Grasshopper Manufacture and Japanese game publisher 5pb are adapting Liberation Maiden, the 3DS/iOS game in which the teenage president of Japan shoots down enemy structures from her flying mech, into a visual novel for PS3.

Liberation Maiden SIN stars Kaido Kiyoto, chief of staff to president Shoko Ozora, and also, naturally, a mind reader. He works with the president and her cabinet of young women, because this is a visual novel and what would it even be about if not choosing who to date?

This game involves a large portion of the Japanese game industry in some nominal way. 5pb is publishing a game based on a universe originally published by Level-5; Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture designed the original game, and Suda is writing scenarios for this one; Grasshopper is now part of Gungho Online Entertainment, which is itself now part of telecom company Softbank.

Bitcoin exchange BitFloor is closing its doors, halting trading and announcing that it will return everyone’s funds. In an announcement on its main site, the company’s founder, Roman Shtylman, says that "due to circumstances outside [BitFloor’s] control" it "must cease all trading operations indefinitely." More specifically, BitFloor says that because its US bank account is closing it won’t be able to provide the same level of dollar deposits and withdrawals that it has been up to this point. The news comes after weeks of DDoS attacks and technical problems at leading exchange Mt. Gox and a roller coaster ride of price fluctuations that saw Bitcoin tank from a high of over $200 back down to a low below $70. The news was reported by The Next Web.

Back in September, BitFloor was hit with a $250,000 theft after an attacker got access to an unencrypted backup set of keys for the exchange’s wallet — the software through which people (and organizations) access and transfer their coins. The exchange managed to get back online within a few weeks, with Shtylman announcing his intention to repay the stolen funds.

Overall, BitFloor is tiny compared to Mt. Gox — it does less than four percent of that exchange’s trading volume — but it represented an important alternative in the highly concentrated market. At this point it’s still unclear what exactly happened with BitFloor’s US bank account that required such a speedy exit, but a Reddit user points out that the exchange is registered with FinCEN — the US Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network — indicating that everything was seemingly above board with the US government. We’ve reached out to Bitfloor for comment on what precipitated the closure, and will update if and when we hear back.

Danish studio Full Control is developing a new Jagged Alliance game that it says "returns the franchise to the tactical turn-based action of the original games," according to an announcement. The developer of Jagged Alliance: Flashback says it hopes to fund the game through a Kickstarter campaign planned to launch next week.

Details on Jagged Alliance: Flashback are slim, but Full Control says the game will be set in the mid-1980s on the Caribbean Island of San Cristobal and will focus on Cold War-era conflict. The developer calls it "not just a reboot, but a reset" of the franchise.

Jagged Alliance: Flashback was announced earlier this month as a multiplatform title. Full Control is also developing a video game based on Space Hulk, which is bound for Windows PC, Mac and iOS.

Last year, Sony tried to take a chunk out of the GoPro-style wearable camera market with its own Action Cam, but its latest accessory could reach beyond the typical audience of extreme sports fanatics — the company has announced a dog-mounted camera bracket designed to give you footage from a pet's-eye view. The AKA-DM1's harness is adjustable, but is only designed for dogs over 15 kilograms (33 pounds) with a belly circumference of between 50 to 80 centimeters.

It's out on April 26th for ¥5,250 (about $54), with no word yet on a release elsewhere. Given the high popularity of canine fashion in Japan, however, we wouldn't be altogether surprised if Sony decided to keep this particular product in its homeland.

I played a beta of Monaco about, ooh, two years ago. Back then, I was already impressed with the top-down steal(th) game’s interesting take on co-op thievery. It was one of those games that already felt complete, and I expected a few months more polish was all it needed. Craig of two years ago was such an optimist! Well, we all know the truth, and the game did not make my launch window. I was made to look a fool! But I can’t stay mad at Monaco. It will finally be out on April 24th, and there’s a trailer showing of where all that time was spent.

He coded charm into his game. I was seething with anger before I watched it, but 1m29s later a happy calm settled on me.
