Grrl Power #677 – Xeno economics
Sydney has a long road to travel before she starts acting like a wealthy person. Not that any amount of paper money from a world without an intergalactic trade agreement would be worth anything there, but with what Archon pays her, she should probably keep at least a grand on her in cash.
I imagine everyone on the team might have a card linked to a team account. Obviously all the expenses on it would need to be accounted for, but, you know, maybe Achilles’s car breaks down on the way to a supervillain attack and he needs a taxi or whatever. Since they’re domestically based, miscellaneous expenses might come up. The spending limit is probably tied to rank in that case.
Achilles especially probably doesn’t want to carry a bunch of his own personal stuff into a fight, since he generally runs at the most dangerous thing in any battle. I’ve drawn his clothes getting blown off or messed up several times already, but come to think of it, he probably would have his badge and the aforementioned card and a few other essentials strapped to one leg inside a wallet made out of the stuff they make black boxes out of. So the next time he gets all his clothes incinerated, don’t be surprised if he’s left wearing just a garter belt. Or I guess just a regular belt makes more sense. Just a really tough one, with a built in fanny pack.
The shot of the alien street scene isn’t nearly what I wanted it to be, but backgrounds have never been my thing, and what I pictured in my head would probably have taken several weeks to draw just by itself. So as with the shot of Fracture Station itself, try and imagine the street level scenes with about 10x the detail if you would. :)
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. $1 and up, but feel free to contribute as much as you like.

Reminder: If you live in Europe and want to own one of these three volume sets of the first ten years of Ctrl+Alt+Del, this is the last chance.
There is a button below to pre-order a CAD 1.0 Box set, delivered anywhere in Europe (except Russia, Israel and Turkey, more on that in a moment), for $120.
We have 34 7 book sets left, the last of these that I have to sell ever, and they are first-come first served. I will take orders for the next week, or until they are all ordered, whichever comes first. As soon as they are all ordered, I will direct the warehouse to arrange freight to the EU for distribution. This will take a while. They’ll most likely be traveling by boat, and I’ll have a better idea about travel time once they’re en route, but be aware that moving these books will take a while.
If you place an order, and we don’t end up with enough follow-through (ie, the books don’t get ordered), I will simply refund your pre-order at the end of the week. So if you want one of these, order soon to help make sure this happens.
And if you happen to live in Russia, Israel or Turkey, and you want one of these books, we CAN send one there for an additional $20 in shipping. Don’t ask me why it costs more to ship to those countries from Germany, it’s just what I was quoted by the company that will be handling the fulfillment. You can email me to arrange an order (tim at cad-comic.com).
So anyway… here’s that order button. Let’s get these books some new homes.

You may be aware of that New York Times story about how "The Trump administration is considering narrowly defining gender as a biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth, the most drastic move yet in a governmentwide effort to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under federal civil rights law."
This is, quite obviously, hateful bigoted bullshit, and we should not stand for it. Call your representatives, donate to trans rights organizations, look out for your trans friends and loved ones, VOTE. Please do whatever you can.
I've made a donation to Trans Lifeline. Some other good organizations who could use your support:
How to Keep Your Dog Happy While You’re at Work
If you’re a working dog parent, then you know that one of the toughest moments of each day is when you have to leave them in the morning to head to your job. To ease your mind, here are a few suggestions for how to keep your dog happy while you’re at work.
Provide lots of cozy spots for snoozing…
Dog owners can take assurance in the fact that for the majority of time while you’re at work, your dog is probably sleeping. On average, an adult dog sleeps for 12-14 hours per day! Older dogs sleep upwards of 16 hours per day, and puppies may need between 18-20 hours of sleep.
And a lot of that snoozing happens while you’re at work. Without their human around, your dog uses this time to nap and rev up for the moment when you do come home. So you can take comfort in knowing that, even if you were home, your dog would probably still be sleeping, same as when you are at work.
To make your dog as comfortable as possible for all this nap time, make sure they have a cozy place to sleep. Set up their dog bed with their favorite items – you can even include a shirt you’ve recently worn that smells like you for them to nuzzle up with.
Keep the TV on…
Not that your dog is actually going to be watching TV, but leaving the television on, or a radio with some soothing music, can help provide some background noise to put your pup at ease during the day while you’re gone. It will give them something to listen to, as well as distract them from any potentially stressful sounds outside that might cause them to bark, like the garbage truck or the delivery man.
Arrange for a walk while you’re out…
If you have a high-energy dog, if you have a puppy who needs extra attention (and potty breaks), or if you just don’t want your dog to be by themselves for a full day, then consider setting up a dog-walker visit while you’re at work. If your dog needs to be let out in the middle of the day, and you don’t work close enough to home to do it yourself, a dog walker is definitely the way to go.
There are so many easy-to-use and respected dog walking and dog care services available for dog owners to choose from today. For example, Trusty Tails Dog Walking provides professional dog walking and pet sitting – so whether your dog needs a 10-minute walk, or a two hour visit, they have something for every pet!
Many of these service providers put their handlers and walkers through rigorous training and background checks, so you can be sure that your pet is in the best possible hands. Many of these service providers also encourage their walkers to send you pictures and text updates, so you can see just how well your dog is doing while you’re at work.

New comic!
Today's News:
I realize this is ridiculous, but like I've said-- it's what I'm intending.
This whole story is supposed to be a lot more goofy than serious so tailor your expectations and remember there's not going to be tons of drama or ennui.
I think I'm going to have to drop my Tuesday night D&D game as I'm just not keeping up with comic/patreon/commission work. I'm realizing that losing that entire chunk of a day due to travel/gametime/etc. really adds up to lost productivity.
I'm working towards getting the list of commissions done and then I'll be able to spend that time working on stuff for the game I'm looking to run sometime next year... so in the end I think it's the right choice.
Just something I had to realize over time.
And we have lift-off.
Geez, what a dated reference. Nobody’s gonna remember that show in fifteen years.
*finger to ear*
Really?
REALLY.
Huh.
You don’t say.
aaaaaaaaanyway, in my original elementary-school-written story, Danny and Joe did indeed watch the U.S.S. Destiny launch. Though in that iteration they were just spectators, like Billie, and Joe had nothing to do with its construction.
