Sometimes I forget how much I love Kate Winslet. Like I really, really, really, really love her. Still, again, sometimes she slips my mind. Perhaps it’s because she has been in a series of smaller movies (well, besides the “Divergent” franchise) which I haven’t seen in the last few years. And perhaps it is because despite being an enormous movie star she tends to keep out of the public eye. Whatever the reason, every time we do get a rare glimpse of her letting her true personality come out I fall in love all over again. She’s just such a cheeky delight.
So this weekend my advice to you is to give yourself a treat and watch her episode of “Running Wild With Bear Grylls.” IN his new series the noted British adventurer, survivalist and drinker of water off elephant poo takes celebrities on an intense two-day trek through the wilderness. Kate’s episode aired week and I cannot recommend it highly enough as a guaranteed mood lifter. It is available at NBC.com or Hulu and probably innumerable other places of slightly more dubious legality. But however you find it do yourself a favor and enjoy. I can’t give away my favorite bits, lest it spoils the joy of discovering them yourself. But the above clip has already widely circulated. And it is just a small taste of what you can expect. Happy weekend, all.
p.s. In case you’re now hooked on the series, Bear will run wild with Michelle Rodriguez in two weeks. Hello.

12 Smart Ways to Use Wire Shelves in Your Kitchen — Decorating Inspiration
Wire shelves — frequently a staple of garage or basement organizing projects — might not be the first thing you think of adding to your kitchen, but they are incredibly useful.
Not only can they hold a lot of weight (your stand mixer can find a home there, no problem), but they add a bit of an industrial look that can really complement your stainless steel appliances. Here are 12 beautiful kitchens and pantries that put the organizing staple to good use.
5 Snacks to Buy from the Bulk Bins — Tips from The Kitchn
My first encounter with bulk bins as a kid was in our neighborhood chain grocery store, and all I remember is candy. The bins reminded me of the serve-yourself candy shops and movie theater concession stands, and I longingly passed by the bins wishing I could reach in there and snatch a snack. My parents were wiser, though, and steered us clear of the tempting towers of sweets.
But bulk bins have evolved to carry grains, legumes, spices, oils, sweeteners, and so many ingredients we need for everyday cooking that they're now one of my favorite sections of the grocery store. And while I load up on pantry staples there, they also hold great deals on snacks! Here are some of my favorites.

China’s Bizarre School Rules Under Fire
No “very close relationships” between students of the same sex? A 50cm minimum distance between students of opposite sexes? Mimi Lau at South China Morning Post gives a snapshot of some bizarre school rules in China:
Recent guidelines at Chunhui High School in Wenzhou drew national attention for their warnings against close interaction between classmates of both the opposite sex and the same sex, calling them “severe disciplinary violations”.
[...] A Hangzhou secondary school has banned boys and girls from appearing on campus as a pair, and they must maintain a distance from each other of at least 50cm.
[...] Professor Chu Zhaohui, a researcher at the National Institute of Education Sciences, said most of today’s school administrators lacked insight into what was appropriate for today’s schools because the schools of their days were in the grips of the Cultural Revolution, which ended in 1976.
“Most schools then were in a messy state,” Chu said. [Source]
