The Head Of AMC Confirms They’ve Got Preacher – To A Guy In A Comic Shop

by Rich Johnston

It’s been a big hot rumour. That AMC is developing the Garth Ennis/Steve Dillon DC/Vertigo comic Preacher as an ongoing TV series. BadAssDigest seemed to get the ball roilling yesterday. These tweets probably helped it along,

Looks like about seven of years of hard work are about to pay off. I may get to bring one of my favourite stories ever to life.

And now, a Bleeding Cool has learned that the Chief Operating Officer of AMC, Edward Carroll, popped into the Long Island comic store Escape Pod a couple of hours ago, spoke to its owner Menachem Luchins and confirmed they have bought Preacher and that “he said it so matter of factly”.

It’s happening, folks. We’ve heard it from the top.

Here’s what HBO said goodbye to half a decade ago…

Sandman Overture To Be Late – You’ll Have To Wait Until February For The Second Chapter

by Rich Johnston
cyrus.mortazavi

Bravo, DC. Bravo-fucking-o.

Sandman Overture #1 came out in October, and each scheduled to come out every two months, with a special edition of the previous month’s issue shipping every month in between.

But those expecting a second issue in December will receive a nasty shock. No Sandman Overture #2 until well into the new year. February in fact.

DC Comics have informed retailers that they will be able to reorder the second issue for February and all December orders have been cancelled.

Oops.

Here Comes… The Annihilation Omnibus

by Rich Johnston

With the current increase in attention to Marvel’s cosmic line with the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy movie and the current Infinity storyline, Marvel are planning to publish an all-in-one collection to get you up to speed, for merely $125. The Annihilation Omnibus.

Odds are it will include Annihilation: Prologue, mini-series Silver Surfer, Super-Skrull, Nova and Ronan the Accuser, and Annihilation as well as Heralds of Galactus, Nova, Drax the Destroyer: Earthfall #1-4 and big chunk of the Thanos series and maybe the sequel Annihilation Conquest?

880 pages worth. A lot of spacey comics.

Rumour: Emma Stone And Jonah Hill Allegedly Offered Roles In Ghostbusters 3

by Brendon Connelly

It’s looking like make or break day over at Schmoes Know as their Wonder Woman and Terminator stories have come accompanied with a rather surprising Ghostbusters 3 claim.

If you choose to believe that the Schmoes have turned into a super-fast scoop machine, and aren’t just winging it across a chasm to certain indignity, then you’ll be fascinated to hear how both Jonah Hill and Emma Stone have been offered roles in the long-developing Ghostbusters threequel.

That’s right: they aren’t on a wish list, they’ve actually been offered deals.

The parts, they say, will be called Jeremy and Anna. Sounds quite like Jonah and Emma. Especially if you say it really quickly. With your mouth full. And somebody pinching your nose.

I have a hunch as to where the Schmoes might be getting all of these stories from, and it will be the same single document.

Or, for all we know, it might be thin air. Let’s see how this streak pans out.

Report: Superman-Batman Film Shooting More Early Scenes At “Kent Farm”

by Linda Ge

Filming doesn’t officially begin for several more months, but Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman film is having a very busy pre-production period.

They already filmed a football scene (a closer look here) and now Coming Soon share a report that they’ve descended upon Yorkville, IL, where the Kent Farm scenes were filmed for Snyder’s Man of Steel.

It might be jumping to conclusions that this is even related to Snyder’s superhero team-up film, as the Yorkville Patch admit no one really knows what movie is being filmed in their town, though the production schedule – late August through next February – certainly fits.

The Patch also reveals spotlights have been seen so they’re probably doing a lot of night shooting.

What does it all mean? Who knows? But it’s probably not anything crucial being filmed since Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck are off doing other movies. I’m sure the much more exciting news will come when Superman and Batman are actually on set together.

Pharrell Williams And Hans Zimmer Are Working Together On The Score For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

by Craig Skinner

In a recent interview at Billboard Pharrell Williams was asked who he was producing and what work we would see of his in the coming months. His reply included some surprising news,

Ed Sheeran. Usher. I’m going back in with T.I. Beyonce. Jennifer Hudson. Nelly has this really big record named “Rick James.” That’s my jam. Hans Zimmer and I are scoring “The Amazing Spiderman 2.” The “Happy” video, it just feels like people—good people that all remember that we are entitled to smile. I’m very excited about that.

The first Amazing Spider-Man film was scored by James Horner and it had been previously announced that Hans Zimmer would score the sequel, but it’s certainly news to me that Pharrell is also working on the score.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out in the UK on the 18th of April 2014 and in America on the 2nd of May 2014.

Images Of Benedict Cumberbatch Performance Capturing As Smaug

by Brendon Connelly

'Batch!

We’ve had out first look and listen at Peter Jackson‘s Smaug in the latest The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug trailer, and it was enough to secure my trust in Benedict Cumberbatch as just the right man for the role.

These images of him mid-capture are just gravy.

Thanks to the Tolkienerd Flickr and Sherlockology on Twitter.

Those seem to come from some kind of as-yet unpublished featurette. I can’t wait to see it in motion.

Watch: Tony Jaa And Vin Diesel Training For Fast And Furious 7

by Craig Skinner

Vin Diesel is approaching 50 million likes on his Facebook page and too celebrate he has posted the following video of him and Tony Jaa training for Fast and Furious 7.

Tony Jaa’s career seems to be flying again and I couldn’t be happier. I just hope his career in Hollywood doesn’t go the same way that it has for so many Asian action stars and he actually gets some significant parts, with directors sensitive to how best to shoot action scenes.

Fast and Furious 7 will be out in America on the 11th of July and in the UK on the 25th of July.

Rob Liefeld’s Policy On Signing New Mutants And X-Force

by Rich Johnston

Oh fuck him.

From Rob Liefeld’s table in Artist’s Alley at New York Comic Con, he’s charging $10 to sign copies of New Mutants and X-Force, $20 for the first appearance of Cable and Deadpool, and $20 for CGC’s copies. Of course, considering signed copies go for the likes of this, I’d say that’s pretty fair, wouldn’t you?

Reaper Miniatures’ Kickstarter Gets 30 Times Goal In One Day

by Dan Wickline

Reaper Miniatures Bones II opened up on Kickstarter on October 1st. By 9pm EST on the same day, they had 8,226 backers having pledged $908,952.oo. I’ve had to change the numbers twice as I was typing this article.

The project is to continue the Reaper Bones line of miniatures.

This is a very unique set up. You can bid $1 which looks like it gives you the ability to buy the miniatures first when they become available or you can donate $100 and  you get the core set plus whatever stretch goals they meet. As of right now there is only two stretch goals left – $925K… they are up to $921K as I type… and $1 Million. As each stretch goal is met, more miniatures are added to the rewards.

The idea of a kickstarter for gaming miniatures getting $1 Million seems like a longshot… yet its happening right now. And the first Bones kickstarter made over $3 Million. Check it out for yourself.
