Watch This Official ‘Rick And Morty’ Crossover With ‘Alien: Covenant’
This isn’t Rick and Morty‘s first crossover, and it isn’t the first time that Adult Swim pimped out Rick and Morty to promote something, but even their sponsored content is must-watch TV. Besides, a crossover with Alien: Covenant is a perfect paring. Check out the video below, and just remember kids, don’t abuse drugs and alcohol—unless you are frequently attacked by facehuggers.
Brewery Worker Is Awarded Employee of the Month for a Prank That Caused the Recall of 200,000 Beers
A brewery worker at BrewDog decided to print a very unique date as the expiration date on their Punk IPA beers. Unfortunately, that date was a little too ambiguous to legally sell in the UK leading to the recall of around 200,000 beers. Don't worry though, the guy who did it was named employee of the month.
Seriously.

Radio station spent two years advising listeners how to stash child porn
Darendukeswtfuck
The startling "public service announcement" broadcast by Arizona's CAVE 97.7 FM for two years is now off the air.
"Never keep paper pictures, tapes, or films of naked juveniles where anyone else can find them," is the advisory PSA that late-night listeners to CAVE frequently heard, narrated by station owner Paul Lotsof. "In many cases, the penalty for possession of pictures is worse than the penalty for murder."
Lotsof went on to give very specific advice about how to avoid child porn charges:

Ugly LEGO Star Wars characters are the scruffiest looking nerf herders in the galaxy
Darendukesomg i love these
In honor of May the Fourth this year, LEGO enthusiast Iain Heath (aka Ochre Jelly) has created a series of ugly Lego star wars characters to add to his already existing line of REJECTZ Lego creations.
From Iain Heath:
Previous REJECTZ collections include Super Heroes and Disney Princesses. The inspiration for REJECTZ came when LEGO recently released their BrickHeadz range of sets, which was their first attempt at brick-built characters. Compared to the kinds of characters builders like myself have been putting out for years, their effort seemed like kind of a mockery, so I set out to see if I could craft ones that were even uglier than theirs – but ugly in a good way!

Watch Lightning From Above, Thanks to a New Satellite
At a safe distance, lightning can be one of nature's greatest shows, but big electrical storms are even more incredible when seen from space. Astronauts on the International Space Station get a very exclusive view, but NASA's new GOES-16 satellite is making that perspective available to everyone. It recently captured a huge electrical storm as it swept across the eastern United States.
The newest Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES), launched last November, hangs out 22,300 miles over the Americas and collects weather data for agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It's still getting settled into its orbit, but the first video from its Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) is a strong debut. The short video captures an April 28–29 storm that spawned a whole lot of lightning, a couple of tornadoes, and a blizzard in Kansas. The GOES-16's infrared camera offers another view of the storm.
Most instruments on Earth only track cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, but the GLM can track cloud-to-cloud lightning, too, which can help meteorologists track storm severity. Better data can mean earlier warnings, and as anyone who has had to take cover or evacuate in anticipation of a severe storm knows, an extra 15 minutes can make all the difference in the world.

Measles outbreak rages after anti-vaccine groups target vulnerable community
Darendukes$20 says that all the anti-vaccination people were all vaccinated as children.
Minnesota is experiencing its largest measles outbreak since the 1990s following a targeted and intense effort by anti-vaccine groups there to spread the false belief that vaccinations cause autism.
As of Thursday, health officials reported 41 confirmed cases, nearly all unvaccinated children from a Somali immigrant community in Hennepin County. The community has for years been a target of anti-vaccine groups, aided by Andrew Wakefield, a fraudulent former physician.
In the early 2000s, the large Somali immigrant population had high vaccination rates. But in 2008, fear that their children were suffering from higher rates of autism swept through the community. Though research later concluded that autism rates were not unusually high in the community, anti-vaccination activists pounced on the panic. The activists held community meetings and invited Wakefield to visit with scared families. Vaccination rates dropped from 92 percent in 2004 to 42 percent in 2014.

Star Wars Characters Sing Smash Mouth's 'All Star' and It's Annoyingly Good
DarendukesWhile I am super tired of everybody's obsession with that stupid fucking song, this is pretty well done.
You can blame Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show for all those “lol you’ve gotta watch this!” emails from your mom that you constantly have to delete. But we begrudgingly have to admit that aliens, Jedis, droids, and Sith singing Smash Mouth’s “All Star” is shockingly well done.

Kiosk delivers pirated movies to USB sticks in the middle of a mall
At this point, the most common ways to get illegal digital content are no secret. There's peer-to-peer downloading, "cyberlocker"-type sites, and unauthorized streaming sites that demand to put sketchy software on your computer.
But what if you could download Hollywood flicks to a USB drive at a convenient kiosk for just a few cents each? And do so while shopping at your local mall? This sounds like a dream of convenient and cheap entertainment, but it's just one more piracy nightmare for the entertainment industry.
Epic, near-EVE-worthy troll sabotages Elite: Dangerous community event
DarendukesShit like this that really makes me want to play this game.
In the vast simulated galaxy of Elite: Dangerous, a years-old mystery concerning an unknown region of space called the Formidine Rift was poised to take a dramatic leap forward on Saturday. An NPC going by the name of Salomé was preparing for a frantic, fast return to the main inhabited core worlds with information that would advance the mystery’s plot. Elite players could choose to try to escort Salomé to safety, or could try to gun her down.
The event was organized in part by science fiction author Drew Wagar, who has written one of the official Elite: Dangerous tie-in novels. Wagar—with some assistance from Frontier Developments to make the magic happen—would be controlling Salomé's ship as she made her mad dash back to the core worlds; the result of the run would be featured in Wagar’s upcoming Elite novel. If Salomé lived and delivered her message, that’s what he’d write in the book. If she died, the book would be written to reflect that, immortalizing the player character who did the killing.
The stage seemed set for an exciting afternoon of hunting Salomé online, tracking her whereabouts, and participating in some fun player vs. player combat. There were some other “VIPs” flying with Salomé with their own messages to deliver, but Salomé herself was where all the player interest lay.
New, deadlier trend in the raging opioid epidemic: Elephant tranquillizer
DarendukesJesus christ.. fucking elephant tranquilizer? That is hardcore yo
Law enforcement agencies across the country are raising alarms about the increasing trend of finding heroin laced with an extremely lethal elephant tranquilizer called carfentanil, The Washington Post reports.
The drug is 10,000 times stronger than morphine and 100 times stronger than fentanyl, just two milligrams of which is lethal—that’s about one toss of a salt shaker. Carfentanil can be absorbed through the skin, and just a puff from re-sealing a plastic bag can be lethal, raising risks for first-responders. Just a whiff can kill a drug-sniffing dog.
Though authorities are struggling to identify it in overdose cases—and sometimes not trying due to the health risks—carfentanil has been linked to dramatic increases in overdoses, which were already at alarming levels amid the nationwide opioid epidemic.

Found: Mystery Safe Unopened for 40 Years
Darendukesomg mystery safe...
Mysterious safe found during Bonanza demolition https://t.co/GtmFun6xvl pic.twitter.com/tsIxvVuOt8
— CTV Saskatoon (@ctvsaskatoon) April 28, 2017
For two decades, the owner of the Bonanza Steakhouse ran a popular restaurant in Saskatoon, Canada, and in all that time he was never curious enough about the unopened safe hidden in his building to go to the effort of finding out what’s inside.
But recently, the building was a destroyed in a fire, and the safe was liberated. Previously, it had been hidden beneath the floor of the women’s washroom. Once, that room had been the building's office, and when it was converted to the bathroom the safe was basically abandoned. According to the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix, the safe hasn’t been opened for about 40 years.
During the demolition of the damaged building, a contractor, Ryan Schwab, came across the safe, and he was possessed by the same instinct that most people confronted with an unopened mystery safe would have—he wanted to know what might be inside?
Schwab told CTVNews that he had a few leads on people who might be able to open it, although he does want to preserve it and install it in his own garage. Neither he nor the restaurant's owner is expecting to find anything dramatic inside, but Schwab told CTV “that if he doesn’t show up to work next week, it’ll be a hint that he discovered gold nuggets inside the safe.”
We’re just relieved that someone is going to open a mystery safe after 40 years. (Dictate 246 of the Atlas Obscura code instructs that you should never let a mystery safe go unopened.)
