So...

Chris.d.woo

Gross, right? Also: Jared Leto (44) is playing the Joker. Margot Robbie (25) is playing Harley Quinn. That's ridiculous and quite a bit skeezy. It's bad enough there's only like four women with named parts in the cast.

How gross is it that the average age of the female cast members of the Suicide Squad movie is 30.5 (including 50-yr old Viola Davis dramatically bringing up the average; without her the average female age is 24) compared to 41.22 for the male cast members?

Cuz I think that’s super gross.

Just look at how good that landing is!

Chris.d.woo

Isn't this great? SpaceX's Falcon 9 is a pretty amazing thing. Also, if you look at (I think) the last water landing SpaceX did that would have landed perfectly too had the landing legs locked. So they're obviously getting very good at this.

Also if you watch the hosted broadcast there's like a full five minutes where the SpaceX team is partying so loud you couldn't hear the hosts. Amazing.

Just look at how good that landing is!

Is it weird that I like sigmoid functions?

Chris.d.woo

Is it weird that I have favorite math functions? Cuz I do. Sigmoids are like my favorite class of functions. Also...graphing calculator apps for OS X all kind of suck.

They’re just so useful!

Olivia Wilde was deemed “too old” for Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf Of Wall Street

Chris.d.woo

I don't know why but I'm going to keep posting things about ageism in Hollywood every time I get.

Also: Leonardo DiCaprio has a weird penchant for dating 20ish year old models for five minutes. I liken it to being a 25-yr old townie that hits on high school sophomores who thinks that they'll dig him because he can score brewskis.

Olivia Wilde was deemed “too old” for Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf Of Wall Street:

This is tangentially related to my post about the average of male and female cast members in Suicide Squad as Margot Robbie (currently 25) ended up in the role. And it should also be noted that Jordan Belfort and Nadine Caridi (the real-life person they based the character on) are or close to the same age in real life.  It’s just such a strange trope in Hollywood.

Took a whopper and put some pineapple cottage cheese in it....

Chris.d.woo

It wasn't bad! Honest!

Also: did you know Burger King sells hot dogs and chili dogs now? I did not know that.

Took a whopper and put some pineapple cottage cheese in it. Based on an idea @amazing-arachnid had a few months ago. It was good but a little on the messy side.

Chris.d.woo

Seriously, this is the best thing Marco Rubio's ever done. I'm not sure where this guy was this whole campaign cycle, but if he'd been like this I think he'd have done a lot better. I still wouldn't vote for the guy, but there's at least a universe where I'd at least consider it.

With Marco Rubio out of the presidential race here’s the man’s best moment from the entire campaign. I feel like if this guy had been around a month or two ago he’d have done two to three times as well.

“So I mentioned that warlock and zealot (which were arcane and divine vigilantes for those of you not part of the playtest) are now archetypes. All told, the vigilante has 10 pages of archetypes, the most that any class has ever received in a book. After all, he has plenty of catch-up in order to match his older cousins that have been around for more books… .The magical child archetype covers the “magical girl” trope, with a transformation sequence ability (faster switch between identities, but with flashy lights and music), summoner spells, and an otherworldly buddy.

(emphasis mine)

*SLAMS HANDS ON DESK* THIS IS IMPORTANT GAME DESIGN CONTENT.

We do aim to please. :-)

Who else is now imagining a team of seven Thassilonian-themed magical children?

Might we suggest this particular adventure, once they’re sufficiently high enough level for the magical school antics?

Every year the Acadamae—Korvosa’s prestigious school of the arcane arts—opens its gates to the city to host the Breaching Festival, where the most skilled infiltrators are invited to enter the magically guarded Hall of Wards or die trying. Testing their luck against the university’s strongest defenses, the competitors pull out all the stops as they vie for a chance at a fortune in gold and magical treasure. This year, the school’s headmaster has invited the heroes to participate, against the contest’s longstanding traditions. While the Breaching Festival has not seen a champion in over a century and a half, this year’s festival promises to be the deadliest trial the school has ever known. Should the heroes reign victorious, the secrets they may uncover promise more than gold and glory—they may rock the very foundation of the Acadamae, and even the entire city!

Well that’s the fucking bee’s knees right there.

Chris.d.woo

The Verge's nonsense headline notwithstanding (the style guide nor Pablo Hidalgo's tweet really support their contention), did you guys ever see the old West End Games SW RPG stuff? I know we played the d20 version, but the WEG SW RPG probably had more sourcebooks.

This is probably a weird thought but...

Chris.d.woo

So I've gotten very interesting responses from this. Seems to be white boys in that era did listen to Linkin Park. But to contrast that I remember east asian boys AND girls seemed to listen to them in overwhelming numbers. Like I want to say at like 70-80% rates.

…did white people (and other non-Asians, I suppose) listen to Linkin Park 12-15 years ago? Because I remember it was a BIG DEAL with East Asian Americans in high school because of Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn. But I don’t remember a single white person listening to it.

What happens when you scream out of your window in Sweden at night

I’m swedish and you probably think this is a joke, but its true

This mostly happens in areas where a lot of students live.

The scream usually happens in the evening from what I know but I might be wrong. People do this to relieve stress since a lot of people have tests and assignments at the same time, it is a tradition that dates back to at least the 1970’s.

Swedes are the biggest fucking circlejerkers in the world I swear to god if you do something wacky everyone will tag along and it’s great

HTC shares crash, "brand, factories and buildings were worthless" | ZDNet

Chris.d.woo

HTC's market value (Based on share value and outstanding shares) is less than the cash they have on hand — and not because it's a hugely leveraged company (by the last count I have it's got $84.5B in liabilities and $163.8B in assets). It's because the company is just that bad. It's said that they might not make a profit until 2017. They had something like a 20% drop in revenue. I have a feeling someone's going to come in and sell it for parts.
