Photos of Abandoned Russia (35 photos)

Across the vastness of Russia—the world’s largest country, at some 6.6 million square miles—and over the span of its long history, countless houses, factories, churches, villages, military bases, and other structures have been built and then left behind: imperial-era palaces, log cabins of pioneers in the Far East, Christian cathedrals, massive Soviet blocks of concrete, speculative-mining camps, and more. For years now, photographers have traveled across Russia finding and photographing these intriguing ghost towns, empty Soviet factories, toppling houses, and crumbling chapels.

In central Italy’s Umbria region, the small village of Castelluccio sits atop a hill overlooking a broad, flat basin surrounded by the Sibillini Mountains. In October 2016, a significant earthquake struck the area, badly damaging the village and roads—but farming still takes place in the Piano Grande below, where fields of lentils and poppies bloom every year, carpeting the landscape with a colorful quilt of blossoming flowers.

EverRatchet: Ratcheting Keychain Multi-tool

submitted by Everyday Carry

The biggest problem with keychain multi-tools is finding one with the right balance between form and function. Small tools are easier to carry, but harder to use. Larger tools are quite the opposite. The EverRatchet from Gear Infusion hits just the right balance of size and functionality while adding something never before seen on a keychain multi-tool. The EverRatchet’s integrated bit driver has a unique ratcheting mechanism that makes quick fixes even faster.

The EverRatchet’s key feature works thanks to what Gear Infusion calls their “dynamic ratcheting beam.” Through some careful design and engineering, they’ve managed to create a system that holds the bit still under force but lets the tool rotate back to its starting position to get additional torque in use. In practice, it's not at all as complicated as it sounds. To tighten a screw, put the bit driver in the ratchet hole, and turn it back and forth like you would a normal ratchet. Loosening a screw is just a matter of flipping the tool over and rotating it in the other direction. In addition to the ratchet, you’ll find a fire flint, scraper, pry bar, measuring tool, and 7 wrenches of different sizes. The tool measures in at just under 2.5” in length — ideal for keychain or coin pocket carry.

Currently, the EverRatchet is tens of thousands of dollars over its funding goal. Pledges start at a reasonable $16 for a stainless steel tool and $21 for the titanium version, both of which include a #2 Philips Bit and Fire Flint to sweeten the deal. Hit the link below to see the tool in action and snag one for yourself.

Photos: Soccer Fields Around the World (31 photos)

shared because soccer sucks, and the first photo would make an incredible baseball field.

One of the most appealing aspects of soccer is its simplicity—a ball, some open space, goal markers, and you can play. As the 2018 World Cup kicks off in Russia, with matches held in massive modern arenas, here is a look at the beautiful game in action in some smaller and more unusual venues around the world, including pitches built on a glacier, on a beach, floating in a river, made of straw, on a rooftop, and more.

Players of FC Gspon (white), representing Switzerland, play against FC Zuma (red), representing Spain, during their Mountain Villages international soccer tournament match in Gspon, in the Swiss Alps, on May 29, 2010. The match is played on the highest elevated soccer field in Europe. At about 2,000 meters, the pitch can only be reached by a cable car, which can only carry up to 10 people, or on foot—a 45-minute climb. (Michael Buholzer / Reuters)

The Best Quotes on Fatherhood

by Brett & Kate McKay
Chris M

Good stuff. Big R ain't much for conversation. so the "My father didn't tell me how to live, he lived and let me watch him do it" fits nicely.

Fathers tend to be taken for granted.

We invariably make more of a fuss over Mom on Mother’s Day than Dad on Father’s Day, for one.

Dads are like a steady but less sentimentalized institution — the sun in our familial sky that warms and gives life but isn’t much thought about unless he goes missing.

Yet this belies the enormous impact fathers truly have on their children; while a dad’s nurturing may often take the form of playful roughhousing and silly jokes, his influence is quite serious and significant: the presence of a loving father greatly increases a child’s chances of success, confidence and resilience, physical and mental well-being, and yes, quite naturally, their sense of humor.

One of the manifestations of the way we take fathers for granted is that there exist many more quotes about Mom than dear old Dad (and even fewer about fathers and daughters). To make more accessible those great pearls of wisdom that do exist, we searched high and low for the very best, and created this ultimate treasury of quotes about fatherhood. These short quotations provide great prompts for reflection; typically, we’re so busy plowing ahead that we don’t pause to look up and get a “birds-eye” perspective on things — taking the time to ponder what our own dads meant to us, and the way we’re shaping, and should be savoring, our kids right now.

Quotes About Fatherhood

“You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turn out to be heroes, even if it’s just in your own eyes.” –Walter M. Schirra, Sr.

“Some dads liken the impending birth of a child to the beginning of a great journey.” –Marcus Jacob Goldman

“One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.” –George Herbert

“Sherman made the terrible discovery that men make about their fathers sooner or later . . . that the man before him was not an aging father but a boy, a boy much like himself, a boy who grew up and had a child of his own and, as best he could, out of a sense of duty and, perhaps love, adopted a role called Being a Father so that his child would have something mythical and infinitely important: a Protector, who would keep a lid on all the chaotic and catastrophic possibilities of life.” –Tom Wolfe, The Bonfire of the Vanities

“The best way of training the young is to train yourself at the same time; not to admonish them, but to be seen never doing that of which you would admonish them.” –Plato

“The nature of impending fatherhood is that you are doing something that you’re unqualified to do, and then you become qualified while doing it.” –John Green

“One of the greatest things a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” –Howard W. Hunter

“To a father growing old nothing is dearer than a daughter.” –Euripides

“If there is any immortality to be had among us human beings, it is certainly only in the love that we leave behind. Fathers like mine don’t ever die.” –Leo Buscaglia

“That is the thankless position of the father in the family—the provider for all, and the enemy of all.” –J. August Strindberg

“Every father should remember one day his son will follow his example, not his advice.” –Charles Kettering

“Son, there are times a man has to do things he doesn’t like to, in order to protect his family.” –Ralph Moody

“A boy needs a father to show him how to be in the world. He needs to be given swagger, taught how to read a map so that he can recognize the roads that lead to life and the paths that lead to death, how to know what love requires, and where to find steel in the heart when life makes demands on us that are greater than we think we can endure.” –Ian Morgan Cron

“Parenthood remains the single greatest preserve of the amateur.” –Alvin Toffler

“My father didn’t tell me how to live. He lived and let me watch him do it.” –Clarence Budington Kelland

“When you’re a dad, there’s no one above you. If I don’t do something that has to be done, who is going to do it?” –Jonathan Safran Foer, Here I Am

“‘Why do men like me want sons?’ he wondered. ‘It must be because they hope in their poor beaten souls that these new men, who are their blood, will do the things they were not strong enough nor wise enough nor brave enough to do. It is rather like another chance at life; like a new bag of coins at a table of luck after your fortune is gone.’” –John Steinbeck, Cup of Gold: A Life of Sir Henry Morgan, Buccaneer, with Occasional Reference to History

“If the past cannot teach the present, and the father cannot teach the son, then history need not have bothered to go on, and the world has wasted a great deal of time.” –Russell Hoban

“There are many kinds of success in life worth having. It is exceedingly interesting and attractive to be a successful business man, or railway man, or farmer, or a successful lawyer or doctor; or a writer, or a President, or a ranchman, or the colonel of a fighting regiment, or to kill grizzly bears and lions. But for unflagging interest and enjoyment, a household of children, if things go reasonably well, certainly makes all other forms of success and achievement lose their importance by comparison.” –Theodore Roosevelt

“Father!—To God Himself we cannot give a holier name.” –William Wordsworth

“We think our Fathers Fools, so wise we grow; Our wiser Sons, no doubt, will think us so.” –Alexander Pope

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” –Frederick Douglass

“A girl’s father is the first man in her life, and probably the most influential.” –David Jeremiah

“Father of fathers, make me one,
A fit example for a son.”

–Douglas Malloch

“My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, ‘You’re tearing up the grass.’ ‘We’re not raising grass,’ Dad would reply. ‘We’re raising boys.’” –Harmon Killebrew

“Until you have a son of your own . . . you will never know the joy beyond joy, the love beyond feeling that resonates in the heart of a father as he looks upon his son. You will never know the sense of honor that makes a man want to be more than he is and to pass something good and hopeful into the hands of his son. And you will never know the heartbreak of the fathers who are haunted by the personal demons that keep them from being the men they want their sons to be.” –Kent Nerburn

“When my son looks up at me and breaks into his wonderful toothless smile, my eyes fill up and I know that having him is the best thing I will ever do.” –Dan Greenberg

“Being a great father is like shaving. No matter how good you shaved today, you have to do it again tomorrow.” –Reed Markham

“It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father.” –Pope John XXIII

“When I looked at you first I saw not your mother and me, but your two grandfathers . . . and, as my father, whom I loved a great deal, had died the year before, I was moved to see that here, in you, he was alive.” –Peter Carey

“Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song.” –Pam Brown

“Like so much between fathers and sons, playing catch was tender and tense at the same time.” –Donald Hall

Visiting Chernobyl 32 Years After the Disaster (31 photos)

Chris M

crazy

Today marks the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. On April 26, 1986, technicians conducting a test inadvertently caused the fourth reactor to explode. Several hundred staff members and firefighters then tackled a blaze that burned for 10 days and sent a plume of radiation around the world in the worst-ever civil nuclear disaster. More than 50 reactor and emergency workers were killed at the time. Authorities evacuated 120,000 people from the area, including 43,000 from the city of Pripyat. Below, recent images from Chernobyl and nearby ghost towns within the exclusion zone, as well as memorials held in Ukraine and Russia.

Touch n’ Hold

by cc
Chris M

actually pretty neat. My storm door pisses me off when you're trying to get out of the house holding crap and it keeps shutting on you.

If you have a storm door or screen door, you probably have a pneumatic device that closes it. And the device has a little washer thing that will hold the door open if you put down your bags, and the baby, and let the dog go free while you fiddle it down the bar, so it can jam against the piston. It’s a hassle.

The Touch n’ Hold is a device that makes this a happier moment. The Touch n’ Hold door closer lets you set the door open with a simple tap of your toe or elbow. Then once you’ve got all your stuff inside, just nudge the door (not the thing) open a little more and it will go back into closing mode.

I use it every day, and it always makes me think of Cool Tools.

Lodge Pan Scraper

by mark

I’m Donald Bell for Cool Tools and in this video I’ve got a tool that in a perfect world would come with every cast iron skillet. This is a pan scraper from Lodge. A 2-pack cost me around $4 on Amazon.

A lot of people will debate the best way to care for and season a cast iron, but everyone agrees they should never touch soapy water. This makes cleaning them a challenge, though, especially if you have some burnt, baked on crud.

This pan scraper from Lodge is a simple but effective tool for degunking cast iron, or really any cookware. It’s made from a polycarbonate plastic that holds up to scraping, through it can melt — so don’t use this on a hot pan.

A big advantage to using this instead of a spatula or your fingernail, is the shape. You have a flat side and a curved side, and the edges are rounded in just the right way to clear out the curves in you pan.

I’ve also found them handy for scraping food from Pyrex cookware and from cookie sheets or muffin tins.

Outside of cooking, I see a lot of reviews from people who use these for removing stickers from cars without damaging the paint or glass.

So that’s the Lodge pan scraper. It’s one of those cheap but immediately useful tools you’ll wish you’d gotten years ago.

The Bike-Share Oversupply in China: Huge Piles of Abandoned and Broken Bicycles (30 photos)

Chris M

at what point was someone like.... "why the fu&k are we making so many bicycles?"

Last year, bike sharing took off in China, with dozens of bike-share companies quickly flooding city streets with millions of brightly colored rental bicycles. However, the rapid growth vastly outpaced immediate demand and overwhelmed Chinese cities, where infrastructure and regulations were not prepared to handle a sudden flood of millions of shared bicycles. Riders would park bikes anywhere, or just abandon them, resulting in bicycles piling up and blocking already-crowded streets and pathways. As cities impounded derelict bikes by the thousands, they moved quickly to cap growth and regulate the industry. Vast piles of impounded, abandoned, and broken bicycles have become a familiar sight in many big cities. As some of the companies who jumped in too big and too early have begun to fold, their huge surplus of bicycles can be found collecting dust in vast vacant lots. Bike sharing remains very popular in China, and will likely continue to grow, just probably at a more sustainable rate. Meanwhile, we are left with these images of speculation gone wild—the piles of debris left behind after the bubble bursts.

Building the World's Most Powerful Telescope (28 photos)

Chris M

freaking neat!

Assembling the world’s most powerful space telescope is a complicated process, and Chris Gunn has been there from nearly the beginning. Gunn, a NASA photographer, has spent almost a decade photographing the James Webb Space Telescope, the successor to the famed Hubble, capturing its transformation from a bare metal framework into a gleaming science observatory with 18 gold-plated mirrors. “For me, a science-fiction buff, it’s almost like seeing the Enterprise being built,” Gunn says. NASA has Gunn capture nearly step in the process for the space agency’s own records—“every single wrench turn, every single movement is documented,” he said. Some photos are never disclosed because they feature proprietary technology. Others, after thorough approval from project managers, are released to the public to spark interest and awe at the ambitious (and expensive) project. Soon, it’ll be Webb’s turn to take pictures. In 2019, the telescope will launch to a spot about one million miles from Earth and settle into an orbit around the sun. Webb, seeing the cosmos in infrared wavelengths, will photograph the most distant stars and galaxies in the universe. When that happens, Gunn says, “I really want people to want to know what the observatory looked like and how it was built and about the people who built it.”

Engineers pose with NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, or Webb, after it emerged from Chamber A at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, on December 1, 2017. The telescope’s combined science instruments and optical element exited the massive thermal vacuum testing chamber after about 100 days of cryogenic testing inside. Scientists and engineers at Johnson put Webb through a series of tests designed to ensure the telescope functioned as expected in an extremely cold, airless environment akin to that of space. Photographer Chris Gunn: "All of NASA’s endeavors are group efforts and group photos are part of the NASA culture. This shot is probably one of the best group shots I’ve made including the telescope." (Chris Gunn / NASA)

The Siege of Eastern Ghouta and Seven Years of War in Syria (36 photos)

Chris M

literally nothing in this place is salvageable. I couldn't Imagine living in such a place while having children.

More than a thousand people are believed to have been killed in recent weeks as Syrian government forces laid siege to the rebel-controlled region of eastern Ghouta outside the capital of Damascus. The United Nations estimates that 400,000 people still live in the villages and towns in the besieged region, trapped by several rebel groups who won’t let them leave and by Syrian government blockades that block their paths. Despite international pressure to call a ceasefire, Syrian ground forces and Russian-backed air forces have maintained their assault, recently gaining territory and splitting the region into three parts. This battle is just one of many still taking place across the fractured nation of Syria seven years since the start of its civil war.

Wax and Your Car: Choosing the Best Wax for You and Your Ride

by Kimberlea Buczeke
Chris M

I've used the Meguiar's ultimate wax. Synthetic waxes don't last as long, but look really good. They are also not ask cakey as natural waxes are. Natural (carnauba) waxes last longer, but sometimes don't give that deep shine people like. Clay bar. Use it. It takes time, but it will clean the paint up.

Before you go shopping for the best car wax, make sure you understand the reasons why you should be waxing your ride.

Why should I wax my car?

Many drivers take pride in their vehicles and want to keep them looking great. Waxing is a great way to do this. It not only enhances the look of a car, but can protect it from scratches and natural elements.

The main reasons you should be waxing your car regularly include:

Help maintain shine: Waxing will help maintain the natural oils in your car's paint and give your vehicle a stellar shine. Make sure you follow the directions and apply the wax in the correct direction.

Protect from airborne contaminants: Waxing your vehicle will help prevent contaminants from getting into the paint of your car. Airborne contaminants include bird poop, bug guts and even acidic rain. A thin coat of wax will help create a barrier to repel these contaminants from sticking to your paint.

Makes for easy washing: If you wax your car regularly, your washes will be more effective. If you have a wax barrier protecting your paint from everyday elements, those elements won't even be able to adhere to your car most of the time. For example, if you have a coat of wax, water is more likely to slide off of your car instead of settling and leaving spots.

What should I think about when choosing a car wax?

Choosing the best wax is going to be different for every person. Some individuals enjoy the car-wash process and don't mind taking their time, while others want something quick and easy.

Cleaner waxes: Cleaner waxes have many benefits and are considered one-step waxes. They're able to shine the car and are a professional grade. Not only can they improve the overall appearance of the car and paint, but cleaner waxes are simple to use. They are made from natural materials, including carnauba, so they will not harm the paint.

Finishing car wax: A finishing wax will offer protection for your vehicle and will enhance its shine at the same time. This wax makes the color of the car really stand out. It has natural ingredients and is safe for the paint. This type of wax won't actually clean the paint, so it is recommended for vehicles that have paint in very good condition.

Protection: When searching for a wax, look for a product that offers protection from environmental factors, such as sun or rain. The wax should also be able to protect against other natural elements. A high-quality car wax will be able to keep the car looking shiny while offering a layer of protection from grime and dirt from the road, as well.

When exploring car waxes, choose the option that best fits your needs. Decide whether you're looking for convenience, low pricing or just a simple shine. If your car is older, it may be better to use a wax that cleanses rather than just shines. If you have a newer vehicle, you will need something that provides shine. Waxing is a simple way to keep your car in tip-top condition.

So, what waxes does RepairPal recommend? We scoured Amazon's Best Sellers list and found these options with great reviews. Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Mothers 07240 California Gold Clay Bar System
Our favorite review: "I recently purchased my first vehicle: a used 1997 Honda Civic. I proudly took it home, and parked it in its new domicile in the parking garage of my apartment building. I let it rest overnight, thinking it was safe and sound. Imagine my sorrow when I visited it the next day for a drive ... HORRORS!!! A nefarious sewage pipe, lurking in the ceiling, had leaked unmentionable white corrosive ectoplasm onto the roof of my new friend! The splatters covered a good quarter of the car, and the filthy residue they left behind simply would NOT come off!

In my grief, a friend of mine suggested I try the clay bar system. I sprung for it, not expecting much, but hoping at best to polish up the unaffected side of the car. My arch-nemesis the pipe (although now taped up and plastered with a warning sign) still snickered at me from the other side of the garage. But as I applied the clay to the stains, the heavens broke and angelic voices drowned out the wicked gurgle. The residuum was going away! Hoping against hope, I kept working the area, and lo and behold, it was GONE! Now I am laughing, and the pipe no longer darkens my days. Thanks to Mothers for making a great product, and helping me enjoy the bond with my first car."

Meguiar's G18216 Ultimate Liquid Wax - 16 oz.
Our favorite review: "Well, the first thing that I want to mention is that I love detailing my cars. I keep my cars clean and neat and I love having this extra layer of protection to protect against contamination, bird dirt and also to have my car shine. Yes, you can give your car to the car wash and have them do all the work, but it costs a lot and no one is going to do a better job that you on your own car.

Now, in terms of the product. The product is not really a wax, it's synthetic, not carnauba wax. Two major differences between carnauba wax and synthetic sealant is that wax gives some protection for a couple of months but great shine. However, sealant gives less shine but more protection. I actually prefer more protection for my paint because I don't need to win any car shows. I want to protect my car against contamination. This thing I think lasts about 5-6 months in NYC. Maybe longer elsewhere."

Chemical Guys WAC_201_16 Butter Wet Wax (16 oz)
Our favorite review: "This stuff is Amazing! After comparing my newly washed and waxed silver car to my brother's washed silver car, mine looked awesome, it had a nice glossy shine and the silver just stood out and sparkled. The Garlic Twist

Chris M

pretty neat.

The Garlic Twist is made from very hard plastic so it’s easy (and satisfying) to smash the cloves with it to remove the skin. The teeth inside do a great job of quickly mincing two cloves at a time, and it’s easy to clean. The polycarbonate from which it is manufactured is dishwasher-safe.

I’m pretty proficient at mincing garlic with a chef’s knife, but I find this to be less trouble. It’s far superior to any garlic peeler or press I’ve ever used, even very expensive ones. It’s a simple thing, but it works very well.

Wilton Tradesman Vise

Chris M

birthday present idea...

I’ve been using this Wilton Vise for five years. It does what vises have always done: hold a workpiece during hand operations, such as filing, hammering, or sawing. This vise does those things flawlessly, which is why it is such a must-have tool on your workbench. It is a one-trick pony that does the trick every time, perfectly. It’s my extra set of super strong hands in the workshop. This vise is a lot of money. It’s one of those times when you get what you pay for. Likely, if you live a long life, this tool will be bolted to your bench, in use, for decades. It is an investment. To that end, it is a good investment. I recommend, however, that you tell your next of kin what you paid for this beast so that it doesn’t end up sold at your estate auction for $10. You’ll roll in your grave if that happens, buddy, and there won’t be a vise powerful enough inside your pine box to hold you in place.

Silicone Rubber Self Fusing Tape

by cc
Chris M

Kind of neat to have in a road toolbox or something for emergencies. I wouldn't use it for a permanent fix, but definitely something to get your out of a bind. Maybe used for a split heater hose while driving down the interstate. Adding to my amazon wish list.

Electrical tape simply does not work in a marine environment. Even duct tape won’t stick to something wet. Try getting any tape to stick to a rope or line on a boat. Or try to get a waterproof seal on a hose leak. X-treme tape can do all these chores with flying colors because it is a non-adhesive, self-bonding wrap. It’s not really tape since it’s not sticky. This stuff is sort of magical. You stretch it on and it self-fuses tight under tension. It works in cold and wet, and won’t melt on hot surfaces, so you can use it on engines. It is easy to apply even when it is below freezing. The tape doesn’t stick on itself until you want it to. Once tightened this silicone-based wrap forms a reliable bond even in water. I use it as an insulator around wires, like electrical tape. I wrap the end of ropes with it. X-treme tape bears up for many seasons under constant UV and sunlight and the extreme cold, heat, and wet of harsh weather. It’s so good I use it for any outdoor tape application.

mAP Lite Wireless Access Point

by mark

My peers and I work on networks. Directly, hands on, configuring new or existing network elements. Doing so requires using a laptop to directly communicate with the elements we’re working on. We do that primarily with an Ethernet connection. A limiting factor is the length of Ethernet cable we carry. Sometimes we need to remote this connection to avoid excess noise in the equipment area or because we’re working on connections between devices. Dragging a longer cable around is a terrible solution, and we don’t always carry such a thing anyway.

This little thing (like a pack of crackers at the diner; one ounce), along with an otherwise too-small Powerbank plus micro USB cable and a slim Ethernet cable – Bang! A very easy remote connection. The little Powerbank I use with it, while it doesn’t do spit for my phone, runs this AP for at least four hours and only goes down one bar on its reserve indicator. So I don’t have to fiddle around finding a way to get power to it. Most people see these things suggested as ways to get WiFi to many devices in a hotel. Probably work great for that too. I’m in hotels way too much and haven’t ever had the need to use this for that purpose. It can use Power-over-Ethernet, too, so it should work very well for expanding a home or work LAN as well (without a lot of worry about running power too). While it’s very easy to configure for my purposes (a built-in web page), the options available are staggering. Don’t be put off by that unless you’re a stone noob, then get help. We’ve used a few other types of these things – they all sucked and ended up in a drawer. This one’s the keeper.

The Legendary Browning 'Hi Power' Pistol Ends Production

Chris M

"The Hi Power was eventually outclassed by other handguns in its class such as the Glock 17, Sig Sauer P226, and Smith & Wesson M&P, that offered modern features at a lower price point. Unusually, the Hi Power was never updated with modern features such as an accessory rail, night sights, and the use of polymers. John Browning’s last pistol stayed true to form until the very end." In production for 82 years.... a gun way ahead of its time.

The handgun, which served in 50 armies over the past 85 years, will no longer be made.

13 million frying pan kills. This sounds like my game.. ha

2018's Call of Duty Is Reportedly Black Ops 4

by Jordan Sirani
Chris M

of course they are... DUUUUUTty

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is reportedly in development at Treyarch and will be released later this year.

"Multiple sources" tell Eurogamer Black Ops 4 will be this year's entry in the Call of Duty series. The game will reportedly "dial back" the subseries' sci-fi elements, instead opting for "a more grounded feeling." The report states this is in response to Infinite Warfare's negative reception in 2016.

Treyarch is, in fact, next up in Activision's three-studio Call of Duty rotation. Last year's Call of Duty: WWII was developed by Sledgehammer Games, while Infinity Ward handled 2016's Infinite Warfare. A "more grounded" version of Black Ops also makes sense given the success of WWII, which was 2017's best-selling game in the U.S.
