We asked for gaming photos from your childhood. The response was more adorable, touching and nostalgic than we could have hoped. Below are a collection of tweets from readers who were willing to share their memories of gaming as a kid.

Proof '90s kids playing video games are cooler than kids today
Tim.cullingsThis is awesome, I have to find my old pics now. I have one of Stu and I playing Atari 2600 somewhere that will be a home run. Heck we might have been playing Home Run.
But WHAT CAN BE DONE: dos and don'ts to combat online sexism
Tim.cullingsThis is good. Makes me feel woefully inadequate in my stance against sexism but I am glad for the advice and will put it to use.
Editor's Note: After publishing Brianna Wu's excellent opinion piece on the level of harassment women have to deal with in the game industry earlier this week, we received a lot of feedback. One question we received from some frustrated readers was: What can I do to make a difference? To help answer this, we've reprinted this post from Leigh Alexander's blog with her permission.
Is Troy the new Brooklyn?
Tim.cullingsWhat say you former Troy residents?
In some quarters in Troy, it’s repeated like a mantra. Troy is the new Brooklyn. Troy is the new Brooklyn. Troy is the … well, you get the idea.
To some of you, the sentence may seem patently ridiculous. It is ridiculous if you take it literally. One city cannot become another. And Troy, a city with just under 50,000 people, can only have so much in common with a sprawling New York borough of 2.6 million - large enough to be the country’s fourth-largest city, if it stood on its own.
New Music Discovery: Weezer "Back To The Shack"
Tim.cullingsWell its not terrible and I think it is a musical mea culpa. I don't know that it has a lot of staying power but its a pretty listenable little radio friendly rock tune.
Don't hate that they want you to "turn up the radio, turn off those stupid singing shows". Good job, Weezer!

Full Motion Vision Quest: Every FMV game, reviewed
Tim.cullingsThis awesome and terrifying. I played my share of these back in the day when they were popular and probably still have one or two laying around for my Sega CD.
Our own Justin McElroy is reviewing every FMV game because he is broken inside.
Kim Kardashian's game is making millions of dollars because … it's not terrible
Tim.cullingsLoading the shotgun...I interviewed for a QA job at the studio that made this game. I think I am glad I didn't get it.
Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, the mobile role-playing game featuring the socialite herself, is forecast to make $200 million this year, which is significantly more than what most video games make in their lifetime. While it may be easy to attribute most of those earnings to her rabid fan base, which has been known to throw money at anything the Kardashian Klan puts its name on, there might be more to its success than just a pretty face.
"There are a couple of things," said the co-founder of Drexel University's game design program, Frank Lee. "If the gameplay itself was really horrible, it probably wouldn't sell as well. Certainly having her name attached to it and given the amount of media interest she's able to generate is a great help,...

We're streaming the Destiny beta
Tim.cullingsGot to play it over at my friend's house last night (he works for Bungie). I am sold.
The beta for Bungie's shared-world shooter Destiny kicks off today, and we'll be streaming the first few hours of gameplay live on Twitch — that is, just as soon as we get on and fight tooth and nail for that precious download bandwidth.
We'll be streaming the PlayStation 4 version of the game, hopefully battling alongside many of you. For those of you who are unfortunately stuck at work or otherwise without access to the Destiny beta, enjoy our online shenanigans. If you have questions about the game or requests for us to do something in particular, we'll be keeping an eye on Twitch chat and the comments in this post.
You can watch our individual streams on Twitch (Brian Crecente, Dave Tach and Michael McWhertor) or watch embedded...

NFL 'Sunday Ticket' coming back to consoles and mobile, no DirecTV subscription required
Tim.cullingsthere is not a big enough font to say FINALLY!!!!!
The "Sunday Ticket" service offered by DirecTV — essentially delivering every Sunday afternoon NFL game except the one involving your local team — appears to be coming to personal computers, consoles, tablets and mobile devices this season, with no subscription to the satellite provider necessary.
Technically, the service is intended for those who are unable to use DirecTV, perhaps because of their location or building restrictions. You'll need to complete a form to learn if you're eligible for the service. Places like apartment buildings and college dormitories can pick any of the streaming options. But some homes may be ineligible for the streaming service, because DirecTV would like those residents to subscribe to their satellite...

Watch DJ Jazzy Jeff and Questlove remix the Super Mario Bros. theme
One gaming's most enduring tunes, the Super Mario Bros. theme reaches heretofore unknown heights of groove and danceability in the hands of DJ Jazzy Jeff and Questlove. Jeff challenged electronic artist Jeremy Ellis to a beat duel on the classic song at Philadelphia's Welcome America Jam last week.
Let us know who you think came out on top in comments, but until we see Uncle Phil repeatedly tossing Ellis out of his Bel Air mansion, Jeff will always be tops in our hearts.
A Tumblr Dedicated To Sad Brazilians
Tim.cullingsOh this is good.
Brazil spent over $13 billion dollars preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2014, a controversial move that incited fiery protests against Brazil and the World Cup, and caused people around the world to wonder how they could spend so much money on building several stadiums when poverty runs rampant throughout their country.
Brazil played on despite the controversy, making it to the semifinals where they were soundly defeated by Germany 7-1, in a sport that regularly ends with less than three points total being scored during the game.
Needless to say this resounding failure made Brazilian futbol fans very angry, and very, very sad, which prompted some fan of sports fan sadness to create a Tumblr called Sad Brazilians, quite possibly the saddest sports related site ever created.
Sorry about your loss Brazil, but at least you have a bunch of shiny stadiums so you can practice and prepare for World Cup 2018!

These Rarely Seen Maps Turn Earth Into A Land From A Fantasy Novel
Tim.cullingsI like how imaginative some of these are rather than being all function over form.
While each of these maps is incredibly striking, it isn't always easy to recognize the places within them as spots on our Earth. Some of them look straight out a J.R.R. Tolkien novel, while others are more fanciful takes on familiar countries.http://io9.com/a-collection-o...

Boeing 767 Nearly Lands On An Airbus In Barcelona
Tim.cullingsHoly crap. That would be intense.
Coming in for a landing at Barcelona, this Boeing 767 almost took out an Airbus 340 that was meandering around the runway. I imagine it must have been pretty jarring for the passengers, and the pilot had to be sweating, it's not exactly a Cessna.
But I don'tknow... It looks to me like he had the landing... - Zach

Help Ayron Jones Raise Money To Make A Music Video, Hit The Road
Tim.cullingsSo glad they hit their goal. Hopefully its on to bigger and better things. He is a true virtuoso on guitar and more people need to see him. Time for Seattle to restore the rock.
Now fast forward just a few years to 2014 where artists of all types come up with an idea, and rather than saving up the money, they ask you to help out up front. When you really love an artist and they need money to buy a new van, build a cyborg drummer, or rent some studio time, they set up a Kickstarter and you can donate.
That's just what Seattle artists like the Grizzled Mighty did to make a record. Now my pal Ayron Jones wants to take his career up a notch. Having played his heart out in Seattle, the dude wants to shoot a new video and hit the road to expand the buzz he has here at home to the rest of the country. Go here and help AJ and the Way!

Roccat moves ahead with development of Sova, lapboard for living-room gaming
Tim.cullingsDo want. I use my laptop like a desktop at home, hooked up to a mouse & keyboard and monitor while I sit in my recliner. This looks more usable and compact than what I have now.
Roccat Studios will continue development on the Sova, the company's modular board to enable keyboard-and-mouse gaming in the living room, and chronicle the process on its blog, the peripheral manufacturer announced today.
Hamburg, Germany-based Roccat brought a prototype of the Sova to E3 2014 last month in order to get feedback about the device. According to the Sova website, the lapboard debuted to a 96 percent positive reception, which gave Roccat the support it was looking for.
"We are thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response we have received for the Sova," said René Korte, CEO and founder of Roccat, in a press release today. "We're ready to go full speed into our refinement process, and want our fans to see the hard work...
Murdered: Soul Suspect developer closes Redmond HQ less than a month after game's release
Tim.cullingsThe truth is even worse than what the press knows. Shitty way to end but they kept it going longer than even I expected and I had an absolute blast working there.
Airtight Games, the Washington based game studio best known for the 2014 release Murdered: Soul Suspect, quietly closed the doors of its Redmond headquarters less than a month after the launch of the ghostly action game, Geekwire reports.
The company's former office space is currently shuttered, with a sign outside the premises confirming its closure.
Earlier in the year, the company confirmed to Polygon a small nuber of layoffs, describing it as a "part of a necessary restructuring."
Prior to this, company president Jim Deal confirmed to IGN at the time that existing projects were on schedule. "Layoffs like this are regrettable but part of the natural ebb and flow of game production," he wrote. "Airtight Games is actively seeking...
Everything You Wanted In The '80s Was A Prize On Double Dare
Tim.cullingsSo true, man did I want to go on that show as a kid.
From Yamaha keyboards to white willow picnic baskets from Pier 1 Imports, Nickelodeon's Double Dare game show was a treasure trove of late '80s family hopes and dreams. Here's more than ten minutes of fabulous prizes.
Your work contradicts Einstein, so what's next? A haptic gaming vest, obviously
Tim.cullingsReady Player One?
I don’t know how to feel about the KOR-FX gaming vest, and it’s not the fault of inventor Shahriar Afshar. There have been so many gimmicky products that claim to do the same thing, to put you "inside" the game, and there is no denying that wearing the hardware makes you look like an extra from a low-rent science fiction film.
