In quite the cinematic move, The Weeknd has uploaded his latest music video, this one coming in at an impressive seven minutes and 47 seconds. It features a controversial Portishead sample (he didn’t get permission), as well as a poetic, Japanese introduction, and plenty of sad-and-sexy feels to get your mind wandering.

The video premiered on MTV, and only time will tell if Portishead decides to take legal action, though it kind of seems like they might. Via Spin:

Portishead’s Geoff Barrow has indicated via Twitter that he refused the Weeknd permission to use the sample. “I think it’s a load of bollox,” Barrow wrote. He added, “When someone asks to sample you and you refuse they should have the respect as a fellow artist to not use it.” And: “We usually give sample clearance to tunes we like. its got fuk all to do with money! As most of them are hiphop artist that are skint.” He later wrote, “Feels like I’m being used to promote the track now… I’ll shut up now.”

by Sean O'Neal

In the living Internet that is Universal Orlando’s new Simpsons Fast Food Boulevard, the streets are paved with references, as well as, presumably, stepped-on Krusty Burger remnants. But mostly references, an attention to detail and fan service that extends all the way to a gift shop that carries, yep, “BORT” license plates. [EDIT: Or, fine, they are Kwik-E-Mart name tags. They are tags with the word "BORT" on them. Let's just agree to laugh about this.] Unfortunately, as seen in the “Itchy & Scratchy Land” episode and as documented by CollegeHumor, “Bort” is a very popular name, and there are only so many “BORT” tags to go around. Probably still plenty of “BARCLAY” ones, though. [via Splitsider]

Check out these dickheads

You know, this one. Deadspin posts copies of all the complaints filed with the FCC over both the speech and the FCC commissioner's subsequent affirmation of Big Papi's words. They don't all have addresses attached, but of the ones that did, there were none from Boston (one from Westfield, though).

iOS Peeps: Get some free shit

Has it been five years already?
Apple

On July 10, 2008, Apple introduced the first official iPhone app store alongside the then-new iPhone 3G and iPhone OS 2.0. Third-party apps were crucial to transforming the device from a shiny, pretty phone and e-mail machine into the multifaceted mini-computer that we carry around today. To celebrate the store's fifth birthday, Apple is giving away a handful of high-profile apps for our favorite price: $0.

The company is offering a total of ten apps, five of which are games:

If games aren't your bag, there are also five other apps up for grabs:
