The golden lasso of Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston, the inventor of the polygraph test. Originally intended to compel the captured, it became a tool for extracting confessions, those captured by its unbreakable loops.
But in today’s Justice League #47, it gets a new origin. Not as a weapon of war but something else entirely.
A tool of therapy. One that might stop one lying to oneself and face uncomfortable truths that you are otherwise unable to admit to.
And when facing a manic out of control powered up Superman, to get to the central truth of the character. That Clark Kent isn’t his secret identity….
…its just his identity. Oh and for those following the relationship of Superman, some rather unfortunate lasso-delivered news…
More on that later…
The Origin Of Wonder Woman’s Lasso Retconned In Today’s Justice League
After a one-season absence, Bran Stark, as played by Isaac Hempstead-Wright, returns to Games of Thrones. But it seems he spent that missing time learning from the Three-Eyed Raven as the actor tells Entertainment Weekly the character will have greater control of his abilities. “We’re given looks into very important events in the past, present and future of this world,” he explained. “Bran is beginning to piece them together like a detective, almost as if he’s watching the show.”
In the novel series, Bran’s abilities are only beginning to mature, but he managed to see various parts of the Starks’ history and, in a later scene, it’s implied that he imparts a message to Reek via the werewood trees at Winterfell.
Hempstead-Wright’s comments also suggest Bran might witness the rumored flashback to the last days of Robert’s rebellion and its long talked about revelation about a certain character’s parentage.
Game of Thrones returns in April.
Over the weekend, we got a bit of information from the book The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Said news focused on the fact that Anakin Skywalker was supposed to make an appearance in the new film.

Now, because whiney Kylo Ren made a statement hinting at the fact that he had perhaps communicated with Vader before would kind of make that cameo okay. However, I’m so glad it didn’t happen. Here’s the thing about Vader. He was an amazing villain. But as we all know he had a change of heart before his death. Ren is worshiping something that died with Vader, no? A cameo from him would have infuriated a ton of people, including myself. The melted deformed mask was enough.
Hello Anakin? Is That You?…A Vader Appearance That Almost Happened
During an appearance on Charlie Rose, Star Wars creator George Lucas stepped away from his genial persona to discuss the dark side of his film series’ success. Mainly, he criticizes the way Hollywood looked at the original film and copied its space setting or effects technology without noticing the story both elements supported. While the argument is not new, it’s interesting to see Lucas himself stating it with a rare passion.

Granted, some would say Lucas made similar mistakes on the Prequel Trilogy.
Meanwhile, original film star Mark Hamill helped fans identified signed merchandise with bogus signatures over Twitter last night. “I’m so sorry there’s so many fans spending their hard-earned money for fraudulent signatures,” he wrote in one post. Pointing out his authentic signature, he suggested fans look to it when trying to verify an item.
Lastly, various sites, including Screencrush are pointing to a page in the recently release Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in which concept artist Iain McCaig discusses an early idea for Anakin Skywalker to appear as a Force ghost caught between the light and the dark. The page also features a design for the ghost that hints at what could have been.
The notion that Anakin would still be fighting the dark side, even into death, is genuinely interesting. Of course, a lot of discarded Star Wars design concepts find their way into other projects and subsequent films. Perhaps a conflicted Force ghost may yet find a home on screen.

As Entertainment Weekly continues to reveal info from its upcoming cover story on Marvel‘s Doctor Strange, they confirm that actor Mads Mikkelsen will play the chief antagonist in the film.
Of course, the name of that villain is still a mystery.
When Mikkelsen was first rumored to appear in the film, many suggested he may end up playing Dormammu. But executive producer Stephen Broussard told EW that “no one has quite picked the name that we’ve chosen for him. It would be fun to conceal that, if we can.” The character is described as a sorcerer who broke off into his own sect, believing some of the mystical horrors held at bay by the Ancient One should be released on to the world.
Does that description ring any bells?
The new issue of EW, featuring the Doctor Strange cover story arrives on newsstands on Friday.
Unearth by comicbook.com, concept artist Gregory Semkow tried his hand at a possibly lineup for the in-development X-Force film. Semkow happens to be a friend of writer Jeff Wadlow, who in turn happens to be writing the X-Force script with an eye to direct. The artwork is said to be a collaboration with Wadlow featuring “the characters from the script.”
The obvious choices of Cable, Domino and Warpath are on display, but who’s the other woman standing next to Cable? Comicbook.com suggests Rogue, but notes the fingerless gloves would not be her style.
Of course, as the project is still in script stage with no release date or firm commitments, it’s entirely possible these character choices could change. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see the recognizable team members redesign with the understanding that actors will eventually inhabit costumes and make-up effects. Still, Cable is a bit odd without a more sever widow’s peak.

DMG Entertainment, Studiocanal and director James Cameron have partnered up to produce a 3D version of 1991’s seminal action/sci-fi classic Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The plan is to release the film sometime in 2016.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron said, “Next year marks the 25th anniversary of Terminator 2 and that seemed like the perfect time to bring it back but this time in an all-new 3D version.”
The film told the tale of Sarah Connor as she and a reprogrammed Terminator protected her son John from a more advanced Terminator model and stopped the impending robot apocalypse. Subsequent films in the series proved the world of the machines was inevitable, but none of the following three Terminator flicks captured the imagination of the public quite like T2. It also introduced groundbreaking computer generated effects. It is unclear if it will do the same for 3D, a now seemingly mature presentation format.
Well, then. I wasn’t expecting that. Final Fantasy VII has turned up at PlayStation Experience Keynote and surprisingly has shown off gameplay. We can stop imagining what Final Fantasy VII looks like in 2015.
This is a top to bottom remake, there is no doubt about that and it really looks gorgeous. Take a look here:

I know many huge fans will be having outer-body experiences right now, so just remember to breathe.
