A New York-based temple devoted to encouraging "benevolence and empathy among all people" through the teachings of Satan traveled over the weekend to the Mississippi gravesite of Catherine Idalette Johnston, late mother of Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps Jr., in order to perform a same-sex ceremony aimed at turning Johnston's spirit gay.
Jumpy the dog performs a number of amazing tricks like skateboarding, waterboarding, flipping, jumping, running on walls, hanging from a tree, riding a scooter down a hill on his hind legs, and even zig-zagging between orange cones using only his front paws in this video by Omar von Muller. Previously we wrote about another video showcasing some of Jumpy’s incredible tricks.
Filmmakers Adam Ward, Andrew Austin, and Paula Kosowski are working to create The Power of Glove, a documentary telling the story of the Power Glove gesture-based Nintendo controller created by Mattel in 1989.
1989. In an era of Nintendo-mania, toymaker giant Mattel unleashes a bold technological experiment to an eager public. The POWER GLOVE: the first video game controller that allows players to operate Nintendo games with intuitive hand gestures.
Despite immense hype surrounding its release, the product is a critical failure, disappointing thousands of children with its subpar gameplay. More than two decades later, however, dedicated fans continue to repurpose the Power Glove for art pieces, hacking projects, electronic music, and more.
For the first time ever: the story behind the world’s most notorious video game controller.

Pop star Carly Rae Jepsen essentially rolled a pitch way off the plate. The pitch prompted historical comparisons to other shockingly bad performances.
After Philip Caputo received a stare down from Shia LaBeouf at a random traffic light in Burbank last week, many demanded to know what the biker, who uploaded headcam footage of the startling encounter, might have done to earn the actor's ire.
Over the weekend, Caputo posted an extended video that offers a possible explanation: Prior to their bizarre exchange, Caputo brushed by LaBeouf's truck as he was lane splitting down the road.
Lane splitting, as it happens, is legal in California, something LaBeouf, who owns a motorcycle himself, probably knows.
Maybe Shia was just admiring Caputo's sweet ride.
Or maybe it's part of his method acting: LaBeouf is currently training for a role in a World War II film, and has been spotted around town wearing the exact same military-style outfit three times in a single week.

Windcatcher is an ingenious technology that allows a person to inflate a large object like an air mattress in just a few seconds, using just their breath. Developed by designer Ryan Frayne, the technology is based on a special valve that greatly increases the volume of air moved by each breath. So far the valve has been incorporated into two products that are nearing production, an air pad and air bag. They are expected to become available in the coming months (pre-order).

A former China Southern Airlines flight attendant who was electrocuted in her northwest China home last week was reportedly talking on a charging iPhone 5 at the time of her death.
23-year-old Ma Ailun was making wedding arrangements on an iPhone that was plugged into a charger when her family says she received a fatal electric shock.
Ma's sister challenged claims that the iPhone was knock-off, posting on the social networking site Sina Weibo that the device was purchased at an official Apple store last December.
Apple China released a statement over the weekend saying it was "deeply saddened about the accident" and vowed to "thoroughly investigate the accident and collaborate with the police investigation."
"(I) hope that Apple can give us an explanation," Ma's sister wrote on her Weibo account. "I also hope that all of you will refrain from using your mobile devices while charging."
Experts said the phone's 3-to-5 volt output would not have been enough to cause harm on its own, but a problem with the charger could theoretically increase the output to a lethal 220 volts.
The Atlantic Wire has a round-down of other possible explanations, including the fact that Ma had "left the bath to answer the phone."

Gertie Cleary compared the experience to a child with a splinter. "[W]hen you pull a splinter out, they holler and screech and pull their hand away," she told CTV News.
The young raven fledgling who visited Cleary's Nova Scotia home last month had just borne the brunt of a porcupine attack, and was clearly reaching out to Cleary for help in extracting the painful quills that were attached to its face.
Her daughter caught the amazing incident on camera and uploaded it to YouTube.
According to the description, the bird, which the family named Wilfred, stuck around for a day after the "operation" before flying away.
Hope for Wildlife director Hope Swinimer commended Cleary on her actions, saying Wilfred would not have survived without her help.
Quoth the Raven: "Thanks lady!"

You expect this sort of thing from passengers, but the driver?: A NJ Transit bus operator was caught on a passenger's camera masturbating to completion while on the job.
41-year-old George Simpson was transporting passengers along Carteret-New York route last month when he decided to rub one out while driving through the Lincoln Tunnel.
The safety hazard was filmed by a Manhattan librarian who later said the experience put her off buses for good.
"I was in shock and disbelief," the unnamed woman is quoted as saying.
NJ Transit agreed, and immediately moved to suspend Simpson, who has been employed as a bus driver for the past 2-1/2 years.
Police also decided to take action, arresting Simpson for the June 24th incident on charges of reckless endangerment, causing or risking widespread injury or damage, and lewdness.
Asked about his behavior a neighbor of Simpson told the New York Daily News, "He must have been really horny. He must have seen someone he really liked on that bus."

Tile is an iOS app that syncs with small tags that you can attach to important belongings like keys, laptops, purses, wallets, to help you find them when they’ve been misplaced. With the app, users can track if they’re getting closer or further away from the tile if they’re within a 50-150 foot range and can also set off an audible alert to help find the lost item. Tile also saves the last GPS location of tiles, so if you leave your wallet at a restaurant you won’t waste time tearing apart the laundry basket, couch cushions, or car seat. Tiles are currently available for pre-order, and are expected to ship in late 2013 and early 2014.

Last April, professional golfer Bubba Watson announced that he had co-developed the world's first hovercraft golf cart. Because it floats on a level of air, placing 33 time less pressure on the ground than the average human foot, the hovercraft – named the BW1 — is able to zip across fragile greens, water hazards and sand traps at speeds up to 55 m.p.h., all while seating four people and holding two golf bags.
The only problem, aside from the contraption's probably incredibly loud engine, was that just one of the hovercraft existed, a prototype presumably available only to Watson and his friends. But now a golf course in Ohio has purchased two of the vehicles for its members to use. the Windy Knoll Golf Club in Springfield will introduce their new hovercrafts on July 27, during the club's first annual Hover Bash.
"We wanted to be able to offer something no other course could," managing director Pete Duffey said in a statement. "A way to further put Windy Knoll Golf Club on the map of public destination golf courses. It was an easy decision. When we saw them on YouTube, we said 'We gotta have those!'"
The club hasn't set a price for rentals yet, but considering the hovercrafts cost $58,000 each, they probably won't be cheap.

Picture this: You're chilling in the house with Josh and Andre when a scary big-teeth pit bull just walks right in and starts peeing on everything.
Luckily Andre managed to push the dog back with a pillow while you were cowering in the kitchen, but now you're trapped inside while the dog is out on the porch throwing up and humping your pillow and the people across the street are completely ignoring your plight.
Sure, you called the dog police, but they won't be responding for at least the next two hours and you're already late for work.
And why are the people across the street still not doing a damn thing to help. HELP!
And you just swept the porch, too.

Big dogs need a lot of exercise — far more than most of us humans can give them. What do they expect us to do? Run? Throw a ball? There are just too many things we need to be watching on Netflix. But what if they could get their exercise while giving us a fun ride at the same time? Enter the Dog Powered Scooter.
These babies, which are basically just Willy Scooters fitted with a clever attachment, start at about $600. You stand on the thing while your dog runs along side and exhausts himself. Here is one happy pitty taking his owner a ride at the speed of almost 20 miles per hour.

An Oklahoma man who caught a burglar breaking into his home wasn't content to simply scare the criminal away; instead, the man bum-rushed the burglar, pinned him to the ground, hogtied him, and left him in the front yard for police to find because the homeowner was late for work.
The incident took place early Wednesday morning, when the homeowner and his nine-months-pregnant wife were awoken by the sound of shattering glass coming from their daughter's room.
"That folding chair was in her bedroom, shattered glass all over the place, and I said, 'A raccoon didn't do that.' And he was just like, 'Oh God,'" the man's wife, Denay Houston, told News 9.
The couple heard something in their garage, so Houston's husband went and waited patiently by their front-door for the burglar to emerge. “Then he bum-rushed him,” Houston said.
Houston's husband pinned the burglar, later identified as Robert Cole, to the ground and hog tied him, with Cole's hands and feet tied behind his back. “[My husband] was just like (nods head), kind of like the head nod, like, 'Okay, what's done is done,'" Houston said. "He's like a super-hero."
Houston's husband, whose name wasn't released, called 911 and then told Houston that he was going to work and that she should watch over the hog-tied criminal until police arrived.
"That's just the type of person he is, you know? That's just the type of person he is. Business is business. 'I got to take care of business, he's safe, the police are coming, I got to go,'" Houston said.
Police arrived not long after Houston's husband left. Cole was arrested and faces one charge of first degree burglary.

A Texas man has now been arrested and jailed two separate times for having sex with the same horse. Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies arrested Cirilo Castillo earlier this week after they allegedly caught him – on video, no less — having sex with the horse, named Nadia, in her corral.
Castillo is apparently obsessed with Nadia. So obsessed that he returned to have sex with her just three months after he was jailed for having sex with her, or, more specifically, after he was jailed for cruelty to animals. (Texas, as it turns out, does not have a law against bestiality).
Nadia's owners realized Castillo might be back when they found a "mysterious bucket" in her corral, though they didn't specify what made the bucket mysterious. The owners then set up a video camera to catch Castillo in the act and contacted the Hidalgo County sheriff's department.
“We have a hell of a surveillance tape,” Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino told the Houston Chronicle. “It is not going to go to, ‘America’s Funniest Videos,’ that is for sure.”
Trevino went on, describing Castillo as a laborer with prior arrests for minor crimes like theft and marijuana possession.
“The guy is practically harmless, except for the horse,” Trevino said.
Because there's no law against bestiality in Texas, Castillo can, according to Trevino, only be charged with trespassing and maybe cruelty to the horse, if there's evidence the animal was hurt. Trevino didn't say if the “hell of a surveillance tape” included such evidence.
Either way, Trevino wants to help Castillo, if only to prevent the crime from happening again.
“I can’t just ignore this and allow it to keep happening," he said. "Maybe we can get him some help, whatever we can do, we are going to try and do.”

Paul and James Bizzaro spent their childhoods living in a house right behind the Statue of Liberty. Their family moved to Liberty Island 75 years ago, not long after their father became a guard at the statue. Lady Liberty was their playground. And their father kept her torch lit for 36 years.
