by Jimmy Westenberg

BlackBerry Priv owners were able to get an early taste of Android 6.0 Marshmallow at the beginning of April, and now the company is starting the official rollout today. For those who bought the unlocked Priv through ShopBlackBerry.com, your update is now available for download. If you happen to own a carrier variant, you’ll need to wait until Tuesday, May 3rd to snag the update.

Among the many notable features that Marshmallow brings to the table like Doze mode, granular application permissions, Google Now on Tap, and more, BlackBerry has also thrown in quite a few of their own tweaks to the OS. You’ll find a lengthy changelog in the blog post released earlier today.

As a brief overview, the Priv will be getting customized personal data permissions, clearer notification settings, a new App Standby mode and the ability to record slow motion video with the update. You’ll also find a number of BlackBerry Keyboard and Launcher enhancements. Check out the video below for more details:

If you have an unlocked model, the Android 6 update should arrive in your notification shade any moment now. If it hasn’t yet, head to Settings>About>System update>Check for update to manually check. Has your Priv received the update? If so, how are you liking it? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments below!
