This Air Max 90 Is Equipped For Winter, And Looks Great Too

by staff

Not usually a shoe known for its harsh weather conditions wear, the Air Max 90 looks to change that this year with the latest Winter edition. We previously previewed a pair very similar to this one, with a black and red color scheme that Jordan fans would be proud of. The latest colorway has the same exact color blocking throughout the shoe, but instead swaps out red for a carbon green, much more fitting for Fall and Winter. Compared to the deep red pair, this one feels much more like a shoe that you will be inclined to wear this season no matter what the weather may be. On-feet shots can be seen below, and let us know if you’ll be picking these up for the winter this year.

American Apparel Files For Bankruptcy Protection

by Ashlee Kieler
(Michael Kalus)

Two months after American Apparel admitted it didn’t have enough financing to continue operations for another year, the retailer says things haven’t gotten better and it’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

American Apparel stores and manufacturing operations are expected to continue to operate normally under a restructuring deal the company has reached with most of its lenders, Reuters reports.

The Los Angeles-based company says its first plan of action is to cut its $300 million in debt by nearly $200 million through the elimination of bonds in exchange for equity.

It was unclear if the company intends to eventually shutter some stores as a result of the filing. The company previously announced in July that it would close some locations as part of a $30 million cost-cutting turnaround effort.

Filing for bankruptcy is just the latest stumbling block for the apparel company that has seen its fair share of controversy in the last two years. Recent issues – including dealing with the behavior and subsequent lawsuits involving company founder and ex-CEO Dov Charney – have only exacerbated its financial problems.

Reuters reported Monday that Charney’s 42% stake in the company – which was held as collateral by New York hedge fund Standard General LP – will be wiped out.

American Apparel has reportedly lost money every year since 2010. In August, the company estimates that it lost $19 million in just the past quarter, bringing its total loss of the year, so far, to $46 million – double its losses from the year before.

Updated: Apple is the reason you can't get naked on Instagram

by James Peckham
Updated: Apple is the reason you can't get naked on Instagram

Instagram claims to stand for artistic freedom, yet the service has taken down photos that include nudity from the accounts of Miley Cyrus, Naomi Campbell and countless other users – but according to the CEO it's not the app's fault.

Instagram CEO Kevyn Systrom has claimed Apple is the reason the app doesn't include naked photos as the App Store has regulations against nudity.

At the moment you can only include nudity in apps that are restricted to users 17 or older. Instagram is looking for a wider audience than that for the app, so it has to keep to Apple's regulations.

No nipples

Committing to Instagram's artistic freedom policy, Systrom also said: "In order to scale effectively there are [some] tough calls."

One such situation has been the #FreeTheNipple campaign where Instagram has been forced to take down a number of images of naked women.

Since we originally published this piece it's been brought to our attention that Instagram's community guidelines allow for photos of "post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding" as well as nudity in paintings and sculptures.

Instagram will keep deleting pictures of female nipples that don't apply to these terms so it can keep that open rating on the App Store.
