes. Kawae makes mesmerizing sand art videos like this:
Lastly I'll say, for those of you with 3D printers, I'd think designing and making rakes and selling them on Etsy might be worth a shot.

Top 20 most visited blog posts for IT Pros in 2021
From our first post on the 17th of September 2018, where Rick Claus introduced Microsoft's "Cloud Ops Advocate" team, we've published nearly 600 articles on this ITOps Talk blog!
To end the year, we wanted to highlight some of our most visited articles. Curiously, they weren't all written in 2021, with our second most popular article hailing from Oct 2018! This echoes the fact that IT Pros often work with technology for many years after it was released, and some of the fundamental tasks we do are just as relevant 3 years (or more) later.
So sit back and enjoy the articles that people visited the most on our blog in 2021. You might recognize a favorite or find a new one!
Note: All information was correct at time of publishing, but technology does change. If you find an article that is out-of-date, leave us a note in it's comment section and we'll get it updated!

Looking for recommendations on whether I should consolidate my investment accounts or what I should move too...
Currently invest with Vanguard (Roth + Personal invest), Chase (Personal Invest), and Robinhood. I bank with Chase and Ally.
I have been thinking about consolidating my portfolio, but wanted your opinion on what I should do. The thing I like about Robinhood is the super friendly UI and easy to use, I feel like I have way more control over Vanguard and Chase, and it's just way easier to use. Only gripe is that dividends aren't reinvested (because of fractional shares), and there are times where it goes down....
On the flipside I like how:
- Vanguard has both my investments in one place(Roth and personal), but UI leaves quite a bit to be desired... It's menu after menu...
- Chase has my bank + personal investments, so it's easy to buy into as I don't need to wait for a bank transfer. The only issue is it costs quite a bit to keep this account open...
However, I only really use Chase for credit cards and have money on chase when I get checks or cash (which is typically when I fund my Chase investment) and then maybe move part of it to Robinhood/Vanguard, and the rest to Ally and keep all my liquid cash in Ally due to the high interest savings account.
So... What am I asking?
- Would it be a good idea to consolidate my investments into less accounts?
- If so, is there anyway to easily transfer without getting hit with either Taxes or losing gains (assuming I'd have to sell the share first, transfer the money from Investment account A to Bank then to Investment account B then buy in?)
- If so, is there anyway to easily transfer without getting hit with either Taxes or losing gains (assuming I'd have to sell the share first, transfer the money from Investment account A to Bank then to Investment account B then buy in?)
- I've been thinking about creating an Ally Investment account because I have most my liquid cash there anyways. Thoughts on Ally Invest?
- Is there something that is as awesome to use as Robinhood(Super UI friendly, easy to navigate, fast/easy to buy/sell shares), but with the added benefit of fractional shares? Added benefit would be having instant ability to buy shares without having to wait for a transfer kind of like Robinhood with a 1k limit, but based on your transfer amount.

Yahoo gains US search share at Google's expense
Correction
A month-to-month market share comparison in the second paragraph contained an error.
The story has been corrected on the wire and the corrected sentence reads: That's a minor increase from the 10.4 share the struggling Internet company claimed in December and a sizeable jump from the 8.6 percent share it held in November.
Gaining the status of default search engine in Firefox is paying off for Yahoo, which has grown its share of the U.S. search market over the last three months while Google’s portion has dropped slightly.
Neither Yahoo’s gains nor Google’s losses were massive, according to Web analytics company StatCounter. In January, Yahoo’s share of the U.S. search market rose to 10.9 percent. That's a minor increase from the 10.4 share the struggling Internet company claimed in December and a sizeable jump from the 8.6 percent share it held in November. Last month’s gains weren’t enough to lift Yahoo past Microsoft Bing, which occupies the second spot with a market share of 12.4 percent for January. That’s down slightly from the 12.5 percent share Bing held in December.
