Photographer Takes Aerial Photos Of Daily Commuters Around Mexico In His Series “Carpoolers” (86 Pics)

by Hidrėlėy

The journey of daily commuters around Mexico is captured in the photo series "Carpoolers" by Alex Cartagena.

Looking down at the picture, we take in each scene as it appears, eventually lulled into a pattern that resembles the haze of a prolonged road trip; eventually, the landscape blurs into nothing. Cartagena deliberately uses this strategy to highlight how the working class is invisible in a society that prioritizes material wealth more and more and is led by officials who keep giving the property away for development without a clear plan for the future. In his closely cropped images, Cartagena challenges us to think about the political and economic systems that distribute wealth, labor, and energy globally.

This Spiraling Treetop Walkway In Denmark Puts Every Other Tree Walkway To Shame

by Rokas L

Architecture studio EFFEKT has designed a walkway to take hikers and Instagrammers to new heights above a forest in Denmark. The idea is to offer bird’s-eye views of the area without disrupting the environment.

The centerpiece of the construction is set to be a winding observation tower, topping out at about 150 feet (45 metres). The hourglass-like construction should rise in a luscious preserved forest an hour south of Copenhagen, in Glisselfeld Kloster, Haslev. It consists of a 2000 ft. (600m) internal ramp, which will take visitors from the forest floor, through the treetops culminating with a 360° view of the hilly landscape, characteristic for the region.

The structures that make up the route towards the tower have been split into two sections: the high walkway will extend past some of the forest’s oldest trees, while the lower path will swirl its way through the younger areas.

The one-of-a-kind project is expected to be finished in 2018.

Designer Stuns Everyone In The World By Building A Secret Studio Beneath A Busy Bridge In Valencia

by Rokas L

Plumber-turned-furniture designer Fernando Abellanas has built himself a studio that acrophobes wouldn’t want to visit. Abellanas has constructed his workplace under a bridge in Valencia, Spain, and it perfectly blends into the urban setting.

This under-bridge setup has a chair, a desk, and two shelves, providing all the storage space one could ask for in a regular office. To access the micro dwelling, the designer uses a hand crank that transports the base to the furniture, bolted to the bridge’s concrete wall.

Abellanas is keeping the exact location of the studio a secret. “The project is an ephemeral intervention,” he told the Spaces, via Curbed. “[It will remain] until someone finds it and decides to steal the materials, or the authorities remove it.”

It Took Us 1984 Hours To Create This Miniature Town For Hamsters

by Sophia Antidze

Let me present to you our hungry, hungry hamsters.

Little lovely animals – living in a teeny town with handmade teensy details and eating tiny food there. The idea was to use this small town – named Yumville – for the big cause of advertising one of the leading food product companies, with making their products seem lovely for families as these hamsters do.

So, we created the whole town with 1325 tiny details during 1984 working hours. Housed the family of real hamsters there and made 9 episodes of online series about the lovely family obsessed with delicious food. I hope their adorable charm won’t leave anybody’s heart untouched.

Parents Can’t Believe Their Eyes After Seeing What Their 2-Year-Old Twins Do At Night

by James Gould-Bourn

Few moments are more satisfying for parents than the moment you successfully put your children to bed. Only then can you put your feet up, safe in the knowledge that your kids are sound asleep in their cribs…right? Well, not quite. Check out this hilarious video to see what we mean.

The footage was recorded in the New York bedroom of 2-year-old twins Andrew and Ryan Balkin, who decided to have an after-hours party once their parents had put them to bed. They masterfully managed to escape their cribs before spending the night jumping on pillows and having what appears to be philosophical late-night chats on the sofa. “When the parents are away, the cubs will play,” wrote their father Jonathan Balkin, who recently uploaded the funny clip to Facebook.
