When Vancouver group Said the Whale announced their latest record As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide, they also shared that they’d parted ways with two of their members, and were now operating as a trio. The news left fans feeling a sense of loss and hesitance  — but they never had anything to fear. With Tyler Bancroft and Ben Worcester still sharing co-writing duties and Jaycelyn Brown behind the keyboard, As Long as Your Eyes Are Wide serves as their most mature and finely tuned effort to date.

ALF es el nombre de una popular serie de televisión estadounidense, que se emitió originalmente por la NBC entre el 22 de septiembre de 1986 y 24 de marzo de 1990, parodiando la película E. T.: El extraterrestre (1982).

La serie contó de 102 episodios, tras los cuales se presentó una película, llamada Proyecto: ALF, que contaba el desenlace de la historia.

El personaje del título es Gordon Shumway, un extraterrestre apodado A.L.F “Alien Life Form”, del inglés «Forma de vida Extraterrestre»). Nació el 28 de octubre de 1756, en la región Lower East del planeta Melmac, que a su vez estaba localizado 6 pársecs más allá del supercúmulo Hydra-Centaurus, tenía cielo verde y pasto azul y agua naranja.

El cuerpo de ALF está cubierto de pelaje anaranjado. Tiene un hocico lleno de curvas, lunares faciales, nueve estómagos y le gusta comer gatos. Fue a la escuela preparatoria por 107 años y fue el aguatero del equipo de Bouillabaisseball (se juega sobre el hielo usando moluscos como pelotas). También estudió Odontología lo cual según dijo no fue tan difícil dado que los melmacianos sólo tienen 4 dientes. Su frase característica era: «No hay problema».

Huyendo de su planeta que estaba a punto de estallar (producto de que todos los habitantes de Melmac enchufaran la secadora de pelo al mismo tiempo), ALF viaja perdido por el espacio durante un año hasta que sigue la señal de radio proveniente del planeta tierra, estrellándose en la cochera de los Tanner, una familia de clase media de los suburbios que incluye al trabajador social Willie (Max Wright), su esposa Kate (Anne Schedeen), sus hijos Lynn (Andrea Elson) y Brian (Benji Gregory), y Lucky/Suertudo, el gato de la familia [seguir leyendo en la Wikipedia].

L.A.-based comedian Kurt Braunohler took to Kickstarter to crowd-fund his project that was aimed at writing "stupid things with clouds in the sky." As a result, on March 23th this year, the following message appeared across the skies of Los Angeles.

Leonard Bernstein's Young People's Concerts: From 1958-1973, composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein (Previously on MeFi) played live, educational concerts with the New York Philharmonic that were televised nationwide on CBS. Tapes of the broadcasts were eventually syndicated to 40 countries, introducing an entire generation of children to a wide range musical concepts, styles and composers. The first concert to air was "What Does Music Mean."

Bernstein led a total of fifty-three Young People's Concerts during those fourteen years, and covered a broad range of subjects. The works of the great composers were explored, including tributes to modern masters such as Dmitri Shostakovich, Paul Hindemith, Gustav Holst, Aaron Copland and Charles Ives. Bernstein discussed "Jazz in the Concert Hall," "Folk Music in the Concert Hall," and "The Latin-American Spirit." He explained the intricacies of Music Theory in programs such as "Musical Atoms: A Study of Intervals" and "What is a Mode?" He broached complex aesthetic issues such as "What Does Music Mean?" (his first program) with clarity and without condescension. Bernstein also used the Young People's Concerts to introduce young performers to the musical world. The sixteen year-old pianist André Watts made his debut in the concert of January 15, 1963.

Acusando de “usurpador” al hijo del rey, un mendigo físicamente idéntico al príncipe se acercó ayer por la tarde al Palacio de la Zarzuela asegurando que él es el auténtico Felipe de Borbón y Grecia y actual heredero de la Corona de España.

“Hace unos meses iba acompañado de mi corte de guardaespaldas pero, harto de tanta seguridad, les di esquinazo para mezclarme con la gente. Entonces me encontré cara a cara con este pobre hombre que estaba pidiendo limosna y era absolutamente idéntico a mí”, explicaba ayer por la tarde el mendigo maloliente que dice ser el auténtico príncipe. “Hartos ambos de la vida que teníamos, decidimos llevar la vida del otro pensando que sería divertido”, añade.

Por divertirse un poco, decidieron intercambiar sus ropas y vivir la vida del otro, aprendiendo valiosas lecciones

Según cuenta este hombre con barba y olor a orines, cuya imagen dista mucho de la de un heredero de la Corona, el actual príncipe no sería más que un pobre ladronzuelo llamado Tom, un joven humilde con el que se encontró por azar y con el que decidió intercambiar papeles.

“Él volvió a la corte convertido en un príncipe, donde probablemente se vivieron hilarantes situaciones derivadas de su falta de modales, y yo, con ropas de mendigo, me hice pasar por él ante su cruel padre alcohólico”, explicó este mendigo maloliente a la prensa.

Ahora que la sucesión de la Corona podría estar próxima, este mendigo decidió acercarse a la Zarzuela e informar a la prensa de que querría recuperar su trono. “He vivido en las calles este tiempo, he estado en contacto con la gente y soy más humilde. Estoy listo para gobernar a mi pueblo”, dijo.

Según este mendigo, “el actual príncipe Felipe es mezquino, el poder le ha corrompido. A él, que fue siempre un pobre chico, bueno y humilde…”. El indigente pidió ser llevado ante el actual heredero. Debido a su semejanza física, los guardas del palacio accedieron a sus peticiones, tal y como ha podido saber la prensa.

“Miente. Lleváoslo y devolved a este pobre hombre a las calles a las que pertenece”, dijo el actual príncipe Felipe, hijo de Juan Carlos I de Borbón, mientras el mendigo era arrastrado a las afueras del palacio y arrojado a un charco de fango.
