Fowler's two walks were the only time anyone reached base against Hamels on Saturday. To be fair to the Cubs, they did tweet about the no-hitter before the tweet above, acknowledging the first no-hitter against the Cubs in 50 years, and the first at Wrigley Field in 43 years.
Tip of the cap to Cole Hamels, who has thrown the first no-hitter against the #Cubs since Sandy Koufax’s perfect game on Sept. 9, 1965.
Digging through game files, Skyrim fans uncovered two scrapped features that would’ve made NPC death a bit more meaningful. Once upon a time, the fantasy role-playing mega-behemoth was set to include haunting and mourning. Here’s how they work:
Haunting: when a unique NPC with family dies, there will be a random chance that it will—after some time—“resurrect” as a ghost that will follow a relative for the rest of the game. Only NPC with generic voice files (don’t expect to see Ulfric as a ghost), and only a single NPC in the whole save. You won’t be able to fill Skyrim with ghosts (it was left like that by Bethesda).
Mourning: when a unique NPC with family or friends dies, their relatives/friends will do some comment about their loss to you on their hello dialogues.
Somewhat fittingly, vagonumero12 resurrected the two features as a mod, which you can download over at Nexus. It’s a super small download since—as vagonumero12 points out—most of the files are already in Skyrim’s code.
Just as a lot of people seemed to find out how incredibly rad the Key & Peele show is, they’ve gone ahead and announced that this upcoming fifth season will be their last. They made their announcement in an interview with The Wrap, where Keegan-Michael Key said:
This is our final season – and it’s not because of Comedy Central, it’s us. It was just time for us to explore other things, together and apart. I compare it to Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. We might make a movie and then do our own thing for three years and then come back and do another movie.
I’m thinking we could do that every three years – take a year, go bang out a movie. That’s the plan right now.
That almost sounds like a breakup announcement. Ugh. But really, that sounds totally fair. It’s always better to call it quits when you know you should. That’s way better than trying to make something work long after it’s broken. If this is what they need to do to keep that creative spark they each brought to one of the funniest shows on TV, then so be it. We can totally respect that.
When pressed about what their future might bring, Key shared a bit and said:
We’re doing the reboot of Police Academy, and there’s a TV show in the works that me might do for Comedy Central. There’s lots of stuff we have cooking up.
Okay if a Police Academy reboot is what we get for giving up Key & Peele, then that is fine by us. How do y’all feel about this?
Three days after losing to Jamaica in the Gold Cup semifinals, the United States lost the third place game against Panama on penalties. This Gold Cup was really, really awful.
This is the 2nd time in 13 Gold Cup tournaments that the USA has failed to medal. Last was 15 years ago.
But even though the Gold Cup is historically really easy for the United States until the semifinals and this is their worst performance ever, Klinsmann thinks his team did really well to get out of their group!
JK: We did well to get through the group, get through the quarters but Wednesday's game kind of took the wind out. #USMNT
Dancing with the Stars has had many athletes compete over the past decade, from Warren Sapp to Metta World Peace. There are plenty of big NBA stars that could easily fit on that show, and Anthony Davis is no different.
TMZ asked Davis about whether he would make a move to reality television, and he revealed that he was asked to be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, but he turned down the offer:
"Well, I've seen a couple players on Dancing with the Stars -- you know, just athletes not even NBA players -- and I actually got asked to do it, but I can't dance ... I didn't want to embarrass myself [...] but sometimes I do something just to have fun."
This is kind of heartbreaking, since it'd be fun to see him dance. (Anthony, you know they pair you up with a professional and teach you how to dance various styles, right?) But maybe in the future, Davis will change his mind ... or get called upon to save a recreational center through dance battles. One can only hope, you never know.
An important reminder to keep your eye on the ball, even as it bounces off your arm, wrist, shoulder, back, other arm and glove.
We're not sure if this catch by an outfielder for the Lamigo Monkeys of the Chinese Professional Baseball League is the best catch of the year, but it certainly takes the longest time to complete.
The ball starts by bouncing off his glove and slowly crawling up his arm:
The ball gets all the way up to the player's back before he realizes what's going on and makes his turn:
As the ball bounces off his shoulder, he gets closer to securing it:
For a moment, it looks like he's got it after the ball lands on his wrist but NOPE, he's not out of the woods yet:
But finally, he secures the ball with his non-gloved hand, completing this bizarre journey:
So there you have it -- it only took five GIFs to make that catch. If you're surprised by how this catch unfolded, just think how bad it was for the poor batter:
Tonight’s episode of Mythbusters, Flights of Fantasy features two very different types of flying machines: drones and a Lockheed U-2 spy plane. Show hosts Adam Savage and Jaime Hyneman took a couple of minutes to chat with us about the episode and the rest of the newly-rebooted season of the show.
Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key have announced that the currently airing fifth season of their hit Comedy Central sketch show, Key & Peele, will be its last. Unsurprisingly, given their increasing attachment to various film projects in recent years, the pair said they’re stepping down from the Peabody-winning, Emmy-nominated program in order to focus on making movies.
“This is our final season–and it’s not because of Comedy Central, it’s us,” Key said, talking to The Wrap. “It was just time for us to explore other things, together and apart. I compare it to Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. We might make a movie and then do our own thing for three years and then come back and do another movie.”
Over its five seasons on the air, Key & Peele has become a TV comedy institution, launching numerous viral videos and introducing popular characters into the ...
“Native Americans, making up just .8 percent of the population, are the victims in 1.9 percent of police killings. When the numbers are broken down further, they reveal that Native Americans make up *three of the top five top age-groups killed by law enforcement.”
“My whole time at SNL, women were always the quarterback. It was Tina when I got there, then Amy, then Kristen. You know, they were always the ones doing the best work.”
A gunman opened fire Thursday night in a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana, killing two people and himself. The shooter, identified on Friday as John Russel Houser, 59, was described by police as a “drifter” who was living in a motel.
As moviegoers settled in for the comedy “Trainwreck,” John Russell Houser stood up and fired 13 shots using a .40-caliber handgun, police said. Authorities also said that Houser had parked his car near the theater’s exit, so that he could get a quit escape. But when he reportedly tried to leave with others in the theater who were trying to flee, and he saw police responding, he turned into the crowd and shot himself
Police identified the two victims as 21-year-old Mayci Breaux and 33-year-old Jillian Johnson. Nine other people were wounded. Both are being hailed as heroes for saving their friends.
Teachers Jena Meaux and Ali Martin survived the attack, but both reportedly suffered gunshot wounds. Gov. Bobby Jindal says one of the women leaped in front of the other in an effort to protect her – and that the second woman then activated a fire alarm in the theater.
“The sound of that alarm caused an evacuation of the rest of the movie theater,” The Times-Picayune reports, citing a witness who was at another movie showing in the theater.
Jindal described what happened:
“One teacher literally jumping over her friend, potentially saving her life. Second teacher felt like that bullet would have hit her in the head if her friend hadn’t jumped on her. The second teacher was shot anyway, in the leg — had the presence of mind to pull that fire alarm.”
Several news stations are already pinning the “mental illness” and “lone wolf” narrative on this terrorist.
Police are still looking for a motive for the shooter, but so far no futher details have surfaced.
“In Ukraine, I was police detective. I shot many criminals. Then, I was brilliant scientist, but I quit to be with my family. […] But now, I am with my sestra, having adventures.”
Showbiz 411 has details on the production, which will film this fall under the code name Chess. We’ve had very little to go on so far — Tatum is starring with Rupert Wyatt directing, based on a treatment by comics writer Chris Claremont and a screenplay by RoboCop remake scribe Josh Zetumer.
But the report reveals a list of character descriptions that, while vague, give us a little bit of an idea about plot:
Louis– Male, any ethnicity, 40s-50s. Elegant and intelligent. An appealing entrepreneur with an unexpected dark side.
Vera– Female, any ethnicity, mid 20s – early 30s. Beautiful, smart, tough, fiery and unpredictable.
Wes– Male, any ethnicity, mid 20s – mid 30s. Aspirational but weak minded. Soulful and sensitive.
Fritz– Male, any ethnicity, 40s – 50s. A professional thief. Charismatic con-artist. Warm hearted but untrustworthy.
Nash– Male, any ethnicity, mid 20s – early 30s. A potent threat. Heir to his mother’s business. Malevolent.
Willhelm– Male, any ethnicity, 30s. Dangerous street criminal. Protective and loyal to his family. Intensely loyal and violent.
It looks as though Gambit will be sort of a crime movie, involving the criminal guilds that were integral to his backstory in the comics. The names don’t seem familiar, but the elements are definitely in place.
Tatum has said that he won’t be appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse, and it’s unclear if Fox intends to introduce his character in another film prior to Gambit’s October 7, 2016 release date.
The way I see it, “Slave Leia” embodies the objectification, sexism, and fetishization of Princess Leia in that metal bikini in Return of the Jedi, while also highlighting that she was passive and helpless at the mercy of Jabba the Hutt.
“Leia the Huttslayer” is a badass who takes matters into her own hands and strangles the life out of that disgusting sexist slug that dared to control her with the very chain he tried to leash her with. (Also, it’s way more metal, and if a girl’s gotta wear a metal bikini she’s earned a metal epithet to go with it.)
