Married Dude Is Shocked Woman He Sexually Harassed Stands Up To Him, Takes Him Down, & Tapes It All

by Adam Albright-Hanna
Mollystix

I love it. Cards Against Harassment!!

Here's how the woman described this interaction:

"I almost made it all the way to my office in peace this morning when I passed these two businessmen who loudly faux-whispered 'Minnesota chicks are HOT' at me. I wish I had the composure to remind them that some day we may be across from one another in a professional setting, and that this type of interaction makes it hard for me to feel like I would be treated with professionalism and respect. But in the meantime, he got my card and a brief conversation about why making those kinds of comments to women as they walk by make them uncomfortable."

These Side-By-Side Photos Show Exactly What Media Bias Looks Like With One Stunning Question

by Erica Williams Simon
Mollystix

Wow.

In response to the killing of an unarmed black teen in Ferguson, Missouri, and the biased media coverage of the victim that followed, young people of color on social media began wondering how they might be portrayed if the same happened to them. These pictures are powerful reminders of how stories get told in America.

The image on the left is the image of shooting victim Michael Brown that many media outlets used in the aftermath of the killing. The image on the right is another that surfaced on social media.

If you died, which picture would the media use? #IfTheyGunnedMeDown #MikeBrown http://t.co/lJMM9a0owk pic.twitter.com/YYxIbPB0xA— The Root (@TheRoot) August 11, 2014

2 Comedians Slyly Explain How Being Black Means You Can't Really Get Away With Much In America

If You Ever Thought The U.S. Was A Land Of Equality, Take A Look At These Two Screenshots

by Andrea Garcia-Vargas
Mollystix

Wow. Nice job media.

In 2014, a policeman in Ferguson, Missouri, fatally shot Michael Brown multiple times. Michael was unarmed.

In 2012, James Holmes walked into a theater in Aurora, Colorado. James was armed. That day, he shot 12 people dead and injured 70.

Guess how the media reacted?

The selection of these two photos and their juxtaposition serves a maniacal purpose. The media are a pack of vultures pic.twitter.com/xBBKjXpuwl

— ✨✨ (@HarlemCam) August 12, 2014

This isn't an isolated incident. Far from it, as this Huffington Post article lays out, as does my fellow curator Erica Williams Simon in this post.

Do we need any more proof that people will be treated differently because of their race?

Could I Have Some "Cruelty Free" Wacky Dust Please?

Mollystix

"We are a team of libertarian c0caine dealers." They are just trying to help to good working people out, give 'em a break!

Could I Have Some "Cruelty Free" Wacky Dust Please?
Online drug vendors typically employ a range of corporate retailing techniques. This includes providing mission statements, "oaths to customers" and detailed "terms and conditions" advising international shipping times and purchasing procedures. In a further stark contrast to the conventional drug trade, many even offer full or partial refunds for drugs that are found to be sub-standard or are intercepted by customs...

At the more extreme end of socially progressive marketing strategies used by online dealers are those that involve the promotion of drugs on the basis of supposedly "ethical", "fair trade", "organic" or "conflict-free" sources of supply:
"We are a team of libertarian c0caine dealers. We never buy coke from cartels! We never buy coke from police! We help farmers from Peru, Bolivia and some chemistry students in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. We do fair trade!"

For The Dignity Of His Daughter, A Father Lives His Days As 'Poop Guy'

by Morgan Shoaff
Mollystix

#toilets4all This helps girls stay in school.

As a kid, it might be kind of embarrassing if your father is known as Poop Guy. But if I were the daughter of this particular Poop Guy and heard what he says at 0:27, I'd totally own it and be like, "Yeah, Dad! That's MY dad!!"

The great #2 can feel silly to talk about, but Swapnil Chaturvedi is right: It’s natural and shouldn’t be taboo. We gotta talk about it! This particular video about India’s poop situation comes from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Related: I like that the word poop is a palindrome.

How Not To Get Raped. Yup. You Read That Right.

by Alana Karsch
Mollystix

Yeah, or you could have a good campaign geared towards those doing the rape...Just an idea.

When a community's response to serial rape allegations is to publish a list of ways women can avoid being raped, there is gonna be outrage, because, duh. This infographic is cleverly disguised as sarcasm, but make no mistake: It stems from outrage about the systemic problem of blaming women for crimes perpetrated against them.

Seriously, though. This chart is based on real advice doled out from police departments and community organizations alike.

A Grammy-Winning Trio Gets Interviewed, But Only One Member Gets The 'Girly' Questions

by Franchesca Ramsey
Mollystix

Yeah, why?

In this GIF set, singer/songwriter/rapper/shero Lauryn Hill reflects on an interview with her Fugees bandmates. While Lauryn laughs the whole thing off, I couldn't help but think of how "funny" it is that women outside the music industry also get these types of soft questions. I mean, there's nothing wrong with looking good, but what's going on in a woman's head is interesting too!

This GIF set was created by Tumblr user stankonia from the 8:00 mark of this video from "MTV's The Masters: Lauryn Hill." If you're a fan or if you just like good music, it's worth watching the full episode because it's got lots of great performances and stories behind the music. While the episode is no longer on MTV's site, YouTuber Bassline uploaded part 1, part 2, and part 3 if you wanna check it out!

Tone-Deaf Anti-Rape Poster Gets Ingenious Makeover By This Week's Internet Hero

by Matt Orr

Good message, stop victim blaming.

There's only one reason rape occurs, and that's when someone decides to commit rape. A Twitter user made that point loud and clear, dropped the mic, and exited the stage like a boss.

I Wanted To Send This Lady A Muffin Basket Until I Learned What She Did Less Than A Month Later

by Joseph Lamour
Mollystix

Long but good. We get to see the dingo again!

Delightful Brit and talk show host John Oliver has little something to say about predatory lending (you know: car title loans, payday loans, and the like). As usual, it's something you should listen to. Pay special attention to the exchange at 7:50 between politician and payday loan chain owner Gary Elkins and Vicki Truitt, a lady I wanted to send a muffin basket to (that is, until I learned what she did less than a month later).

This Kid Just Beat the Living Tar Out of a Hungry Alligator

Mollystix

Wow, I think I would just die, but this gives me hope. The kid should have been around my size, "I can do anything good!"

This Kid Just Beat the Living Tar Out of a Hungry Alligator

Nine-year-old James Barney Jr. of Florida was taking a dip in a lake when a 400 pound alligator tried to make a meal of him. Miraculously, the boy fended him off with a few quick hits and Barney only has bite marks to show from it. In a few years if you meet someone by the same name, be very careful during your game of "Two Truths and a Lie," is all we're saying.

Alabama Celebrates A Confederate Holiday On Martin Luther King Day. Yup.

by Phoebe Gavin
Mollystix

This is still a thing...

I'm a war veteran, a Southerner, and an African-American, and everything inside me cries out in pain that almost every state in the South still celebrates a Confederate holiday. As a veteran, I can understand the noble desire to honor those who heard their country's call and paid the ultimate price, but that's what Memorial Day is for.

Don't get me wrong — I have a ton of Southern pride. There are so many things to be proud of: our music, our food (oh, the FOOD!), our architecture, our hospitality... But I can't be proud that so many states celebrate fighting a war in order to keep people like me in chains — and spend tax dollars to do it.

Wondering about Alabama? Sure enough, Alabama (plus Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi) celebrates Robert E. Lee Day on Jan. 19. Since Martin Luther King Jr. Day is the third Monday of January, they don't always line up. But they often do.
