Jessie the Australian Kelpie

by DogPerDay

Our dog Jessie is about 13 years old. She still tries to get people to throw balls, sticks, newspapers for her even though she can hardly walk. Submitted by Leonard G.

Mid-Week Break

by Paul Taylor

My shoulder wasn’t as painful to sleep on last night, mostly keeping it close to me or wrapped in the blanket so I wouldn’t move about too much, but still sore.  The exercises given by my doctor have done nothing for the feeling of instability.  Will be following up with a new doctor and possible physical therapy.  Shooting for a comic Friday. ^_^

Software Development

Update: It turns out the cannon has a motorized base, and can make holes just fine using the barrel itself as a battering ram. But due to design constraints it won't work without a projectile loaded in, so we still need those drills.

Some Words About This Thing I’ve Been Making

by Howard Tayler

I began creating Schlock Mercenary in March of 2000. That’s 18.25 years ago. It’s 91% of two decades. It’s longer than half my children have been alive. It’s longer than a lot of things.

Book 18, Mandatory Failure, is wrapping up. A week from today we’ll see the first panels of Book 19, A Function of Firepower, and as currently outlined that book should run for about as long as this one did. Sometime in or about the early summer of 2019, Book 20 will begin. That book, which will run for about the length of a book, is outlined in a manner that should wrap things up satisfactorily. The twenty-year-long (by then, anyway) Schlock Mercenary mega-arc will draw to a close.

It might be useful to consider books 18, 19, and 20 as a trilogy, especially in light of the fact that trilogy-style is the way I’m writing them. Book 18 will end with some unresolved threads, which Book 19 will pick up. Book 19 will will also end with some unresolved threads, which Book 20 will pick up.

As to what comes after Book 20, I remain firm in my twin commitments to 1) keep making Schlock Mercenary and 2) not launch another twenty-year story arc. We can talk about those plans in a couple of years. For now I have some comics to ink.

Are we all suited up to go?

by David Willis

manyfacesAnd here are Jason and Sal’s final looks for the duration of the series! You can see a bit of Sal’s standard Dumbing of Age motorcycle outfit here, with the striped section going up the inside of the armpit and down the pants. And, of course, a continuation of the gloves that she adopted halfway through It’s Walky!, but would keep essentially forever.

Meanwhile, Jason adopts a trenchcoat and continues to drop his bowtie in favor of turtleneck. Unlike Sal’s evolution, that didn’t stick, and I went back to the bowties again in Dumbing of Age.

To the left is another limited print featuring her various looks through the years, titled “The Many Faces of Sal.”

Mid-Week Break

by Paul Taylor

My shoulder has been on and off feeling unstable, and it’s not really when doing anything strenuous, just reaching for things or walking.  The last few nights I’ve been woken by sharp pain from my shoulder, not sure why now out of nowhere.  I’m going to be going to my regular doctor and looking into possible Physical Therapy. *fingers crossed*

What they’re saying

Here are some recent comments from my Patreon backers…

“While the Gadget Girl
and Dragonelle pictures are sexy,
I find myself most fascinated with that
curious look on Amazing Amazon’s face.”

— C.D.

“Must be nice to get out of that hot,
sweaty leather catsuit and into some nice,
cool chainmail. I’d go questing
with Catnip any day!”

— M.O.

“Brad, I REALLY like the way you draw eyes
and faces to represent expressions.
One of my favorite parts
about the expressions on the females
when they orgasm.”

— D.H.

“This is really hot!”

— S.S.N.

“I’m a touch curious what ‘position’
Amazing Amazon had in mind for Gadget Girl,
especially now that she has,
ahem, even more to offer.”

— C.D.

“Ah, excellent go ahead and
just delve into my mind more, Brad.”

— H.L.
