Character Customization in a Nutshell
This is why I prefer JPRGs over western RPGs. Overall you have very little character customization and I can just leave their names as the defaults. For me that means less stress and more fun!See more: Character Customization in a Nutshell

The Hard Truth
I cannot remember the last game I preordered. I do remember preordering the PS3 at launch from GameStop and getting screwed over because they held some of their allotment aside for employees. If I remember correctly, each GameStop received 5 or 8 consoles for preorders. I was fourth in line to pick mine up and they were already gone. I remember the person arguing with me that they only had that specific amount and I replied, "Yes, and I'm the fourth person here." It's basic math. They didn't get it. Probably because they were one of the employees who took a console.

News: The Omnibus Approacheth
I've talked about this before, but for the past 3-4 months I've been working on a massive book set featuring the first ten years of the comic: Ctrl+Alt+Del 2002-2012: The Comprehensive Collection.
This three volume set will collect everything from those ten years. Every comic published on the site from the very beginning to the end of the Ethan and Lucas 1.0 story. All of the comics I published elsewhere for various projects/guest runs/etc. Wallpapers, artwork, shirt designs, commentary, behind-the-scenes stuff.
Over 1000 pages. Over 2500 comic strips, including the first 500 sillies that feature Ethan and Lucas as the main cast.
I'm finally nearing a point where I'll be ready to launch a Kickstarter to try and fund this set, and I have enough information that I've been able to mockup a rendition of what the books will look like.

The set will consist of three of these books, 368, 368, and 352 pages respectively. All cloth-bound hardcover with foil stamp on the spine, all with the same front/back art synergy on the dust jacket.
I will have more information and details for you in the coming weeks.

What You Didn’t Know about the Sega Genesis
"Blast processing? More like ASS processing, you know what I mean?" - Nintendo Fan Boy
There was one big thing that Nintendo had on the Super Nintendo that the Sega Genesis didn't: Nintendo games. Their first-party titles for the Super Nintendo were some of their best: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Earthbound, Yoshi's Island, etc... Plus, they had the Final Fantasy titles and Sega didn't have either.
Sure, there were a lot of great games on the Sega Genesis. Wonder Boy in Monster World is one of my favorite 16-bit games EVAR, but overall the Super Nintendo catered more to my video game interests.

9th Circuit rules Netflix isn’t subject to disability law
A federal appeals court ruled (PDF) yesterday that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) doesn't apply to Netflix, since the online video provider is "not connected to any actual, physical place."
Donald Cullen sued Netflix in March 2011, attempting to kick off a class-action lawsuit on behalf of disabled people who didn't have full use of the videos because they aren't all captioned. A district court judge threw out his lawsuit in 2013, and yesterday's ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upholds that decision.
The decision is "unpublished," meaning it isn't intended to be used as precedent in other cases. However, it certainly doesn't bode well for any plaintiff thinking about filing a similar case in the 9th Circuit, which covers most of the Western US.

OnLive shuts down streaming games service, sells patents to Sony
The first company to try to make a business out of streaming gameplay over the Internet will soon be shutting down its service. OnLive announced today that its servers will go offline on April 30 and that the company is selling its portfolio of patents to Sony Computer Entertainment America.
The announcement comes almost exactly six years after OnLive first announced its plans in the nascent streaming gaming space. The idea was to take in user input over the Internet, put it through a game running on high-end hardware at a centralized server location, then send back video and audio to end-user hardware that could be significantly cheaper and less powerful. The service and a $100 microconsole launched in late 2010, but it suffered from noticeable latency and image quality issues in our initial tests.
With its pay-per-game service and a limited subscription-based streaming model failing to connect with many consumers, OnLive faced massive layoffs and a drastic business restructuring in 2012. The company soldiered on to launch a new hybrid streaming/downloadable game plan last year, though. Players who took part in that hybrid plan will still be able to play their purchased games through Steam, but streaming games purchased through Cloudlift or the older Playpass subscriptions will no longer be usable after the end of the month. OnLive will continue to exist as a corporate entity to manage remaining unsold assets such as trademarks, copyrights, and product designs.
