by Janara Lopes

1280x720-1bP

These 10 Simple Things You Do Are Making Your Marriage Last, Even Though You’re Not Aware Of It

by Samantha Rodman
Indiscreet camera

A happy, healthy, and lasting marriage is the goal of every couple. We have all heard that half of all marriages end in divorce, and nobody wants their marriage to be another statistic. But take heart! It’s probable that many of the small daily things that you’re already doing are helping strengthen your marital bond. So don’t take these activities for granted, because they are ensuring that your relationship remains satisfying for the long haul. Here are the main ways you’re already putting your marriage first.

1. You kiss.

More frequent kissing has been linked to increased relationship satisfaction, particularly for women in long-term relationships. So make sure you kiss hello, goodbye, and a few other times each day for good measure. Not only does kissing have emotional benefits, it even improves immunity and physical health!

2. You express gratitude.

Couples who express appreciation reciprocally are less likely to break up, according to relationship researchers. So make sure to let your husband know how much you appreciate him mowing the lawn, or let your wife know how happy you are with the way she keeps track of all the kids’ activities.

3. You touch each other.

Marital satisfaction isn’t linked with how often you touch, but how reciprocal the touch is. This means, when your spouse touches your arm, do you respond by touching their arm, hugging them, or moving your body next to theirs? Hopefully so, because this is correlated with increased marital happiness.

4. You talk.

A study of 1,000 married Americans found that having 10 emotionally meaningful conversations a month is linked with marital satisfaction. This doesn’t mean just checking in about how the kids are doing at school. Why not try asking some questions that you don’t know the answer to, like when your partner’s first kiss was, or what they wanted to be when they grew up when they were a child, or when the first moment was that they knew they loved you.

5. You go on date nights.

According to research, one way that date night helps your marriage is that you’re experiencing something new and different with your spouse. Couples who engage in a range of new and exciting activities report higher marital satisfaction than those who do the same old activities all the time. When you engage in something new, your brain releases more dopamine and norepinephine, which is the same thing that happens at the start of a new romantic relationship. So, you’ll feel like you’re in the honeymoon phase again, and who doesn’t want that?

6. You fight.

Fighting can be cathartic, and is a good way to get issues out on the table where they can be examined and discussed productively. As long as you resolve your fights, you can count arguing as a way you may actually be helping your marriage.

7. You plan things.

Whether vacations, dinners out, having friends over, or anything else, having events to look forward to is a great thing for your marriage. Your anticipation can build together, and you have something fun to talk about besides the mundane minutiae of house and kids.

8. You do nice things.

Research shows that, in order to have a happy marriage, you must do five positive things to balance out every negative thing you do. These can be as small as putting a note in your wife’s lunchbag, or making sure to make your husband’s favorite dessert. Anything that shows that you really care and are taking time out of your day to acknowledge your partner’s needs and wants.

9.  You laugh.

Couples who use humor have happier marriages than those who don’t. Humor can defuse stressful situations and allow a couple to feel close even during times of tension. Laughing together can make you feel connected even during conflict.

10. You grow together.

When one partner takes up a new interest, the other is not only supportive, but becomes interested as well. This growing and sharing has been shown to be linked to happy and long-lasting marriages. So when your partner finds a new TV show they really like, why not try it and see if you get hooked too?

If you’re already doing these things, pat yourself on the back for keeping your marriage alive and happy. And if you’re not doing them, what better time to start than now?

O carregamento perdido de patinhos de borracha

by Janara Lopes

Bu6OrtWIIAAfk3U

Sir Auggie Fonzwellington Bellows III (Esq.)

IMG_0614From Meredith B.: “My dachshund, Sir Auggie Fonzwellington Bellows III Esq. is a real gentleman and scholar. He doesn’t realize he’s not a person, and he likes to sit like one and pretend to participate in the conversation or ‘watch’ movies. He’d like to apologize for the gratuitous balls shots. Maybe you could cover them with a creative flower or bow?”

Seguradora Thai mostra o poder da música

by Amanda de Almeida

8 Alerts You’re Overworked Even When You Don’t Feel You Are (Go Home Now!)

by Maggie Heath
large_3796279865

In order to be productive, we’ve got to be on our A-game. Sure, we can tell when we’re hungry or when we’re tired, but sometimes it can be hard to detect when we’ve worn ourselves too thin. If you’ve been feeling more stressed lately, or you’ve noticed your productivity going down, check out these eight signs that you’re overworked. If they sound familiar to you, go home and get some rest!

1. You’re easily frustrated.

Things that may not have bothered you a few hours ago are now frustrating you to no end. The copier is jammed. Your coffee is cold. These little things that are usually no big deal are now adding up and putting you in a really bad mood. This is a sign that you’ve reached your wit’s end and need to take a break. Try to take some deep breaths to avoid getting more frustrated.

2. You have trouble remembering things.

Where did you put your stapler? Or that business report? What’s 10 times five, again? When even the simplest things become hard to recall, it might be a sign that you should stop working and step back. When there’s too much on your mind all at once, it can be hard to remember the littlest details.

3. You’re snapping at others.

Becoming short or easily irritated with other people can also signify that you’re overworked. If you were unintentionally rude to people for (seemingly) no reason, try to step back and recognize that it probably wasn’t them — it was you! And remember, apologize to whoever you snapped at.

4. Your workspace is becoming more and more cluttered.

Einstein himself is credited with insinuating that an empty desk signified an empty mind. However, there’s a fine line between organized chaos and downright dirty. If you’re harboring empty coffee cups, useless scraps of paper, food wrappers, or other trash-like items, it could be a sign that you’re being overworked. Make sure you take a break, but first things first: clean your workspace!

5. You’re daydreaming more than usual.

When we’re overworked, sometimes our minds compensate by taking us out of the situation more and more often. If you’re daydreaming or drifting off at work, it could be a sign that your mind is protecting you from the stress of working so much.

6. You aren’t happy at work (but you used to be).

It’s one thing to be unhappy at work when you never liked your job to begin with. But it’s quite another thing to start to hate a job you once loved. While this could be a sign that you’re just not meant to be in this profession, it’s much more likely that you’re simply overworked and in need of some space between you and your job.

7. You’re getting sick more frequently.

Stress can make the body more susceptible to things like the common cold and the flu, both of which are pretty common in office settings to begin with. If you’re usually pretty healthy, a sudden turn for the worse can indicate that your immune system just can’t keep up with how much you work. Make sure you get things checked out by a doctor to make sure it’s not something worse. However, chances are you’re just working too hard. Do yourself (and your coworkers) a favor and take a sick day.

8. You’re taking your work problems home.

While it can sometimes be hard to separate work from your personal life, it’s never a good thing to come home still stressed about whatever happened at work today. If you’re having a hard time differentiating between your home life and your professional life, try to step back and assess the real reason you’re having these problems.
