Bold U.S. Marine Scores Date With UFC Champ Ronda Rousey — With One Sex-Related Caveat
UFC star Ronda Rousey has apparently agreed to go to the Marine Corps Ball with a bold U.S. Marine who formally asked her to the event in a video that has since been viewed millions of times.
“I would go, for sure,” Rousey told SplashNewsOnline.com, even calling her future date “cute.”
But Rousey is saying “yes” to North Carolina-based Marine Jarrod Haschert one stipulation — she’s not a “first date kind of a girl.” That means Haschert will have to be on his best behavior.
He may be a Marine, but he surely doesn’t want to find out what happens when someone makes an unwanted advance on Rousey. See her 34-second knockout for some insight:
That shouldn’t be a problem for a military man, plus he also told TMZ Sports last week that he plans on being a gentleman.
“You are my celebrity crush, like, I love everything you do and I think you are a phenomenal person,” Haschert said in his original proposal video posted on Facebook. “Which is why it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball.”

Defiance: Season 3 Finale Review
Warning: full episode spoilers follow.
The Season 3 premiere of Defiance made it clear that the show would be darker and more unpredictable this year, and the show has delivered on that promise over the past several months. The finale was notable for switching gears, however. Even with the town once again in dire straits, there was an undercurrent of optimism and adventure to this episode - one that helped offset the fact that the scope of the conflict was disappointingly limited.
"Upon the March We Fittest Die" delivered the culmination of the season-long Omec storyline, as the newly empowered Kindzi took her place as Allmother of her people and set about turning Defiance into one a massive buffet. Thus began a two-pronged conflict for our heroes. While Doc Yewll led Nolan, Datak and Irisa on a mission to destroy the Omec ship, Amanda and the rest were tasked with waging a ground war against these hungry invaders.
Mr. Robot: Season 1 Finale Review
Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
Zero Day has not only arrived, it's already in the past. One of the primary objectives of the first season of Mr. Robot revolved around destroying Evil Corp and changing the world. The characters and the audience were invested in seeing the hack happen and observing the fallout, but the season finale only made a partial delivery. It was a bold move to skip over the actual execution of the hack and to a couple of days after the takedown. But was it the right one?
Mr. Robot has thankfully avoided the usual tropes that depictions of hacking run straight into. The camera doesn't follow information blips through wires and around circuit boards. Other series or films would have stood over Elliot's or FSociety's shoulders as they pushed a giant button labeled "Execute" and followed the command inside machinery. Nobody wants that. However, there's still material to be mined from being alongside FSociety as they made the last plunge or while they anxiously waited for the effects to ripple across the globe. We got the smallest slice of what it was like with Elliot scouring the internet but experiencing more would have been better.

The Huawei Watch is getting ready for a launch in the US and Europe
Back in March, Huawei unveiled its take on the new wearable device trend and it showed a lot of potential. That might actually be an understatement, as the Huawei Watch is a truly gorgeous device that has managed to masterfully blend traditional watch design with modern technology. The smartwatch not only looks visually stunning, but also surpasses most other Android Wear devices on the market, clearly outdoing competitors like LG and Samsung. The Huawei Watch definitely captivated fans at MWC 2015, but since then the premium watch has persistently managed to elude markets, release dates and end users almost entirely. Now, after the long tease, the Huawei Watch is finally coming. Starting today, you can pre-order a unit in the US at Amazon, the Google Store, BestBuy and GetHuawei.com with shipping scheduled for September 17. Canada should get it by the end of the month. Europe is also included in the road map and the watch will be available in Germany, France, Spain and Italy later this month. The UK, Japan and UAE will follow shortly with even more markets planned down the road. So, we are definitely looking at a global roll out. Designed first and foremost as a watch, the Huawei Watch is unlike any smartwatch available today, This is how Zhiqiang Xu, President of Huawei Device USA describes the Huawei Watch and it is definitely not far-fetched. The device is truly premium with a cold-forged 316L stainless steel body construction and a two-layer sapphire glass option for extra protection. As for the styling, the Huawei Watch truly looks and feels like a proper luxury watch. It also comes with quite a lot of customization options, all of which elegant and refined. Initially, six models will be available to cater to a broad audience of buyers. But style does come at a price, as the Huawei ranges from $349 all the way to $799 - a pretty penny for a smartwatch, yet not that outlandish for a high-end watch and still a lot less than an Apple Watch Edition. In Europe these translate to a pricing ranging between 399 to 699, respectively. Watch Body Band Pricing Stainless Steel Black Leather $349 Stainless Steel Steel Link Bracelet $399 Stainless Steel Stainless Steel Mesh $399 Black DLC-coated Stainless Steel Black-plated Link Bracelet $449 Rose Gold-plated Stainless Steel Alligator-pressed Brown Leather $699 Rose Gold-plated Stainless Steel Rose Gold-plated Link Bracelet $799 But the Huawei Watch is more than just a looker. It's got the best round watch display on the market, you will be hard pressed to find anything better than the 1.4 inch AMOLED display of the Huawei Watch. It has a resolution of 400x400 pixels and 286 ppi. The unit runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC and boots the latest version of Android Wear (1.3). Google's OS will utilize the watch's gyroscope, accelerometer, PPG heart rate sensor and barometer. It even has Wi-Fi and can work untethered if need be. The 300 mAh battery can easily get you through a day and a half, perhaps even two and fast charging is quite efficient achieving 80% battery charge in just 45 minutes and 30 more to a full charge. Last, but definitely not least, it recently became clear that Android Wear is no longer confined only to Android devices. iOS users can also consider the Huawei Watch, giving the Apple Watch a run for its...
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium with world's first 4K screen unveiled
Capturing and displaying true to live images has long been close to Sony's heart and today they revitalized that passion. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the first to reach the next benchmark in display smartphone technology - 4K resolution - and comes with a much-improved camera to match. The 4K Triluminos display is an IPS panel has 3,840 x 2,160px resolution, that's four times 1080p or just over 8MP. It puts 806ppi pixel density in the palm of your hand for crystal clarity of 4K footage from Netflix, YouTube or some that you've shot yourself. You can do that with the brand new camera, the first major upgrade since the Z1. The Xperia Z5 Premium packs a new 1/2.3" Exmor RS sensor with 23MP resolution (shared with the other Z5s). The sensor sits behind a Sony G Lens with an f/2.0 aperture and tech borrowed from Sony's α line of lenses. The camera captures 4K videos with improved Intelligent Active Mode and SteadyShot technology for smooth, sharp videos at day and at night. ISO for videos goes up to 3,200, for photos the maximum jumps to 12,800. The new camera locks focus faster than you can blink - it needs just 0.03 seconds so it gets perfect focus even in spontaneous action-packed moments. The upgraded sensor and lens also promise clear night photos and 5x digital zoom with minimal quality loss. Selfie photography is handled by a 5MP shooter with an Exmor R sensor. It features a 25mm wide-angle lens to fit more in the frame and can record 1080p video with the same software magic as the main camera. Audio also focuses on quality and resolution. High-Res Audio handles playback of high frequency sound for a "studio quality experience" while DSEE HX takes regular audio and upscales it to near High-Res levels. For the full experience you'll need a compatible headset - Sony's MDR-NC750 (93) supports High-Res and its noise cancellation snuffs out up to 98% of the noise around you. For Bluetooth headsets the LDAC codec promises a 3-fold improvement over the basic audio streaming. Finally, the phone has a good pair of speakers on its face if you want to share the music with those around you. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a stainless steel frame (unlike the other Z5s, which are made from aluminum). It's painted in Black, Gold or the unique Chrome option (a mirror finish). The body is IP65/68 rated - dust-tight and waterproof with a cap-less USB port. A new addition to the Z family is the fingerprint sensor on the redesigned Power key. Things naturally flow from waking the phone with the key to unlocking it with the sensor, which also supports the FIDO standard for online payment services. The phone runs Sony-flavored Android 5.1, naturally, powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset with 3GB of RAM. You get 32GB of storage out of the box and can add up to 200GB more with a microSD card if you need extra room for those 4K videos. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will launch globally in November, pricing will be revealed around that time. It will come in single and dual-SIM versions, both of which support Cat. 6...
Sony's new Z5 series phones actually use a custom 25MP camera sensor
After a feisty discussion about cameraphones, a friend recently asked me: "Who shoots in 4:3 aspect anymore? Your phone's screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio, your computer's screen is 16:9, even your HDTV is 16:9. So what's the point?" Smartphone makers don't exactly encourage shooting in 4:3 either and many phones default to a 16:9 aspect ratio out of the box. But there is one little detail - cameraphone sensors, for the most part, are still manufactured in a native 4:3 aspect ratio. So if you're shooting in 16:9 mode, you're wasting precious megapixels. Today, we accidentally discovered that Sony has been working on a way of making that trade-off a bit less off-putting. To achieve this they've turned to an already existing solution to this problem - they've implemented a brand new, custom-built 25MP multi-aspect sensor inside their latest Z5-series phones. Sources from Japan refer to the Exmor RS sensor as the Sony IMX300, but we couldn't verify that. The chip debuts on the just announced Xperia Z5 lineup and is paired with an f/2.0 24mm-equivalent wide-angle lens. Sony market these phones as having 23MP cameras as this is as high as the 4:3 aspect mode goes, but the real hidden gem is the extra high-res 16:9 aspect mode. While we were shooting the camera samples for our Sony Z-series hands-on article, we noticed a discrepancy between the horizontal and vertical size of the images produced in 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio. We dug in a little and we came to the obvious conclusion that the camera utilizes what's become known as a 25MP multi-aspect sensor even though they are not advertising it. Photos shot in 4:3 aspect come out at the headline 23MP resolution, or 5,520 x 4,140 pixels (22.85MP, but who's counting). Meanwhile, the 16:9 aspect ratio mode yields images measuring 5,984 x 3,366 pixels (20.14MP). What you'll notice, is that the 16:9 shots have a wider field of view than the 4:3 ones, hence they're not cropped from 4:3 as usual, but instead use a different part of a larger sensor. Samples shot in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios If you were to extract a 16:9 aspect photo from a supposed native 23MP 4:3 sensor (5,520 x 4,140px) by cropping, you'd be left with 5,520 x 3,105 pixels, or only 17.14MP. So the only way that the math works out in this case is if Sony is using an imager with an effective area of at least 5,984 x 4,140 pixels, or 24.77MP in other words. The concept allows for optimum utilization of the image circle projected by the lens, but also means you get comparable resolution in both ratios. It's not a new concept by all means. Nokia first made it popular with its innovative 8.7MP camera sensor used as far back as the Nokia N9 (that was 2011 for the younger among you). With the custom 25MP multi-aspect sensor implemented by Sony the 16:9 shooting mode benefits from capturing 3MP higher resolution while still having the same diagonal field of view, though with obviously wider horizontal coverage. Sony, naturally, went the obvious route and branded the camera as 23MP, choosing go keep the nitty-gritties to itself. If it were to announce a 25MP camera where users could only select a 23MP maximum resolution, we reckon marketing will have a lot to explain. Ok, not a lot more than the above. While it may be way too technical for pitching in press releases, delivering 20MP 16:9 photos is just one of the surprising hardware advances we're witnessing in the new Z5 series. Indeed, with such high resolution shots, who would shoot 4:3...

Naming Drugs Honestly In Big Pharma
I’ve been playing Big Pharma, a game where you design production lines to manufacture cures to sell for maximum profit, or to genuinely help people, as your fancy may dictate. It’s excellent and I have become hopelessly addicted to it, but my favourite part is having to come up with names for the often double-edged drugs your imperfect process has produced:
It turns out this one doesn’t even treat angina – darkened effects are deactivated ones.
Soon a company name presented itself:
Eventually we fixed the sleepiness side effect:
Slightly miscalculated this one:
And lastly, what turned out to be the most profitable drug of the decade:
My lab was a mess.
But I was super proud of myself for figuring out a neat way to fit two Cryogenic Condensers in parallel in this small space – they take twice as long to process things, but they’re big and awkward to run dual conveyor belts around:
This was the final layout of my factory. Blue is anxiety meds, brown is bronchitis, red is bipolar, green is strokes. Some of the same coloured lines are different methods of making the same drug, faster or to a better standard depending on how much floor space I had to work with.
The goal was to make $1,000,000, which I did pretty quick, but the ‘Master’ level goal is to make $10,000,000 before the deadline. After the ten years were up, the pink bar here shows how close I was to that:
God damn it.
