‘Neuromancer’ Gains Funding, Loses Vincenzo Natali

by Angie Han

Vincenzo Natali directing Splice

After many years in development, the Neuromancer movie has taken a big step forward by securing new funding. At the same time, though, it has lost director Vincenzo Natali, who’s been attached for the past five years. Get all the details on the Neuromancer Vincenzo Natali news after the jump.

Screen Daily reports Chinese company C2M Media Group has stepped up to co-develop and co-finance Neuromancer with the UK-based GFM Films. With Natali gone, producer Lucas Foster (Equilibrium, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is in talks with new writers and a new director. No names have been revealed as of yet.

Based on the 1984 cyberpunk classic by William Gibson, Neuromancer follows a “console cowboy” (the fancy future term for “computer hacker”) called Case whose life and career were ruined after he was caught stealing from the wrong people. He’s offered a chance at redemption by a mysterious ex-military officer named Armitage.

Said Foster:

William Gibson’s books have been very prescient on the topic of Super Intelligence, which people variously call Machine Intelligence or A.I. As we surrender more and more of our thinking and imagining over to software, we lose something important and tangible in ourselves. Neuromancer tells the story of that (near) future.

Neuromancer has been in development for several years. Around 2000, Chris Cunningham (director of the Aphex Twin “Windowlicker” video) was trying to get a film made. That version never took off, and in 2007 Joseph Kahn (of the Taylor Swift “Bad Blood” video and the film Detention) signed on to direct. Needless to say, that version didn’t come together either.

In 2010, Natali replaced Kahn. Initially, Natali’s hiring seemed to inspire some forward momentum. GFM announced the start of pre-production in 2011, Lorenzo di Bonaventura signed on to produce in 2012, and big names like Mark Wahlberg and Liam Neeson were courted to star. And then nothing. Wahlberg and Neeson aren’t currently attached and neither is di Bonaventura.

It’s been a long time since we got any real updates on this project, so it’s unsurprising, if disappointing, to hear Natali has dropped out. But you don’t need to worry about him. He just recently signed on to helm In the Tall Grass, based on a short story by Stephen King and his son Joe Hill.

Huge 8K panels shipping from China this year

by Dave James
Huge 8K panels shipping from China this year

Thirty-three million. That's the approximate number of pixels Chinese display manufacturer BOE is jamming into its latest panels.

That's right, 8K screens are starting to do the rounds this year.

According to reports by Digitimes BOE recently showed off its 98-inch and 110-inch 8K panels and is looking to supply them to the Japanese market this year.

The new screens are rocking Advanced Super Dimension Shift (ADSDS) panel technology, which sounds like some serious quantum physics kinda extra-dimensional voodoo, but is actually another liquid crystal tech allowing the wee molecules to be rotated in a more efficient way.

The advantages of this technology is it's capable of dealing with incredibly high resolutions (lucky as we're talking about 7680x4320 here…) with low levels of power consumption. Another bonus of ADSDS - and why it's part of these big screens - is that it has a seriously wide viewing angle of 178º.

OLED on the other hand is still sat at a slightly more limited 160º viewing angle.

These first panels aren't really aimed at the home user however - BOE is looking to supply the screens with apps for medical, finance and transportation uses. That said, Japan's broadcast service, NHK, is reportedly looking to start trial testing of 8K content on its network some time next year with a full launch in 2018.

NHK though is also going to be filming the Women's World Cup from Canada in 8K next month. Teaming up with FIFA it will be showing various matches at public screenings in Japan, the US and Canada via 300-inch screens.

No wonder LG is stepping up its high-tech OLED plans - showing off a 0.97mm thin bendy display - with increasing technological competition coming from China…

But BOE is by no means the only player in the 8K market, with LG itself outing Apple's plans to release an 8K iMac sometime this year and Sharp showing off 8K panels at CES in January.

Rolling Stones Play All Of 'Sticky Fingers' At Small Club Show

by AP

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Rolling Stones ripped through the intimate Fonda Theatre Wednesday with enough energy to fuel their entire 15-city North American tour.

The band announced Wednesday morning it would perform a "club show" that night to kick off its Zip Code tour, which launches Sunday in San Diego. The surprise concert at the 1,300-person-capacity venue instantly sold out. And one fan outside the theater offered $4,000 for one ticket.

The Stones played for an hour and a half, including the entire "Sticky Fingers" album, with the same enthusiasm they had when the record was released in 1971.

"So this is our first show of our tour," an animated Jagger told the crowd. "Tonight we're doing something we've never done before... We're going to do the whole of 'Sticky Fingers.'"

The group is re-releasing the album next week.

They played each of the tracks as promised, with Jagger exhibiting the energy of a high-school cheerleader throughout. (Doesn't he know he's 71?!) He strutted and boogied, puffed out his birdlike chest, punched the air and wiggled his wiry frame. He grinned and clapped and urged the audience to join along. And he was in exceptionally fine voice. Who cares if he can't hit the very highest notes anymore?

Keith Richards was in fine voice, too, and extra smiley. With his white hair and gray pallor, The 71-year-old guitarist kind of looks like he's made of cigarette ashes, but his guitar is ever young, and Richards looked like he was having fun.

Same for Ronnie Wood, all cheekbones and sinew, and drummer Charlie Watts, who shared a toothy smile with Jagger.

At times, there were as many as 11 musicians on stage, with two keyboardists, two backup singers, two saxophone players and a bassist joining the four Stones members.

Jagger was the master of ceremonies, and he was in great spirits.

"I should have warned you before, but there may be a lot of '60s drug references on this record that may puzzle some people. It was a great, groovy scene," he said as he introduced "Sister Morphine."

"That's seriously a bit of a down song," he said when they finished it. "And there's more to come!"

Jagger strapped on an acoustic guitar to perform "Wild Horses," and Richards sat down with a 12-string for "You've Got to Move." The set also included "Start Me Up," ''When the Whip Comes Down" and "All Down the Line."

The band used its encore to pay tribute to the late BB King, who died last week.

"He was one of our favorite guitarists," Jagger said, "a wonderful guy who played with us on a number of occasions."

The Stones' version of "Rock Me Baby" featured a harmonica solo by Jagger. They also played "Jumpin' Jack Flash" before finishing with Otis Redding's "Can't Turn You Loose," capping the night with an all-band bow.

The secret-show-before-the-tour is becoming tradition for the Rolling Stones, who played at an even tinier Los Angeles club before launching its "50 and Counting" tour at Staples Center in 2013.

"Next year we'll come back and do the whole of 'Satanic Majesties,'" Jagger quipped.

iZombie: "Mr. Berserk" Review

by Amy Ratcliffe

Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.

It's hard to bounce back from the events of last week's iZombie -- for the audience and for Liv. After being cleared of murdering Lowell thanks to the zombie lieutenant, Liv decided to fast forward through the stages of grief by eating the brains of an alcoholic journalist. Eating another person's brains doesn't seem to stifle all existing emotions but investigating a murder gave Liv purpose and investigating the bottoms of bottles of booze gave her solace.

Her grief took on different forms, but she lost it at the end of the episode and the emotion was important to see. It's part of the whole humanizing zombies thing. She turned it into a revenge plan against Blaine which is surprising since her plot to kill him last time didn't work out so well. She arguably has more motivation now, but she'll still face the same question of right and wrong she did when she almost pulled the trigger last time. Hopefully Ravi will talk her down from the ledge.

The Flash: Season 1 Finale Review

by Jesse Schedeen

Warning: full episode spoilers follow!

And thus ends the first season of The Flash. You have to hand it to the show for bucking the usual trend and not framing the finale around the big, climactic battle between hero and villain. We already got our showdown between Reverse-Flash and the proto-Justice League last week, where his super-speed was no match for Oliver Queen’s ability to shoot an arrow real good. This week’s conflict was much more emotional than visceral. It presented Barry with a terrific conundrum and really played on the various relationships the show has built up over the past year. I’ll take that over a superhuman slug-fest any day of the week.

The Flash: What Those Glimpses of the Future Mean

by Joshua Yehl

Warning: this article contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of The Flash!

The Season 1 finale of The Flash was packed with a lot of awesome moments, but the big talking point has been the Speed Force sequence where Barry Allen sees several images from his past, present, and future. Let's dig into what we saw.

flash_future1

Justice_League_of_America_Vol_3_7.2_Killer_Frost_TextlessIn the comics, Caitlin Snow is the real name of villain Killer Frost -- a woman with blue skin and deadly ice powers. In the show, Caitlin is a scientist working to help the Flash during Season 1, so it's interesting that in the comics Killer Frost is a straight up villain, meaning something pretty messed up would have to happen to Caitlin in order for her to turn from the path of good.

These Stone Tools Are the Oldest Ever Discovered

by Matt Porter

Stone tools have been found at the Lomekwi 3 excavation site in Kenya that predate the Homo genus.

According to Nature, the international weekly journal of science, the tools are the oldest ever discovered at 3.3 million years old. Previously we had thought that species within the Homo genus were the first to learn how to use tools, but the genus only goes back 2.8 million years.

Some large stones were used as anvils upon which cores would be placed, while others were used as hammers in order to create stones with sharp edges. It is thought that these tools are actually too sophisticated to be the earliest examples, so the origins of tools may go back even further.

LG's 'Wallpaper' TV Prototype is Basically a Sticker

by Chloi Rad

LG Display recently unveiled its proof-of-concept for a 55-inch TV that's only 4 pounds and 0.97mm thick. It's being referred to as a "wallpaper" TV for the way it can be stuck to a wall via a magnetic mat, and of course for how ridiculously thin it is.

Marvel Universe to Have 2 Spider-Men

by Steve Watts

As reported by Newsarama, during a live chat with Brian Michael Bendis, the longtime Ultimate Spider-Man writer confirmed that there will be two Spider-Mans -- Peter Parker and Miles Morales -- in the Marvel Universe after Secret Wars ends

Miles originally became the Spider-Man of the Ultimate Universe after Peter died, only for Peter to return later and give Miles his blessing to continue fighting evil as Spider-Man. Miles did once meet the regular, 616 Peter in a story called Spider-Men, but now it seems they'll be spending a lot more time together.

Here Are Gifs Of All The Times Alicia And Kalinda Drank Together On 'The Good Wife'

by Joe Satran
Warning: This post contains spoilers from the first six seasons of "The Good Wife," up to and including the season 6 finale.

When the sixth season of "The Good Wife" came to a close on May 10, it marked the end of one of TV's most powerful, complicated relationships: Kalicia. Up until this point of the marvelous show, attorney Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) and investigator Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi) were alternately the best of friends and the bitterest of enemies. There were runs of episodes where they almost always shown together, and much longer runs where they were never in the same room. Gossip around Hollywood chalks the latter up to a vicious but completely mysterious fight between Margulies and Panjabi, which only makes the on-screen relationship between the two characters more fascinating.

Amidst all the turmoil, there was one thing you could count on with these two: They would drink. They loved drinking, a trait they share with several other powerful female protagonists on TV dramas.

So to commemorate their glorious friendship, The Huffington Post combed through six seasons of "The Good Wife" to find all the scenes where Kalicia drank together. Here they are.

2015-05-18-1431987861-8079182-Season1Episode1AliciaDrinking.gif

The ritual began in the show's pilot, meaning it predates even the appearance of such staple characters of the show as Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) and David Lee (Zach Grenier). That's how integral it is to the show! In this first episode, Alicia and Kalinda work together to crack a difficult murder case involving a faked carjacking. After Alicia presents their killer evidence, and the jury goes out to deliberate, Kalinda tells her that it's a Stern Lockhart & Gardner tradition for lawyers to take tequila shots after their first jury trial.

2015-05-18-1431987898-1029929-Season1Episode1KalindaDrinking.gif

After Alicia takes her shot, Kalinda reveals that this was a trick: no such tradition exists. For a moment, it seems like Kalinda won't drink her tequila. But then, of course, she does. Alicia smiles.

2015-05-18-1431987934-7707923-Season1Episode11KalindaDrinking.gif

The next nine episodes feature lots of interactions between Alicia and Kalinda, but none of them involve alcohol, sadly. They don't drink together again until the 11th episode. Even then, it's not in a bar, but in a room in their office: they drink beer and eat kettle corn while watching TV news related to the two cases of the week.

2015-05-18-1431988039-8472490-Season1Episode14KalindaDrinking.gif

In episode 14, though, Alicia and Kalinda hit the bar again, because they have some personal matters to discuss. (Glenn Childs has asked Kalinda to testify against Alicia's husband Peter.) This time, Kalinda orders a dark beer...

2015-05-18-1431988092-6262329-Season1Episode14AliciaDrinking.gif

...while Alicia drinks what looks like tequila again. But she sips it instead of shooting it.

2015-05-18-1431988156-9689967-Season1Episode21AliciaDrinking.gif

This drinking session apparently goes well, because they go to another bar in episode 21. Alicia drinks what appears to be a martini with olives.

2015-05-18-1431988182-9482663-Season1Episode21KalindaDrinking.gif

Kalinda gets another dark beer.

2015-05-18-1431988228-9069830-Season1Episode22BothDrinking.gif

The very next episode, the second-to-last of season 1, opens with Alicia and Cary finding out that Alicia got the one full-time position they had been competing for all season. Kalinda waits for Alicia down the hall and, knowing that Alicia will likely feel crummy for beating out Cary, insists that they go to get drinks. They start by ordering two tequila shots in a row.

2015-05-18-1431988316-6076505-Season1Episode22AliciaDrinking.gif

They keep drinking, as is evident from the plethora of glasses that accumulate on the bar top.

2015-05-18-1431988346-6286008-Season1Episode22KalindaDrinking.gif

All that tequila gets them pretty wasted. A cute, younger guy hits on them, sending them into a giggle fit. He buys them yet another round of drinks.

2015-05-18-1431988373-3979951-Season1Episode22AliciaDrinkingAgain.gif

These extra drinks send them into the truthbomb-dropping stage of drunkenness, prompting Alicia to ask Kalinda whether she's a lesbian.

Kalinda refuses to answer, much to Alicia's chagrin. But then a call to Alicia's cell phone saves her. Will tells Alicia she has to go see a client, so she composes herself and goes to Colin Sweeney's house, where she finds him handcuffed to a dead female body. Alicia maintains admirable composure, considering her inebriation. Close call!

2015-05-18-1431988410-1505446-Season2Episode6KalindaDrinking.gif

Alicia and Kalinda next drink together in the sixth episode of season two, at an office party to celebrate a huge class action settlement. While drinking champagne, Alicia notes that Kalinda doesn't look as happy as everyone else at the firm.

2015-05-18-1431988573-2916275-Season2Episode9AliciaDrinking.gif

Just three episodes later, in "Nine Hours," one of the best episodes of the entire series, Alicia and Kalinda work on a stressful death row case from Alicia's apartment. At a particularly trying moment, Alicia grabs them two beers out of the fridge.

2015-05-18-1431988636-9835993-Season2Episode9BothDrinking.gif

They drink them on Alicia's bed. Slash fic alert!

2015-05-18-1431989198-858921-Season2Episode17BothDrinking.gif

They actually only visit a bar one time in the second season, in the 17th episode. They return to their beloved tequila shots.

A couple episodes later, Alicia discovers that Kalinda had slept with Peter, one time, many years ago, before they were friends. She's completely furious. The revelation creates a rift between her and Peter -- and, more importantly, between her and Kalinda. Throughout most of season 3, they only speak when work requires them to. Some have speculated that the real-life tiff between Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi first emerged around this time, though Margulies attributed the break to natural developments in the plot.

2015-05-18-1431989242-7090087-Season3Episode22KalindaDrinking.gif

In any case, they finally drink together again in the final episode of season 3. Though it begins as a kind of "Parent Trap" situation -- Cary invited them both to the same bar -- they actually manage to have a bit of fun.

2015-05-18-1431989277-8133208-Season3Episode22AliciaDrinking.gif

They even take tequila shots together!

2015-05-18-1431989347-2365038-Season4Episode6KalindaDrinking.gif

This bar visit sets off something of a renaissance in their friendship. They visit bars three times in the first half of season 4. They sip red wine and whiskey in episode 6.

2015-05-18-1431989381-2828868-Season4Episode9AliciaDrinking.gif

Cary joins them for some cocktails of an indeterminate nature in episode 9.

2015-05-18-1431989741-77136-Season4Episode10AliciaDrinking.gif

And then in episode 10, they go back to tequila shots. Kalinda is uncharacteristically late to the drinks in this episode, which worries Alicia.

2015-05-18-1431989768-8150781-Season4Episode10KalindaDrinking.gif

When she shows up, a few minutes after Alicia takes her first shot, she reveals that the drama surrounding her relationship with her erratic husband is over. What exactly happened to him is unclear, though when Kalinda says there's no chance of his ever returning, it's hard not to suspect that she killed him. He was a jerk, though, so this is an occasion for tequila.

2015-05-18-1431989799-8829444-Season4Episode11KalindaBringsWine.gif

One of the sweetest of their drinks sessions comes in the next episode, when Alicia is staying at a remote hotel while waiting to be allowed to depose a key witness in a case. Kalinda brings her fresh clothes -- and a bottle of red wine.

2015-05-18-1431989853-9096019-Season4Episode11NeitherDrinking.gif

They lie in side-by-side beds glumly, chatting about this and that while drinking glasses of red wine. It's cute. It seems like maybe they're on track to be best friends again.

But then -- nothing. In a big way.

Alicia and Kalinda see each other briefly in the next episode, but after that, don't share a scene for more than two seasons after this hotel tryst. There's no on-screen blowout to explain their bizarre separation, so this is when many (starting with Buzzfeed) speculated that Panjabi and Margulies got in some terrible fight. No one in the press has ever managed to figure out what transpired; it's one of the best-kept secrets in Hollywood.

Whatever happened, though -- and something must have happened -- it kept Alicia and Kalinda apart right up until the very end of season 6.

2015-05-19-1432057374-1243209-Season6Episode21TugOfWar.gif

They sort of reunite in the season's penultimate episode, after Kalinda has fled town to avoid being killed by Lemond Bishop, when Alicia thinks back to two times they'd met before. But the flashback scenes are either filmed in such a way that the two actresses may never have even been in the same room, or are repurposed footage from season 1. Fun fact, though: although this same tug-of-war over Alicia's phone was shown in the drunken bar night in Season 1, Episode 22, the exact moment above is shot from two different camera angles in the two episodes.

2015-05-18-1431992398-6464942-Season6Episode22KalindaOrdering.gif

In the season 6 finale, they finally reunite for real. Kalinda surprises Alicia at a bar just before she leaves town for good. She orders two tequila shots for old time's sake.

2015-05-18-1431992366-6225483-Season6Episode22AliciaDrinking.gif

Then, though, something curious happens: Most of the shots in the scene show only one of the two actresses clearly. For that reason, many people started to speculate that they hadn't actually filmed most of it together.

2015-05-18-1431992454-480308-Season6Episode22BothDrinking.gif

On May 15, TVLine reported, based on some anonymous inside intel, that the scene had indeed been faked. The shots that show only one face clearly were filmed with body doubles filling in for the obscured actor, while Panjabi and Margulies filmed the shots that include both characters separately, and then the footage was merged together in post-production.

2015-05-18-1431992526-68236-Season6Episode22Goodbye.gif

The fact that Panjabi and Margulies couldn't overcome their rumored enmity even for a day of filming made the parting -- likely the last time these two characters ever see each other, since Kalinda is now officially on the lam -- even sadder. Kalicia is, or, was, a friendship for the ages. These drinking buddies will live in our hearts and livers forever. And we look forward to revisiting the early season heyday of their relationship many times to come.

'Game Of Thrones' Did Something Very Awful To Sansa On The Latest Episode

by Erin Whitney
It finally happened, the awful Sansa Stark scene that we'd been expecting, speculating over and dreading for months. Sunday night's "Game of Thrones" was a difficult episode to watch for many reasons, but mostly because the Stark girls can't catch a break.

Here's what happened in Season 5, Episode 6, "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken," and obviously, major spoiler alert if you haven't seen the episode:

Sansa is raped by Ramsay
Poor Sansa Stark has had a tough life, but the trials are seemingly never ending for the Stark girl. Sophie Turner let it spill last year that she filmed a "super, super traumatic" Sansa scene this season, which ended up involving Ramsay on Sunday night, to no surprise. After marrying the awful Bolton boy, Sansa was forced to strip naked and let Ramsay violently consummate their marriage, as Theon AKA Reek was ordered to watch in the corner of the bedroom. For the record, this doesn't happen to Sansa in the books, but instead to "Fake Arya," making it even more harrowing to watch.

Arya picks out her new face
Things got very eerie in the House of Black and White when Arya discovered where all those washed bodies go -- in a room full of faces. After Jaqen repeatedly whipped Arya for falsely recounting her life story (another Stark scene that was hard to watch), he finally decided that while she may not be ready to become "no one," she is ready to become someone else. So which face will Arya pick?! We may not recognize her at first in the next episode, so be prepared.

Tyrion almost gets castrated
Tyrion and his not-so-traveling-companion Jorah get captured by a group of slavers led by newcomer Malko, who then wanted to cut off Tyrion's penis to sell it, believing it to be magical. But being the fast-thinking persuasive Lannister he is, Tyrion argued that no buyer would know it was a "dwarf cock" if he wasn't present to show evidence for it. Then Malko said the most "Game of Thrones"-esque sentence ever: "The dwarf lives until we find a cock merchant." (Those exist? Guess so.)

Littlefinger keeps on scheming
No one has more of a plan in the Seven Kingdoms that Petyr Baelish, who has all of his evil machinations and selfish manipulations mapped out perfectly. He arrived in King's Landing to serve up Cersei a nice plate of shade and told her that he'll get his Vale soldiers to fight for her if she makes him Warden of the North.

Things took an ugly turn for the worse when the Faith Militant brought Olyvar, the brothel prostitute who slept with Loras, into the trial against the Tyrells. He revealed that he slept with Loras and described the birthmark on his thigh, and added that Maergery walked in on them. Basically both the Queen and her brother are seriously screwed since King's Landing is very rampant with homophobia, and naive little Tommen can't do a thing about it.

Jaime fights the Sand Snakes
Finally, we got to see the Sand Snakes in action as soon as Jaime and Bronn were spotted in their blood-soaked Dornish attire. The two held their own as Oberyn's bastard daughters cracked their whips and spun their spears, but now Jaime is in the hands of Doran Martell and we have every right to be worried. (Side note: It was kinda awkward when Jaime caught his daughter kissing Trystane Martell, but then she was all, "Oh hey Uncle Jaime, I don't understand." No girl, you really don't.)

"Game of Thrones" airs on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO.

George RR Martin Doesn't Care What You Think About Last Night's Brutal 'Game of Thrones' Scene

by Ryan Grenoble
SPOILER ALERT: The following article contains information from Sunday night's episode of "Game of Thrones," "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken."

Sansa Stark's new husband is no prince charming.

Following her wedding to Ramsay Bolton in "Game of Thrones" season 5, episode 6, the oldest daughter of Winterfell was brutally raped by her new husband, who -- disturbingly -- also forced his brainwashed servant Reek, aka Theon, a childhood companion of Sansa's, to watch.

And the scene is difficult for anyone to watch, even viewers who sat through a season watching Theon/Reek's prolonged torture and humiliation, and then saw half of Sansa's family get murdered (not to mention that other scene).

Following a deluge of angry emails Monday, series author George R.R. Martin defended the episode, reminding fans that the show and the books are two fundamentally different creatures. (Sansa's treatment in Sunday night's episode doesn't occur in the books.)

"I have a lot of fans asking me for comment," Martin wrote in a blog following the airing. "Let me reiterate what I have said before." He went on:

How many children did Scarlett O'Hara have? Three, in the novel. One, in the movie. None, in real life: she was a fictional character, she never existed. The show is the show, the books are the books; two different tellings of the same story.

There have been differences between the novels and the television show since the first episode of season one. And for just as long, I have been talking about the butterfly effect. Small changes lead to larger changes lead to huge changes. HBO is more than forty hours into the impossible and demanding task of adapting my lengthy (extremely) and complex (exceedingly) novels, with their layers of plots and subplots, their twists and contradictions and unreliable narrators, viewpoint shifts and ambiguities, and a cast of characters in the hundreds.

Martin also took the opportunity to commend HBO for its work on the show; he ended with a caution, "Sometimes butterflies grow into dragons."

Nevertheless, the post was likely of little solace to fans, many of whom vented on Twitter after the episode:

Didn’t think it was possible, but that was the creepiest ending to a Game of Thrones episode ever.

Ok this is never meant to happen to Sansa Stark. @GameOfThrones is about to lose me. #TheNorthRemembers #GameofThrones

Regretfully I am unable to attend your wedding as I’ve watched every season of Game of Thrones

— Grant Tanaka (@GrantTanaka) May 17, 2015

Really. I think tonight's #BlackWedding was way more disturbing than the Red Wedding. By a lot. #GameofThrones

Then again, Sophie Turner, the actress who plays Sansa Stark, says she "secretly loved" the scene -- or, rather, the challenge of acting it out.

Green Room Review

by Leigh Singer

Green Room was reviewed at the Cannes Film Festival and will hit screens worldwide later in the year.

Punk audiences’ notoriety for brutal mosh pits and spitting at the bands onstage is nothing compared to the homicidal intent inflicted on a struggling young hard rock band by members of their psychotic neo-Nazi gig’s crowd in sledgehammer new siege thriller Green Room. Director Jeremy Saulnier’s follow-up to 2013’s much-admired slow burn revenge flick Blue Ruin, shares a colour-coded title and screw-tightening intensity; but what’s new here is the pedal-to-the-metal, adrenalized action. There’s also enough gore and guts to best most grindhouse movies. Blue or Green, Saulnier likes to decorate his sets in blood red.

Here's How Many Miles Frodo & Sam Walked to Get to Mt. Doom

by Lucy O'Brien

How many miles did Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee walk to get from Bag End to Mount Doom? Quite a lot, actually.

Clever Imgur user mattsawizard  (via io9.com) calculated that the pair walked 1350 miles, which equals 440 hours worth of walking.

For Americans, he worked out that's the same as walking from LA to Austin. For the British, it's like walking from London to Niš in Serbia. For Australians...I'm sorry, that info wasn't provided and I'm not smart enough. Check out the full breakdown here.
