POTD: Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Hateful Eight’ Assemble for First Behind-the-Scenes Photos
CoreyYes!
Quentin Tarantino‘s next may be called The Hateful Eight, but the eight stars in it aren’t hateful at all. In fact, they’re downright great. And now they’ve all assembled as the Western prepares to begin shooting in Colorado next month. Check out the first Hateful Eight behind the scenes photos after the jump.
Samuel L. Jackson posted the Hateful Eight behind the scenes photos.

The Hateful Eight pics don’t tell us anything about the movie we don’t already know, since the full cast was announced a few weeks back. Still, it’s great to see them all together. Especially when we remember that at the start of this year, it looked like this film might never happen.
Here’s a cast list, if you’re having trouble identifying them:
- Samuel L. Jackson (black hat)
- Bruce Dern (red hat)
- Jennifer Jason Leigh (black jacket)
- Quentin Tarantino (red plaid shirt)
- Demian Bichir (seated in brown jacket)
- Kurt Russell (seated in grey t-shirt)
- Walton Goggins (blue v-neck)
- Michael Madsen (black vest)
- Tim Roth (seated in black shirt)
Channing Tatum also stars, but isn’t in these photos. Character descriptions can be found in the synopsis below. The Hateful Eight does not yet have a release date, but it’s expected out sometime around fall 2015.
In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

‘Project Almanac’ Trailer and Poster: Found Footage Time Travel Movie Finally Hits in January
CoreyReally into this.

We’ve been talking about Dean Israelite‘s Project Almanac for what seems like forever. Jumping back in time, the idea first got picked up by Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes in 2012. Cameras then started rolling Summer 2013 aimed at a February 2014 release date. In that time, the title changed to Welcome to Yesterday. However the distributor, Paramount, decided to hold the film back once that date got close. It was retitled Project Almanac and it had a pretty successful, buzzy screening at Comic-Con.
Which brings us to the present. A second first trailer for Project Almanac has been released with the film set to hit theaters January 30. In it you’ll see what a group of teenagers might do if they found out how to time travel in their garage. Watch the Project Almanac Trailer below.
Here’s the Project Almanac trailer via MTV.
Project Almanac trailer
And here’s the new poster. Love this tagline:
Russ saw the finished film at Comic-Con this year and enjoyed it for what it was. I heard some people even loved it. We should get more final verdicts soon as Paramount will almost certainly position this for plenty of word of mouth screenings on college campuses and things like that. It’s an MTV Films production, so that fits right in their demo.
On it’s own, it’s a very effective trailer. Definitely reminiscent of the one cut for the film almost a year ago, but this time with more action and consequences. As a time travel fan, I’m very curious what the script by Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman does that distinguishes this film from others like it and how it’s changed over the past few years.
Here’s the official description of Project Almanac, which stars Jonny Weston, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Sam Lerner, Allen Evangelista and Ginny Gardner:
A brilliant high school student and his friends uncover blueprints for a mysterious device with limitless potential, inadvertently putting lives in danger.

Hear Bryan Cranston Narrate ‘You Have To F*cking Eat’ From The Writers Of ‘Go The F*ck To Sleep’
Bryan Cranston is done playing the bad guys. Now he’s playing a surrogate parent to your child, reminding your child that f*ck, man, eat your food. The book and audiobook from author Adam Mansbach, is now being read aloud by Bryan Cranston, after the initial installment was written by none other than the king of f*ck, Sam Jackson. So, your child can listen to Cranston’s soothing voice while being reminded You Have to Fucking Eat.
Of course, this guy is really writing books for angry, embittered parents who resent their kids for not behaving like adults. But embittered adults (that is to say, all adults) LOVE Bryan Cranston, who played a pretty embittered adult in a TV show once.
So if you don’t eat your food, Heisenberg is coming for you. And he’s the danger.
Maybe we can get Michael Shannon to read, Wipe Your Own Ass, Child next.

8 Crazy Things Michael Bay Said While Filming ‘Pain & Gain’, According to Rob Corddry
CoreyWhat a douche.
I love Michael Bay. I unironicly think he is a great artist. And from everything I’ve read, heard and even personally seen, I think he’s a hilarious person. He’s almost like an exagerated cartoon character version of what you might expect. Sometimes I think he plays into the persona, that his behavior can be an act.
For instance, when I was on the set of Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bay filmed a huge explosive action sequence as uninvited onlookers watched from nearby buildings and parking garages. They applauded after the take and Bay addressed the crowd with his megaphone: “You guys think you’re going to wait up there and be in my movie? You’re gonna get digitally erased!” Was he joking?
Actor Rob Corddry has spent way more time with the filmmaker than I have at various junkets and set visits, and decided to compile a list of funny and crazy Michael Bay quotes during the filmmaking of Pain & Gain. Read that list and more after the jump.
I’m a big fan of the Howard Stern Show. Recently Sirius XM aired a special called JD’s Directors Special which followed Stern Show staffer JD Harmeyer as he interviewed filmmakers during this past year’s Comic Con. While JD is often ridiculed as being a mumble-mouthed on the air, these interviews were pretty great. The guests were more laid back than you normally get in press interviews, maybe partly because they are fans of the Stern Show. And JD, who went to film school, actually knows his stuff. Another reason the interviews on the special are good is because JD is not a professional interviewer and would often ask questions that you probably normally shouldn’t, resulting in some truly great answers.
One segment in particular I wanted to highlight was JD’s interview with Rob Corddry, best known as a comedy actor but was also a creator and director of Children’s Hospital. And more specifically, Corddry’s hilarious recollection of working with Michael Bay on Pain & Gain. Its during this segment that Rob Corddry read from a list of quotes Michael Bay supposedly said on the set of Pain & Gain, as written down by the actor and another crew member.
This is how the Michael Bay discussion began as JD asked if Corddry had any bad or horrible experiences working with a director.
“You know what was really interesting? Working with … Michael Bay.”
As you know, Corddry had a role in Michael Bay’s lower-budget character film Pain & Gain, and spent two months working with the filmmaker on it. Corddry gives a bit of flavor of what its like working with the filmmaker:
“So he’s notorious for being difficult, weird crazy. The movies he directs are those kind of movies. He’s intense — I would not want to be on his crew. But I think I have a lot of respect for him because he really demands everyone work at the level he’s working. And he really knows his shit, he’s very good at it. And he’s probably got ADD or something , because he just doesn’t stop.”
Again, I’ve seen this in person. Joke all you want about Michael Bay but what he accomplishes on the budget he makes films on is incredible. I’ve never seen an entire film crew on their tippy toes like they were on Age of Extinction. There was no one sitting or leaning or looking at their phones. If something needed to get done, it was like an army of ants just ran out from the sidelines and made it happen. There was no resting in between set-ups, as a second unit crew (also directed by Bay) is almost ready for the next sequence while the first unit preps for the sequence after that. Say what you will about his movies but if you saw him in action, you’d be impressed. That said, he is a taskmaster who runs around set sometimes screaming orders and other times even operating camera during a take to achieve his vision.
“And Pain & Gain was an indie film, it was his indie film — it was $30 million or something like that, and that was his indie film. … He told me, ‘I’ll never do it again.’ But he owns like a thousand cameras — they are his own, he doesn’t have to rent them. Thats a couple million right there. A couple million dollars worth of cameras rolling all the time — scenes with six cameras rolling.”
And then Rob Corddry admitted that he wrote down a list of funny and crazy things Michael Bay said while filming the movie.
“I have a list that I collected and then somebody else in wardrobe would write to me after I left. And he literally said these things. Sometimes he’s kind of joking and most of the time he’s not.”
So here is…
Rob Corddry’s List Of Michael Bay Quotes, Supposedly Said During Pain & Gain:
- An everyday thing, said to an actor: “God damn fucking cocksucker whats wrong with you?!”
- “Hey watch that light, thats our only Jesus thing-a-ma-jig!”
- “I’ve done more girls than all of you!”
- “Guys, if I have to wait more than a minute between shots its too slow!”
- “Get out of my way, I don’t want to have to yell through you!”
- “Give me something to wipe the air with.”
- “If the cameras not ready, we’ll just fucking shoot without it!”
- Bay said this to an actress playing a stripper: “Are you chewing gum? You can not chew gum! It’s the most unsexy thing you can do when you’re trying to do sexy shit. That’s Michael Bay rule #302!”
Corddry had a much longer list, but those were the eight quotes he chose to read during the interview. The JD Director’s Interview Special is available on demand on the Sirius XM app and website through channel Howard 101.

‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee’ Season 5 Trailer: Starts November 6 With Kevin Hart
CoreyI haven't watched this yet, but it looks pretty cool.

Every day, new shows hit the Internet. YouTube, Vimeo, Netflix, content created for the internet used to be unique, but has now become the norm. It’s gotten to the point where, such is the case with real TV, the only ones that get a lot of attention are the best ones. One that definitely ranks among those is Jerry Seinfeld‘s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The show, which is located on Crackle, is going into its fifth season and the trailer is now online. It features Jimmy Fallon, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr and many others. Check out the Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee season 5 trailer below.
Vulture debuted the trailer. Here it is.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee season 5 trailer
They also got a quote from Seinfeld about it:
I’m sure I’m not supposed to say this, but my favorite part of making these shows is really the promo that kicks off each season. It’s two months of work for a killer 90 seconds. That’s my kind of thing. I’m honestly fine if you hate our show, but you will love this clip package.
The fifth season premieres on Crackle.com at noon EST on November 6. It starts with Kevin Hart and continues with Fred Armisen, Colleen Ballinger, Bill Burr, Jimmy Fallon, Amy Schumer and Ali Wentworth.
If you haven’t seen this show before, you really do have to check it out. I don’t watch it religiously, but Seinfeld himself is an interesting character – he’s actually himself here, not playing himself – and seeing his interactions are fascinating. Howard Stern rarely gets interviewed himself, but he was on the show. Louis CK was an amazing episode. Patton Oswalt got picked up, and broke down, in a Back to the Future Delorean. It’s really, really cool.
Have you watched the show? What are some of your favorite episodes? How long do you think Seinfeld will go along doing this? And the big question, has anyone ever seen Seinfeld drive by while filming? For me that seems like it would be the craziest experience.

‘Hardcore’ Teaser: POV Director Ilya Naishuller Makes His First Feature
CoreyThis is pretty spectacular.

Even if you don’t know the name Ilya Naishuller, you probably remember his work — the Russian musician/filmmaker made two high-energy POV videos for his band Biting Elbows, the second of which hit the internet like an action explosion. The first, dubbed ‘Office Escape,’ has been seen over five million times on YouTube alone; the follow-up has tens of millions of views. Now Naishuller is working on a feature, called Hardcore. It follows the same POV setup, and you can see the first Hardcore POV teaser below.
In this action clip you’ll see a bit of Sharlto Copley, who plays a starring role, but you’ll also realize that the real stars are the stuntmen who do all the film’s most intense work. The footage has a first-person wargame appearance for obvious reasons, but the work of the stuntmen is clearly seen; this one could be a must-watch for anyone who likes to see stunt teams unleashed.
Naishuller is seeking completion funding on IndieGogo, and even has some interesting rewards, such as the actual GoPro cameras used in the making of the films. GoPro cameras are fairly affordable, but I can’t say I remember ever seeing another film give away its own cameras to supporters.
Here’s the fundraising video, with a lot more footage and plenty of talk about making the film.

‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2′ Trailer: The Sequel America Demanded
Coreyno. No. NO. NO! NO!!!!!
The first one may be one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life. Seriously. I smoked a bunch before it, and it was still unwatchable.

Kevin James‘ 2009 comedy Paul Blart: Mall Cop was never supposed to be a hit. The film opened in the dregs of the movie schedule, January, had no real stars outside of James and sported one of the most joke worthy titles in recent memory. What was the result? Almost $150 million in domestic box office. And in a era where international grosses mean everything, Paul Blart only did $37 million overseas.
Yes, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is a movie America demanded with their hard earned dollars. It’s scheduled for release April 17, 2015 and the first trailer is now out. Below, watch the Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 trailer.
Thanks to JoBlo, here’s the first Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 trailer:
Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 Trailer
As you can tell from the trailer, this time James’ character heads to Las Vegas for a Security Guard Expo with his daughter. At the same time, some master criminals decide to pull an Ocean’s Eleven and robs all the casinos up and down the strip. I bet you can’t guess who is going to be forced to take them down.
I look at a movie like Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 very simply. It’s not for me, much like a movie like Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice is not for everyone. Many people would watch that movie and hate it. Be bored by it, not laugh, not understand what the filmmaker is going for. But I love it. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is like that for me. Sometimes you just have to remember that everyone’s different and everyone gets movies made for them. There’s little doubt Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is going to be a big hit, just maybe not with someone who didn’t see the first one.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is directed by Andy Fickman. It co-stars Molly Shannon, Neal McDonough, Daniella Alonso, David Henrie and Raini Rodriguez.

Dumb, Dumber, Brilliant: The Films of the Farrelly Brothers Ranked
CoreyFantastic List.
These guys have really put together a great body of work.

Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly, better known as The Farrelly Brothers, are responsible for some of the biggest and most quotable comedies of the past twenty years. This week, they’re making their first sequel, which also brings them back to the film that made them famous: Dumb and Dumber. Dumb and Dumber To reunites Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as idiots Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, and in so doing almost brings twenty years of comedy full circle.
To celebrate the release of Dumb and Dumber To, we’re ranked all 12 directorial efforts of the Farrelly Brothers. Theirs is a career that started with a bang and has since slowed down a bit. Still, their work is an impressive collection of films with unique and innovative plots.
Below, read our ranking of the films of the Farrelly Brothers.
The Farrelly Brothers Films Ranked

12. The Heartbreak Kid (2007)
A decade after Ben Stiller and the Farrellys made magic together in There’s Something About Mary, the star and directors reteamed for this remake. A newlywed goes on his honeymoon only to realize he’s made a terrible mistake with the marriage; soon he starts to fall for another woman. All of the actors here, including Malin Ackerman, Michelle Monaghan, and Danny McBride, are certainly talented and dedicated, but the film has a mean, almost painful tone throughout. No one is likeable and while there may be a laugh or two, it’s never enjoyable to watch. Everything feels off.

11. The Three Stooges (2012)
Any time filmmakers touch a beloved property like The Three Stooges, they open themselves up for problems. With this film, the Farrellys did their best with something that heavily influenced their comedy, and of which they have been lifelong fans. The central trio of Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso admirably tried to play Moe, Larry and Curly. For the most part, the film never felt as timeless and light as the original shorts. The film is a poor, forgettable copy.

10. Osmosis Jones (2001)
The Farrellys are half responsible for this animated/live action hybrid about a man (Bill Murray) whose insides are fighting a deadly virus. It’s not a terrible movie, but the Farrellys’ live action sections feel somehow disjointed from the superior animated sections. That disconnect between the main story inside his body, directed by Tom Sito and Piet Kroon, and the live action outside, make for a passable, barely entertaining experience.

9. Hall Pass (2011)
Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis are two married men whose wives give them the ability to do whatever, or whomever they want for a full week. From that one sentence you can already tell exactly what’s going to happen in this movie. Unfortunately, the Farrellys don’t do much to surprise the audience beyond concept. There are beautiful women to tempt the guys, nice men to tempt the women, and everyone feels conflicted about the situation. In the end, everyone is happy in their own special way. One or two laughs stand out but, for the most part, it’s 90 minutes you’ll never think about again.

Cool Stuff: Mondo’s Back to the Future Poster By Matt Taylor
We’ve covered a ton of Back to the Future illustrated poster prints over the years, but this one is definitely one of my favorites. Matt Taylor, an artist we’ve covered quite a few times in the past, has teamed up with Mondo to deliver a colorful Back to the Future poster print. The 18? x 24? sized print will be released at Thought Bubble in the UK in an edition of only 225. Hit the jump to see the full Back to the Future Matt Taylor poster now.
Back to the Future Matt Taylor Poster
Here is more about the Back to the Future Matt Taylor poster from the artist:
“BTTF is basically my dream project and as such is utterly terrifying, because it is embedded in the public consciousness and has it’s own library of iconography that even people who haven’t seen the film will know. On top of that, the previous BTTF series at Mondo are amongst the highlights of their output – so a little bit of extra pressure to live up to there. For my design, I went back to Struzan’s original concept posters – there is a great one with Marty vanishing from the feet up, and as soon as I saw it I knew that I wanted to use it as my starting point. I think PCC and Laurent have closed the book on using the Delorean so I deliberately stayed away from that and focused instead on Marty and his instantly recognisable features. I used the title block from the original poster and stripped out the rest of the type so that the image stood alone on the page. I’m really happy with how it turned out and I hope that the Mondo faithful dig it as well.”
Mondo will be at Table #15 inside the TB TeePee in Leeds, opening November 15th, 2014 located between New Dock Hall and Royal Armouries Hall, and like most Mondo prints, Mondo will announce the on sale through Twitter.

Cool Stuff: Movie Posters For Sequels That Never Happened, Now On Sale
CoreyLove these.

UPDATE: The entire show is now online and on sale. Click here. Original article follows.
The sequel is the ultimate catch 22. If you think too hard about setting one up, you won’t concentrate enough on the first film and it won’t warrant it. On the flip side, if you focus all your energy on a single, great film, a sequel will be in demand you may leave yourself without a place to take it.
These days, way more films fall into column A than column B and it’s a major problem in Hollywood. What about the good old days? The days when a studio would release an awesome movie, fans would love it, and that would be it? No sequel needed. Well, iam8bit in Los Angeles is harkening back to those days, but with a twist, for their next art exhibit: Sequel. Around 50 pieces of art are featured in the show, all for sequels that never happened. Follow ups to movies we know and love – Spaceballs, The Rocketeer, Labyrinth, Fight Club, Blade Runner etc. – made just for fun.
Sequel opens in Los Angeles on November 13 and, below, we’ve got a bunch of posters from the show including exclusive sequels to Hobo With A Shotgun, Videodrone and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Sequel will be open starting 7-11 p.m. November 13 at iam8bit, 2147 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, California. It remains on display through November 23. Learn more on Facebook and all the art will be on sale November 14 at store.iam8bit.com.
Here are some of the posters from Sequel. Remember, there are almost 50 total so this is just a sampling. Also the first three can only be seen here on /Film.
Here’s the full list of artists in the show:

Video: Check out the 'Duck Hunt' inspired Mark Hunt promo for UFC 180
Filed under: News, UFC, Videos
Check out the unique “Duck Hunt” inspired promo for headliner Mark Hunt and Saturday’s UFC 180 event in Mexico.
Hunt enters the classic video game for the promo, which recounts the fan favorite’s string of recent wins that set up the opportunity of a lifetime in Saturday’s UFC 180 pay-per-view headliner at Mexico City Arena.
Hunt (10-8-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC), who’s ranked No. 4 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA heavyweight rankings, meets No. 3 Fabricio Werdum (18-5-1 MMA, 6-2 UFC) for the organization’s interim heavyweight title. The winner will likely meet injured champ and No. 1-ranked Cain Velasquez in 2015.
The promo comes from the YouTube account “MrUFCTrailers,” which has produced some classic promos. Check out the current one above, or check out some previous ones below.
