Your Cashmerette makes! Holiday Roundup
If there’s one thing that brings a smile to my face, it’s seeing women around the world wearing their Cashmerette Patterns garments – and it’s been doubly fun seeing all your creative and beautiful makes for the holidays!

Let’s kick it off with three gorgeous Upton dresses: Tanya in lovely sateen, Pearl used a border print to absolutely wonderful effect, and Sumiko used metallic Cotton+Steel cotton to make a fabulous maxi version.

Next up, the Turner Dresses. Andie whipped hers up in an hour (!!!!) for Xmas lunch, adapting it by using a scoop neckline and neckband (want to alter your Turner neckline? Here’s a tutorial). Laura used a stretch burgundy velvet to make a super festive dress, and Kenna hacked hers to make a cross-over bodice.

Hannah made not one, not two, but three Cashmerette dresses for the holidays! Here’s her burgundy Turner Dress. Laura made a beautiful purple Upton dress, which goes fantastically with her cardi. And Margo made this novelty Christmas Harrison Shirt to entertain her grandkids – and reports back that it did!
Here’s another one of Hannah’s lovely makes – it’s an Appleton Dress, and it’s actually her first ever hand-made dress, if you can believe it! Mary Alice wore her maxified Appleton and is looking gorgeous as always. And Katie made a really creative Concord T-shirt hack for a totally different look – so clever!

And finally, I wore Cashmerette too. My black polka dot Turner Dress, which is probably my favourite thing I made all year. We still also have a handful of kits left, if you’re interested in making your own.
Happy holidays from Cashmerette Towers! Did you wear Cashmerette for the holidays? I’d love to see what you made.

Changing Seasons
The leaves are turning and the mornings are getting crisper – ah, Fall is in the air! For those of us that live in the Northwest, that means more rainy days which for me translates to more time to get creative in my studio. It’s the perfect time to grab a nice warm cup of coffee and try some new techniques. And of course it’s time to start thinking about making some gifts for the upcoming Holidays!
For those of you who might be planning ahead, I’d like to share with you my latest video tutorial that I recently posted to create The Funky Fiber Book. This is a simple to create book that features an amazingly easy way to conquer bookbinding to create any sized book that can be used as a journal, art book, photo albums and more. And feel free to download the PDF instructions to keep on hand while creating your own Funky Fiber Book.
And if you’ve ever wanted to learn a couple of basic beading stitches, I’ve also created two new beading tutorials for you to view (with instruction sheets as well) – Even Count Peyote Stitch and Right Angle Weave. Both of these stitches can be used for a variety of beading projects to create necklaces, bracelets and more.

If you live in the Southern California area, I’ll be teaching some Holiday themed classes that feature the new lines of paper from Authentique using some of your favorite mixed media products from Imagine (featuring Tsukineko), Prima and Finnabair.
At Perfect Day Scrapbooking, you’ll see how to put all of your holiday keepsakes into the Holiday Dossier Album. Using Authentique Papers, you will cover this blank album with papers from their Retro Christmas collection. Then we will begin creating a mixed media masterpiece using Finnabair’s line of products to add texture, along with some color with Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko inks. You’ll have the chance to create two wonderful diorama scenes for your album, one for the front cover and another on the inside of the book.

At Scrapbooking Forever, I’ll be featuring two classes to get your creativity started with a Holiday theme. Combine your love of bookmaking with your mixed media skills to create a Holiday themed keepsake box for holding your photos and other memories of the Holidays. Learn how to create a modified version of the star book to create the pages of your album. Then we’ll take our mixed media techniques to create the beautiful box that will hold your memories.

Transform your mixed media techniques into these amazing holiday decorations, perfect for hanging on the tree, table decor, or the perfect gift! In class you’ll learn how easy it is to transform a box into a miniature diorama that everyone will want to look at. Choose from a traditional Christmas theme or a snowy Winter Wonderland.
And if you can’t make it to class at one of these two locations in Southern California, don’t fret – I’m in the process of creating online versions of these classes so you can make these fabulous projects in the comfort of your own home!
