Hillary: *INTERNAL SCREAMING*

can u imagine being slandered and demonized for doing the same thing a man gets away with months later…… tell me again double standards don’t exist

I can’t tell you how pissed I am about this, everyone claimed it was because what she did was wrong and it had nothing to do with the fact she was a woman and no one listened when I said a man probably has done this before and another will absolutely get away with this in the future yet here we are. Internalized sexism is still present in society and it affects the way things are portrayed and perceived even if no one outright said it was because she’s a woman. It’s still natural to blame women for things we’d rationalize if men did and it’s going to stay this way until people acknowledge its s problem.

Members of Congress Went On a Scavenger Hunt for the GOP's Top Secret Obamacare Replacement Bill

by Anna Merlan on The Slot, shared by Gabrielle Bluestone to Jezebel

A few months ago, in what feels like a very distant alternate reality, Donald Trump promised Congress would repeal and replace Obamacare “very quickly.” Now, evidently, someone has written a replacement bill. It is being kept in a secret location and nobody can seem to find it or read it, which sounds exactly like how…

I’ve been here 15 years and still don’t have my citizenship so I’d like the “just get your citizenship” people to calm down. Shit is hard. Also this says he just got his residency not his citizenship so now he has to wait five years in order to apply for his citizenship unless he’s married to a citizen then he only has to wait three years but anyway he still has some time to go

It’s not only hard but super expensive

are ACE and ARO people part of the LGBTQ community?
Yes yes yes!
You are welcomed and loved
💛💛💛💛💛💛😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

transcription:

“So, there’s been this big debate lately, are aro and ace people part of the LGBTQ movement? are asexual, and aromantic, and some other people, under our umbrella?

And the answer is: YES. OF COURSE. YOU ARE.

OF COURSE. YOU ARE. WELCOME.

Of course! And there are two things to remember with that.

So, are ace and aro people part of the community, YES: if you want to be.

Right?

I am not ace, I am not aro, and so it’s not up to me to decide who I want to work with, and who I want to align with.

But if it’s up to ME - I’m genderfluid - YES, we need to do work together, and we need to band together, and of course you’re part of my community!

The, the… the other thing to remember is, this is not a battle of ‘gay people versus everybody else,’ or ‘trans people versus everybody else,’ this is that, like, insular, we’re-better-than-you, heteronormative, like, homophobic, like, regular people that’s in every movie, every ad, every single bit of culture, and has been dominant for so many years….

being dismantled. [laughs]

Which makes me happy.

And of course we all need to work together to do that.

So, are ace and aro people part of the LGBTQIAA+ community? Yeah. Of course they are. It’s a big tent. It’s a big umbrella. Let’s work together.”

Demonstrating deep political savvy, Trump digs in on Russia with new tweet!

by rss@dailykos.com (Kerry Eleveld)
ThePrettiestOne

Whelp, it's official. Trump is accusing someone else of conspiracy with Putin. I think we ALL know what that means.

Donald Trump clearly doesn’t understand the difference between diplomacy and collusion with an adversarial power. Demonstrating a total tin ear on the Russia imbroglio that’s quickly enveloping his administration, Trump tweeted out a Friday reminder that he’s totally unfit for an office that requires a certain amount of sobriety.

x

Like that decade-old picture of Chuck Schumer has any equivalency to helping Russia hijack an American election.

This is an even more pronounced example of the same political savvy Team Trump exhibited Thursday when both the pr*sident and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer went on record expressing “total” confidence in Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who hours later recused himself from overseeing Russia investigations.

Sessions still has plenty more to account for, but at the very least he could read Capitol Hill and know that there was no way for him to escape political catastrophe if he didn’t at least remove himself from investigations concerning the Trump campaign.

The fact that the White House occupants couldn’t see what was happening before their very eyes and appropriately temper their statements tells us just how capable a partner they’ll be in passing legislation, among other things.

Please proceed, Trump.

@playedstation

what’s really baffling to me about this is framing the existence of Islam and drag queens as if they’re some kind of hypothetical and not, you know, our current present actual reality

A future where we are not oppressed and invisible under the thumb of those in power under the threat of normalized violence against our persons? Yeah what a horrorshow.

“Sitting quietly, minding her own business, the young woman couldn’t help but check out the makeup tips site the passenger next to her had pulled up on their phone…

“Excuse me,” she said, timidly.  "Cold I?“

"What, this?  Of course!  But no, wait, you should try this lash color instead…”

And thus was a friendship born.

It only lasted until they reached their stops, of course, but it was a friendship nonetheless, and one that would make each one of them smile, in future days.“

And that is the future that liberals want, yes.

I’m finding these stickers around town. The url is www. tightrope. cc
This is not okay.

If you want to take them down only do so with another object (something you can scrape it away with). Do not use your bare hands. There have been cases in the past of sickos putting razor blades and sharp objects behind posters and stickers like this to hurt whoever tries to take them down. I’m sorry you had to see this garbage. Stay safe out there.

Bothers me this only has 5 notes. A saw two more at the fucking school I teach at.

reblogging for the PSA about removal methods

If you can, hair dryers work pretty well.
They melt the glue and you can scrape them off easier.
Same with steam.

y’all need to get yourselves a putty knife because these posts say “DON’T USE YOUR HANDS” and then they never tell you exactly what to use instead

putty knives look like this:

and come in various widths, but for this purpose you only need something that’s about an inch or an inch and a half wide and metal, not plastic, because plastic is too flimsy for dealing with stickers and razor blades

you can get them at the home depot or other hardware stores for as low as $1.50 to about $7.00 for a fancypants one

to make the scraping easier, some sort of oil-based lubrication is needed, but keeping a bottle of mineral oil in your bag could spell disaster for what else is in there, so a tube of chapstick is fine.

smear chapstick all over the blade of the knife and carefully get to scraping the sticker off with it and yeah. be careful.

other tips:

  • you may also want to invest in a pair of leather or nylon/nitrile work gloves to afford your hands extra protection and grip if you feel like you need it (the nylon/nitrile ones may be particularly useful for disabled individuals who need a lil more dexterity - u gotta get the right size tho)
  • keep the gloves, putty knife, and chapstick in a gallon ziploc bag with some paper towels, alcohol prep pads, and bandaids if an accident does happen
  • store the knife with its blade wrapped in paper towel for safety - they’re not particularly sharp but caution is always good
  • and keep an empty altoids tin with you to store any blades you may find under the stickers until you find an adequate disposal area

anyways

y’all need putty knives

Mike Pence Used an AOL Email Account for State Business as Governor and Was Also Hacked

by Megan Reynolds on The Slot, shared by Megan Reynolds to Jezebel

Remember, the party of personal accountability is never held accountable.

Mike Pence spent a good portion of the campaign lambasting Hillary Clinton about her emails. In spite of that fact, it somehow comes as no surprise that during his tenure as governor of Indiana, he used a private AOL email to conduct state business.

hustleinatrap:

Rihanna made an appearance at the Ivy League school to accept a plaque given to her by Allen Counter, the director of the Harvard Foundation. She was named Humanitarian of the Year by Harvard University. 29-year-old star, who by the way has never graduated high school, was honored thanks for her charitable efforts. She created an oncology center in Barbados to fight breast cancer ans found the non-profit, The Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program, to assist in funding Caribbean-born students who attend college in the U.S. Rihanna also backs the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, that provides ‘access to education in over 60 developing countries, giving priority to girls, and those affected by lack of access to education in the world today.’

Rihanna becomes the 1st female singer to receive Harvard University’s  "Humanitarian of the Year.“ Very deserving.

fidefortitude:

slumbermancer:

basically, i think the general rule of thumb is: if someone REALLY wants the blood that’s inside of your body, and they’re like… a vampire, or a dracula, or some sort of mansquito, then that’s probably okay. a dracula and a mansquito are made for removing things like blood and swords from inside your body. that’s basically fine.

if something wants to get at your blood, and they’re, say, some kind of murdersaurus, or maybe a really big frog, that’s where the problems start to arise. a really frog is not made for removing blood, and your blood knows this, which is why it is so vehement about wanting to stay IN your body instead of coming out.

unfortunately this will not deter a really big frog, because a really big frog is full of things like prizes, and value, and quite a lot of hatred, and it would REALLY rather like to replace any and all of those things with your blood, and basically by any means possible.

These words scan with a fantastic degree of confidence considering that together they make no sense at all

WaPo: AG Sessions TWICE spoke with Russian ambassador during election, didn't disclose under oath

by rss@dailykos.com (Jen Hayden)

If there was any doubt whatsoever that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should recuse himself immediately from the investigation into whether the Trump campaign and Russian officials had any contact or agreements, those have completely evaporated with this news:

Then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessions’s confirmation hearing to become attorney general.

One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senator’s office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race.

The previously undisclosed discussions could fuel new congressional calls for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russia’s alleged role in the 2016 presidential election. As attorney general, Sessions oversees the Justice Department and the FBI, which have been leading investigations into Russian meddling and any links to Trump’s associates. He has so far resisted calls to recuse himself.

Emphasis added because, you think? Jeff Sessions straight up lied:

x

7 Signs of Tyranny As tyrants take control of democracies, they...

7 Signs of Tyranny

As tyrants take control of democracies, they typically do 7 things:

1. They exaggerate their mandate to govern – claiming, for example, that they won an election by a “landslide” even after losing the popular vote. They criticize any finding that they or co-conspirators stole the election. And they repeatedly claim “massive voter fraud” in the absence of any evidence, in order to have an excuse to restrict voting by opponents in subsequent elections.

2. They turn the public against journalists or media outlets that criticize them, calling them “deceitful” and “scum,” and telling the public that the press is a “public enemy.” They hold few, if any, press conferences, and prefer to communicate with the public directly through mass rallies and unfiltered statements (or what we might now call “tweets”).

3. They repeatedly lie to the public, even when confronted with the facts.  Repeated enough, these lies cause some of the public to doubt the truth, and to believe fictions that support the tyrants’ goals.

4. They blame economic stresses on immigrants or racial or religious minorities, and foment public bias or even violence against them. They threaten mass deportations, “registries” of religious minorities, and the banning of refugees.

5. They attack the motives of anyone who opposes them, including judges. They attribute acts of domestic violence to “enemies within,” and use such events as excuses to beef up internal security and limit civil liberties.

6. They appoint family members to high positions of authority. They ppoint their own personal security force rather than a security detail accountable to the public. And they put generals into top civilian posts.

7.They keep their personal finances secret, and draw no distinction between personal property and public property – profiteering from their public office.

Consider yourself warned.
