The Hoverkraft Levitating Construction Challenge is a fun old-school building game with a twist. Instead of just stacking pieces on regular, boring surface, players take turn at building a structure on a levitating magnetic platform.

Hoverkraft is intended for two players, but it’s fun to challenge yourself to build bigger and better structures. And it’s a fast game, lasting anywhere from 30 seconds (what? we were distracted) to 5 minutes. Bring it to a party and you can have an entire tournament in a few hours. Your friends may curse you for introducing them to Hoverkraft at first, but they’ll be drawn back to it. There’s something addictive about it.

Collaborating with co-workers using Office Online is about to get a bit easier: Microsoft is bringing chat to the web versions of Word and PowerPoint. Sorry, Excel users: it seems you can't yet chat while working on spreadsheets, nor does the feature support OneNote. The Skype-powered chat is more or less the same thing Microsoft has already rolled out across Outlook.com and OneDrive. L’affaire Nabilla déchaine les passions. Bien plus que la courbe du chômage ou les accords de paix au Proche Orient. Car la grande question que tout le monde se pose, finalement, c’est de savoir ce qui s’est exactement passé entre la jeune starlette et son concubin. Oui, et ce n’est vraiment pas facile de s’y retrouver mais rassurez-vous car cette vidéo 8-bit va vous permettre d’y voir un peu plus clair, et de mieux comprendre les enjeux géo-politiques de l’affaire.

Histoire de rendre ses collants à César, il faut préciser que cette vidéo est une création de French Touch Records, pour le site EcranLarge.

Face à une affaire aussi complexe, ils ont effectivement décidé de compiler toutes les informations rendues publiques dans un clip retraçant les aventures de la belle et de son prince-charmant. Un clip qui s’arrête sur chacune des hypothèses soulevées par les forces de l’ordre, et par Nabilla.

Sacré défi, non ? Certes, mais ils ne se sont pas contentés de réaliser une bête vidéo, ils ont surtout décidé de le faire avec le plus de classe possible et ils se sont ainsi appuyés sur les jeux-vidéo des années 90. Nabilla Prison Boobs fait donc la part belle au 8-bit, avec une ambiance relativement proche de ce que proposait le grand, l’unique, l’incroyable Street of Rage à l’époque.

Après avoir regardé cette vidéo, on ne sait toujours pas si Thomas s’est poignardé tout seul, ou s’il s’est fait attaqué par des types un peu louches, mais une chose est sûre : ce clip est sans doute le meilleur moyen de boucler cette semaine.

Parce que bon, rigoler ça fait quand même du bien de temps en temps, non ?

Bon aller, je me la remets un coup, juste pour être sûr d’avoir bien compris toutes les subtilités de l’affaire Nabilla.

After a months-long public battle, Amazon and book publisher Hachette have patched things up and signed a new, multiyear agreement. The engineers behind Project Ara are trying to make the last smartphone you'll ever need. Their design for a modular device has users slotting components — a camera, extra storage space, a Wi-Fi connector — into their phones, as and when they need them. It's an ambitious scheme, but engineers working at NK Labs in Boston have already produced a working prototype, which they showed off to modular smartphone evangelist Dave Hakkens during a recent visit.

A law passed in France, which takes effect November 1st, will require companies with less than 250 employees to inform employees of any intention to sell the company (or a majority stake in the company). This law will certainly have a ripple effect to startups, where deals are often made fast and furious, with the biggest acquisitions in the past 3 years often happening in a matter of weeks.

Specifically, the law states that, two months before cession of the company, employees who have opted in to be informed about such activity must be informed of the intent or pending action. While it’s not clear whether a workaround to this may include signing a deal that takes effect two months down the road, it certainly could make things difficult – a close friend of mine recently, in trying to have his company acquired, so one buyer walk away due to employee response to the buyer in question.

Employees who opt in will have to sign a confidentiality agreement, and, if they are not properly informed, may take action no more than two months after said cession is official. In taking action, they can potentially overturn the acquisition decision in court – I really can’t wait for the first example of that to come into play.

Keeping high-level decisions out of prying ears can be tough - the law seems to imply that only employees who actively announce their desire to remain informed must be informed, however it’s hard to tell what precedent this law might set for future legislation.

Startups move fast, and pitching your acquisition to your investors, your board & your cofounders is hard enough without having to make sure your employees are on board.

Xbox One owners with a Kinect could soon get more use out of Microsoft's powerful camera — assuming those same people are also Windows users. Today Microsoft launched a $49.99 adapter that will make the Xbox One version of Kinect fully compatible with Windows 8 and 8.1 PCs and tablets. Performance is identical between the repurposed Xbox sensor and the standalone Kinect v2 for Windows unit, but this option could save you some money if you bought Microsoft's console before the big decoupling. And if we're being honest, that Kinect's probably not seeing much activity right now aside from receiving your voice commands and maybe handling some Skype calls. Why not give it a new lease on life?

Cette start-up américaine est en train de faire beaucoup de bruit dans la Silicon Valley!

Magic Leap aurait créer une nouvelle technologie: la réalité cinématique. On ne sait pas très bien ce que c’est mais le nom est imposant. Rony Abovitz, son fondateur affirme:

On sait déjà qu’il s’agit d’un produit wearable capable de créer des images dynamiques avec lesquelles l’homme pourrait interagir.
