Breaking: News Bloopers are Still Hilarious

by Dennis Green

Admit it, you aren't watching local news for the hard-hitting facts — you're watching because the bloopers are downright hilarious.

For all its virtues, live TV has an infinite number of pitfalls which any unsuspecting anchor or reporter can fall into. May's bloopers may even be worse/funnier than April's supercut, which is a hard feat to manage

This compilation includes a reporter awkwardly being asked on a date, a reporter falling into a mud pit and plenty of cringeworthy eyewitnesses using foul language. And don't forget about the weatherman who just can't keep it together Read more...

Bryan Cranston Drops 'Breaking Bad' Hint: 'You Never Saw Bags Zip Up'

by Brian Anthony Hernandez

AMC's Breaking Bad ended its acclaimed five-season run last year, but the final zoom-out scene featuring antihero Walter White may not have represented what you think it did.

Bryan Cranston hinted Thursday night during an interview with Ashleigh Banfield on CNN that his character could still be alive — having possibly survived his bloody gunshot wound.

"Spoiler alert for all of you who are going to watch Breaking Bad on Netflix — shut your ears right now," Banfield warned viewers. "I'm going to ask you, really, seriously, I wasn't so sure that you died, I really wasn't. Your eyes were open and I thought, 'What if the police just take him into custody, he gets better, breaks out and just goes nuts?'" Read more...

T-Mobile merger with Sprint inches closer with parent companies agreeing on a sale

by Chris Chavez

t-mobile-sprint

A T-Mobile/Sprint merger is one step closer to becoming a reality after reports that Deutsche Telekom has already agreed on a sale to SoftBank. According to Reuters, Deutsche Telekom — which owns a 67% stake in T-Mobile — would be willing to keep a minority stake after selling to SoftBank, but smaller details, like an actual dollar figure, have yet to be worked out.

The biggest hurdle the two companies face isn’t so much coming to an agreement, it’s gaining regulatory approval. Deutsche Telekom has wanted out of the US market for quite sometime, while it’s clear SoftBank is looking to enter it after picking up Sprint for around $21.6 billion back in October of 2012.

But reducing the number of major US carriers from 4 to 3 is a tough pill to swallow, especially after seeing the strides T-Mobile has made in the past year or so. Of course, a lot of that had to do with the large $3 billion dollar break-up fee T-Mobile gained after their failed merger with AT&T (along with AT&T spectrum), but perhaps they have a similar backup plan this time around.

Just about everything is up in the air at the moment, so try not to get too worked up. The public outcry is sure to reach the higher uppers at the FTC, and quite honestly, we can’t imagine a US market without T-Mobile and it’s wacky CEO John Legere stirring up the pot.

LG G Watch Will Work With All Android 4.3 Devices

by Christina Warren
Lg-g-watch
Feed-twFeed-fb

At LG's G3 smartphone launch event, the company had a few words about its upcoming LG G Watch. Very few words, in fact — less than a sentence was dedicated to the smartwatch, which is expected to launch sometime this quarter

We still don't have a release date, or any new images, or a price. What we do have, however, is confirmation that the G Watch will work with all Android devices running Android 4.3 or higher

The G Watch was first announced by LG in March. In this context, the broader Android compatibility makes a lot of sense.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was the first version to offer robust Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy) support. Bluetooth LE is what helps Android Wear — and most other smartwatch and wearable platforms — work. Without it, the constant pairing between a phone and wearable would take tremendous amounts of energy. Read more...

Apple Keynote Will Be Live Streamed

by Adario Strange

Feed-twFeed-fb

Apple has posted an update to its website alerting the public that its WWDC keynote event will be available via live stream next Monday

Although Apple has offered live streams of its events in the past, the company is often selective about which product launches it decides to broadcast — and generally reserves the live video feed option for something big

In October, the last time Apple offered a live stream, we were treated to a look at the iPad Air, the Retina iPad min and the radically redesigned Mac Pro. However, just about a month prior to that event, the company launched the iPhone 5S and 5C, arguably the most important components of Apple's product line, without any live stream option Read more...

Dear Apple: Drop Beats, Buy Spotify Instead

by Chris Taylor

To: Apple CEO Tim Cook

Dear Tim,

If weeks of reports are accurate, and Apple is days or possibly even hours away from announcing its largest-ever acquisition — a multibillion dollar purchase of Beats — then I suppose congratulations are in order. Forgive me if I only offer the half-hearted hand-grasp of an old buddy at a wedding who wants to support his friend, but can't shake the feeling he's making a grave mistake, and could yet be stopped at the altar.

Then again, if this more recent report is accurate, the deal is still on rocky ground (partly because of that video where Dr. Dre prematurely mentioned being the first billionaire in hip hop, a kind of braggadocio utterly at odds with Apple's culture of disciplined secrecy). Read more...

Sponsored Post: How do these guys do this? A mobile hotspot for $20 with free high-speed Wi-Fi

by Mobile Nations
The FreedomPop Photo mobile hotspot

At first, dedicated mobile hotspots may not seem like something most smartphone owners have a particular need to invest in. After all, so many businesses offer Wi-Fi and your phone can act as a hotspot in a pinch. However, there's still a compelling case to be made for a dedicated hotspot device and plan, especially when data for them can be ridiculously cheap or free with the right provider. In most cases you need to save your phone's battery for the rest of your day, not to mention spare your mobile monthly data bucket. Whether you need to keep a high speed online connection on your laptop, tablet, smartphone, or all of the above, there's certainly a time and a place for a mobile hotspot, and we may have found the best deal yet.

If Disney Made a Game of Thrones Movie, This is What the Characters Would Look Like

Ever wonder what a Disney animated version of Game of Thrones would look like? Well, Brazilian artists Fernando Mendonca and Anderson Mahanski thought so too, so they came up with these amazing illustrations. Unless Disney purchases HBO in the future, we probably won't see this version come to light, but hey, we can always dream, right? How Bruce Lee Came Back From the Dead for UFC

by Zachary Sniderman

"It was, like, the quickest meeting in the world," says Brian Hayes, creative director of EA Sports UFC, of the decision to play as the most famous martial artist of all time. "We’re all thinking about Bruce Lee, right?"

EA Sports is releasing its first next-gen UFC game on June 17 after picking up the rights from THQ. Along with a roster of UFC all-stars and title-holders, EA announced that Bruce Lee will be a playable character as a preorder bonus.

It’s easy to see why Hayes’ meeting was short. Who wouldn't want to try out Lee’s speed, power and endurance in the world of mixed martial arts? But the decision to include Bruce Lee created a series of technical challenges: how do you motion capture someone who is dead? How do you, almost literally, bring Bruce Lee to life? Read more...

'New York Post' Gives Kim and Kanye the World's Worst Wedding Announcement

by Seth Fiegerman

Feed-twFeed-fb

The New York Post clearly is not a fan of Kimye.

The publication marked the wedding of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian with a news story short on words and long on snark. "Two jackasses got married in Italy Saturday," the Post's story begins, before describing Kardashian as a "sex-tape star" and West as an "egotist."

nypost

This isn't the first time the Post has thrown shade on Kim and Kanye's nuptials. Earlier this week, it published "a brutally honest toast to Kimye."

"You guys have everything a couple needs to keep a marriage strong. You have love and class and talent, and above all, high name recognition among the coveted 18-24 demographic," the newspaper wrote in that article. "So let’s all raise a glass of champagne — and Kanye, Biebs wanted you to have this sizzurp — to Mr. and Mrs. West. May the TV writers never pen you out of each other’s lives!" Read more...

Get ready for it ... June is #MobileFit Month!

by Sam Sabri

We're gonna sweat it out this year, and you're coming along for the ride

We're looking forward to making June the month we dedicate to the intersection of technology and fitness. We're going to explore and highlight fitness, diet and health apps for your platform. We're going to explore accessories that help you get the most of your workout. We'll look at connected devices that will help you achieve your fitness goals. June is where we all get #MobileFit.

You'll find great content focused on fitness all month across iMore, Android Central, CrackBerry and Windows Phone Central. This year, #MobileFit will be hosted by Connectedly – our newest community dedicated to the next era of connected devices. Things like smartwatches and wearables are leading the current charge to the next generation of health and fitness, which is why we want to use Connectedly, and their forums, as our basecamp for fitness. You'll still find platform specific content on the site of your choice, but Connectedly is where we'll be hosting content that is more platform agnostic – like which pair of headphones will help you kick ass during your weekend. There you'll also find our #MobileFit Month forum where you can discuss anything and everything related to Mobile Fit during the month of June.

Mobile Fit doesn't officially start until June, but we figured we'd get the word out so you can get ready. We wanted to share a few of our plans for the month with you and solicit some community feedback to make Mobile Fit all about you.

Google Said To Be Developing A Project Tango-Based Tablet, Producing 4,000 Demo Units Eerily Close To I/O

by Cameron Summerson

We've already seen that Google is working on some pretty incredible things with Project Tango, the space-aware smartphone project that's essentially capable of capturing 3D maps of indoor locations. The team behind Tango – Google's ATAP – is already working with NASA to use prototypes in autonomous robots to aid astronauts on the Space Station, but now it looks a Tango-esque device could be coming a lot closer to home than that.

Google Search can now pull up you car rental reservation info, adds hands-free reminders

by Chris Chavez

Google Search Rental Car Reservations

Google Voice Search is increasingly becoming one of the most useful functions in Android. With every passing date, it seems like we’re learning new commands — and updates to existing ones — we can speak into Voice Search.

The latest is the ability to ask the Google Search app “when is my rental car reservation,” and it’ll pull up all the relevant info in a handy card. Google likely skims this info from your Gmail inbox and we’d guess it’s only a matter of time before other types of reservations can be pulled up in the future.

Google Voice Search reminder update

In an update to an existing voice command, it appears the ability to set reminders can now be done completely hands-free. Previously, asking Google Search to set a reminder would get things started, but you’d have to physically interact with your device to finish it up. Now, Google Search will listen in between prompts, allowing you to set the time, place, or go even go back.

These new updates appear to have been activated behind the scenes on Google’s side of things, or possibly during the last update. In any case, you can update Google Search right now if you haven’t via the link below.
