~~A Memoir

Все мы нежно любим котиков, и я не исключение. Но одно явление в мире кошачьих, на мой взгляд, достойно особого внимания и восхищения - это лапы канадской рыси.
Look at those feet!
ThePrettiestOneDonald Trump is not the problem. The fact that there are large numbers of our neighbors who REALLY REALLY WANT Donald Trump as president is the problem.

Mad Max: Snapchat Road Master post!
I uploaded them in Fury Road Chronological order!
These were done for War Rig Family Appreciation Week, but I might come back in the future and do more mad max related snapchats. It was a fun family road trip week!
To view the Snapchats Individually:
Gonna snapchat historic on the Fury Road…
And nothing bad happened.
Yes it was a perfectly lovely and peaceful vacation where no one was hurt
Donald Trump supporters assaulted a Black Lives Matter activist at a Trump rally on Saturday—and Trump thinks they might just have done the right thing. The assault after activist Mercutio Southall Jr. interrupted the rally by yelling “Black lives matter” was not a small matter:
A white man punched and attempted to choke a black protester who was thrown on the ground at a Donald Trump rally here on Saturday morning, as an onlooker yelled, "Don't choke him! Don't choke him!"
And it wasn’t one on one: “In a video captured by CNN reporter Jeremy Diamond, rally attendees swarm around the man, kicking and punching him as he curls up on the ground.”
At the time, Trump called for security to eject Southall, and in a Sunday interview, Trump made clear where he thinks the blame lies—not with the group of people who assaulted one man:
Southall "was so obnoxious and so loud, he was screaming. I had 10,000 people in the room yesterday, 10,000 people, and this guy started screaming by himself and they — I don't know, rough up, he should have been — maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing," Trump said, according to a transcript of the interview.
Disgusting! How dare he interrupt Trump’s campaign of racial hatred by insisting that anyone other than white people matter.
sad-eyed-lady-of-the-low-lands:
Petition to stop portraying neurodivergence (specifically learning and developmental disorders) with seven year old white boys.
Now, I’m not saying that there aren’t neurodivergent seven year old white boys because there absolutely are. And they are just as important as every other neurodivergent person and just as in need of representation. But the problem with primarily portraying neurodivergent characters as young white boys is that it further perpetrates two very harmful stereotypes about us.
Firstly, under-diagnosis or PoC and women, and especially WoC is a huge problem for neurodivergent people. Many girls and PoC go un-diagnosed for years, often well into adulthood, if not indefinitely. That’s hundreds of people not getting access to the support and resources that they need. And, many neurodivergent traits carry a double stigma if you’re a person of colour or a woman, the intersection of ableism and sexism and racism is literally killing people. So please stop portraying you’re neurodivergent characters as white and male all the time full stop.
Secondly, the infantilization of neurodivergent people, especially developmentally disabled people has been used to justify they abuse of neurodivergent people for centuries and is still being used to justify it now. And you would be much better off learning about that from someone who is developmentally disabled than from me. But perpetrating the idea that neurodivergent adults are childlike is hugely harmful and gross and the fact that 90% of the portrayals of neurodivergence are children doesn’t help that at all.
Besides that what do you actually think you’re telling neurodivergent kids when you don’t let them see neurodivergent adults or even neurodivergent teenagers? You probably think you’re telling them that it’s ok to be them, or that they shouldn’t be ashamed of who they are. You’re probably listing the positive affects of representation and wondering why the fuck I think this is a bad thing. And you’re right, neurodivergent children absolutely need to see themselves on TV and in other media. The problem comes when the only characters you portray as neurodivergent are children, because THEN what you’re telling them, and everyone else, is that neurodivergence is a childhood thing. What you’re telling them is that they have to grow out of it, what you’re telling them is that people like them can’t grow up to be the hero, or can’t grow up at all. What you’re telling these kids is that if they want to be successful then they have to change and what you’re telling older neurodivergent people is that they failed.
So yeah neurodivergent children in media are important, in spaces meant for children. Give me kids shows with autistic girls, give me kids shows with dyslexic PoC characters, give me kids shows with dyspraxic characters or characters with dysgraphia or dyscalculia. Give me neurodivergent children characters in a setting where they will be seen primarily by children, where they can benefit children, where they can teach children. But also give me neruodivergent adults and teenagers, let neurodivergent kids know that they’re going to grow into neurodivergent teens and adults and that’s perfectly ok.

The Rock Has An Inspiring Message For People With Depression
Johnson shares how an episode of depression eventually led him to professional wrestling, and what he learned from the experience.
GIFS VIA.
This is the difference between Hillary and Bernie on Daesh.
If America goes to war in the Middle East, we are playing exactly into ISIS’ hands.
They want more American troops to attack their countries, not only for ISIS to kill, but so hatred of Americans will increase. They want our soldiers to commit evil acts, so they can recruit more people who hate the West.
America spurred this hatred by spreading terror and murder in Iraq, as well as elsewhere in the Middle East, and, by intervening again, we only spread more.
It is exactly what ISIS wants.
Bernie Sanders is the only candidate running for president who won’t commit America as a nation and our military to even more endless wars. That matters to me, a lot.
there’s no such thing as a stupid reason not to kill yourself.
your school sells cookies on thursdays? your favorite band is coming out with a new album? you’re still saving up for that tattoo? there’s still five sodas in your fridge and it’d be a shame to let them go to waste? you want to see the season finale of that show you love? keep living.
your reasons don’t have to be big, if they mean anything to you then they’re good reasons.
When I first started seeing my therapist, and opened up about my suicidal ideation, he asked me what kept me going. I replied “This is going to sound so dumb, but its things like ‘I have a convention to go to’ or ‘I still havent made my dream cosplay’ or things like movies that havent come out, anime I haven’t watched”
He immediately told me it wasn’t dumb. Every single one fo those things, no matter how small they seem in the big picture, are all valid and important reasons to keep living.
Long story short, I whole-heartedly agree with this post
I once didn’t kill myself because first, I though an empty stomach would be really dull for the pathologist if I had an autopsy, so I ate some cheese, and then the cheese tasted good, so I still didn’t kill myself.
When I say comic books once saved my life, I mean comic books once saved my life. Knowing I had a pull list and storylines that were unfinished was my only motivation to stay alive and get out of bed for a good year to two years.
Daniel Craig has not been given enough credit for taking a character who was a cardboard throwback even in the 1960s and playing him straight: as a wall-eyed, traumatised thug, a protagonist who is two-dimensional precisely because he is empty inside.
Craig animates the automaton that is Bond by asking just what it would take to make a person behave in this horrific way – and like any piece of well-done puppetry, the effect is sinister. Daniel Craig is the Bond we deserve, a Bond who takes seriously the job of embodying a savage yearning for a lost fantasy of the 1950s. It is about masculinity, yes, but also about Britishness, about whiteness and about heterosexuality, about the loss of certainty in all of these in a changing world.

Just a reminder to our cis allies:
Transgender Day of Remembrance is NOT the trans equivalent of Gay Pride. We aren’t throwing parades. We aren’t throwing parties. We aren’t celebrating. We are reading the names of our dead. We are trying to make it clear that more than half of all LGBTQIA non-suicide deaths are murdered trans women. These are almost entirely trans women of color. We are mourning our dead and raising awareness of the danger and presumed disposability of trans lives.
We’re drawing the clear line of cause to effect between the transphobia that pervades our culture and society and the murders of trans women of color. When you’re pointing out the routine dehumanization of trans people, when you’re talking about the transphobia suffused through all of the news coverage of trans people (and the conflation of trans people and Intersex people - see the coverage of Taylor Leann Chandler today), make sure you’re pointing out how it directly leads to violent murders and the lack of investigation and urgency in solving those murders.
We have exactly one state in which defense attorneys are prohibited from using the “Trans Panic” defense to justify their clients’ murdering trans women. It’s routine for women who manage to survive attempts on their life to be arrested and jailed (usually in men’s prisons) for daring to defend themselves.
The goal of Transgender Day of Remembrance is to create a world in which it no longer needs to exist. Raising awareness is great, but make sure you know what you’re raising awareness of on TDOR. Talk about the poor trans women of color and LOUDLY value their lives, don’t just advocate for middle class trans women and trans men. Go ahead and talk about how 50% of LGBTQIA homeless youth are trans, how they get kicked out of their homes and put in dangerous living situations because they are trans. Talk about how 41% of trans people have attempted suicide. Talk about how many people are dying through those means, but don’t you dare forget the trans women of color whose lives we are recognizing and whose deaths we are mourning today. Make sure you’re talking about the link between them.

Kid donates his savings to support a vandalised masjid, so the muslim community bought him the ipad he was saving for. ❤️The sad thing is ABC news mentioned what this little angel did, but avoided mentioning that the Muslim community rewarded him back with the iPad for his generosity! [here]
If that doesn’t tell you about how the media twists things I don’t know what does
I think the incredibly frustrating thing about the whole “why can’t white people be cast as leads in Hamilton?” argument is that this is the exact same point people of color have been arguing for years. In theater, in film, in television, in literature - we’ve wanted to know for decades why can’t we be cast as leads every once in awhile. And, without fail, we have been told over and over again that we should wait our turn or that it wouldn’t be accurate or that we just weren’t “right” for the part.
Now, here comes a musical that’s massively popular - because let’s face it, I really doubt we’d be having this argument if Hamilton was anything but - and which was written, not with colorblind roles, but with roles exclusively made for non-white people. And suddenly it’s not “fair” that white people don’t get this one thing. It’s not “fair” to people who have been catered to almost all the time in every platform of media to have this one musical too. One musical. One musical out of thousands of media outlets. Thousands upon thousands with “colorblind” roles that almost always mean “white, perhaps ethnically ambiguous if not”.
There’s such a “take but never give” aspect of the argument that’s making its rounds on this site. And having to explain the nuances of white privilege and why white women and white queer people do not face the same challenges of representation in media as black women and queer black people every time this comes around is exhausting as hell.

Okay so @yoohoosoakedratmaze gave my husband and I a copy of Clue, since - despite our already-alarming collection of board games - we didn’t have one yet. And this (2013) version is amazing. @cookingbaconshirtless calls it “Bisexual Mystery Date.”
Meanwhile, I think that the character photos and bios look like they’re from the website for a CW show about undergrads from different themed ‘houses’ that keep stumbling across murders/mysteries to solve. Needless to say, I would watch the hell out of this show and
possibly hateship Peacock/White.And @knitmeapony made a sorting quiz, natch.

Should I sort characters today into their Clue Houses? I probably should.
ThePrettiestOneSo yesterday, I was dragged into a meeting. It was me and the other tech chick, and two manager types. Tech chick and I engaged in standard tech chick hand-shake protocols, while the manager chicks just kind of...smiled... at us. You know the one. Where the smile is frozen, but the eyes are desperately searching for an exit?
I’m not saying this happened to me at the barber shop a few days ago, but I’m not NOT saying that this is EXACTLY what happened to me when my barber asked me if I was watching Gotham and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I often forget that most people just watch TV instead of CONSTANTLY and RELENTLESSLY SCRUTINIZING and ANALYZING it. I also forget that many people (probably most people) aren’t super passionate about the things they talk about. Most people just talk to make sure the sound making parts in their head regions still function. It’s an involuntary act, like breathing or how your left eyelid twitches constantly (everyone has that, right?).
When normal humans ask you a question like, “Do you like that TV show?” the absolute most they are expecting in return is, “Yeah, it’s pretty good. The star is attractive and I like how it’s provides about 43 minutes a week that I’m not alone with my dark thoughts.” I forget that I intentionally surround myself with people who have both nuanced, informed opinions on the things they enjoy AND expertise in that subject. What I’m basically saying is I guess I’m an elitist prick, I think my friends are cooler than regular people, I think most people are classified as REGULAR PEOPLE (which is a monstrous thing to think in the first place) and the thought of having “small talk” with a “regular person” makes me want to feed a stray cat to an ATM.
