Joaquin Jara
Barcelona, 1977
Joaquin Jara is a multidisciplinary artist. All of his aspects, from interventions in natural and urban environments to painting, sculpture, and experimental movies, converge on a common objective.
The portrait is displayed as an object subject to internal and external forces, those of the environment, which generate constant changes. Therefore, it will be a representation of the subject processes. An instant inside a sequence of images in continuous transformation. An image saved, which does not illustrate identity, but testifies it. An image without a possible conclusion, as it resides on instability.

A spacecraft landed on the surface of a comet for the first time ever today, the European Space Agency confirms. The 220-pound Philae lander successfully made its way to the surface of 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, as part of the agency's 10 years in the making Rosetta mission.

This was a very strange time for Bill Cosby to encourage people to combine their own words with his image.

After all, there's more buzz now than ever before about the many sexual assault allegations that women have made against him over the years.
Comedian Hannibal Buress has even been incorporating a hard-hitting bit about bit the topic into his routines, telling audiences, "That shit is upsetting. If you didn't know about it, trust me, if you leave here and google 'Bill Cosby rape.' That shit has more results than 'Hannibal Buress.'"
Despite all this, the formerly beloved Cosby Show star unveiled a #CosbyMeme Generator on his website Monday. That's right. It lets users add text to photos of Cosby (and it didn't take long at all for people to circumvent the, "After generating your meme, it will be submitted for review" bit by simply taking screenshots of their creations and sharing them).
Go ahead. Meme me! http://t.co/uM3KSji8or #CosbyMeme pic.twitter.com/9PbpQqz33X

Things went downhill, fast, with statements related to the rape allegations eclipsing innocent ones about Jell-O or ugly sweaters.
A meme generator — particularly one based on photos of a comedian making goofy faces — is a really clumsy tool for serious commentary about a sensitive topic. So it's no surprise that some responses were immediately criticized for blurring the line between antagonizing the accused and making light of sexual assault in general.
But the spirit of the reaction overall seemed to harness the "Meme me!" suggestion to send a clear message: if Cosby thought he could avoid scrutiny of his alleged conduct, the real joke was on him.
Here's some of what happened:

No way #CosbyMeme happens by accident. Somebody on his publicity team hates him. A lot.

MattalystToday in news that surprised absolutely no one.
A U.S. airstrike over the weekend may have targeted and hit Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the fancy watch-wearing head of ISIS's wannabe worldwide caliphate. He may be dead, according to some people. Top people.
MattalystOf course the million-dollar question is whether Obama supporting something actually improves its chances.

President Obama today urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reclassify broadband service as a utility and to impose rules that prevent Internet service providers from blocking and throttling traffic or prioritizing Web services in exchange for payment. Obama also said utility rules should apply both to home Internet service and mobile broadband.
In short, Obama is siding with consumer advocates who have lobbied for months in favor of reclassification while the telecommunications industry lobbied against it.
In a plan released today, Obama said, “The time has come for the FCC to recognize that broadband service is of the same importance [as the traditional telephone system] and must carry the same obligations as so many of the other vital services do. To do that, I believe the FCC should reclassify consumer broadband service under Title II of the Telecommunications Act—while at the same time forbearing from rate regulation and other provisions less relevant to broadband services. This is a basic acknowledgment of the services ISPs provide to American homes and businesses, and the straightforward obligations necessary to ensure the network works for everyone—not just one or two companies.”
