Hieronymus Bosch action figures are the greatest thing from any dimension

by Annalee Newitz

If you love action figures and medieval insanity (and who doesn't?), you need to make room in your display cabinets for these incredible recreations of figures from the paintings of 15th century artist Hieronymus Bosch. A famous late Medieval painter, Bosch's work focused entirely on Christian themes, often depicting heaven and hell in imaginatively lurid detail.

These delightfully demonic figurines are the creation of Parastone, a company in the Netherlands that specializes in 3-D recreations of classic paintings. They sell their wares in museum stores and Amazon. Bosch's work is perfect for them, not only because he hails from the place where they work, but also because his paintings are full of tiny details. Every person and beast in a Bosch canvas is so well-rendered that their diminutive contortions hold up to intense scrutiny. Most of these characters are taken from Bosch's triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights, but there are a few from elsewhere. (There's a great interactive tour of The Garden of Earthly Delights here, complete with helpful commentary on many of the images.)

Anti-vaccine groups step up work as Minnesota measles outbreak rages

After years of being the target of anti-vaccine groups, a vulnerable Somali immigrant community in Minnesota is now fighting a raging measles outbreak. It’s the worst outbreak in the state in nearly 30 years, and this year’s totals now exceed the total number of measles cases reported in the entire country in 2016.

Nevertheless, anti-vaccine groups have stepped up their effort to spread frightening falsehoods and dangerous misinformation about vaccines and measles, the Washington Post reports. In a recent forum, an anti-vaccine advocate handed out fliers that falsely alleged that safe and life-saving vaccines cause permanent brain damage and death.

Health professionals and religious leaders are uniting to fight back, promoting life-saving vaccinations and accurate health information during this holy month of Ramadan. They fear that with the religious festivities and gatherings, the outbreak will continue to boom. Health experts already estimate that 8,250 people have been exposed in daycares, hospitals, and schools.

Some fine TableDerp.
Some damn fine TableDerp.

Hey look, Legendary decided to release Season 4 of Tabletop tomorrow … sort of.

The first two episodes of the season will be on YouTube as usual, then Legendary’s moving the show to their Alpha subscription service.

The show will continue to stream on Alpha, and then, on January 30, 2017, the Alpha exclusivity window will end, and show will pick back up on YouTube with episode 3. So if you choose not to sign up for Legendary’s streaming subscription service, that’s when you’ll be able to find our show where it’s always been.

At the moment, I can’t really share my personal feelings on this whole thing, but I’m pretty sure that I can say this: however and whenever and wherever you choose to watch our show, I hope you enjoy it. It’s a good season, and I’m really proud of it.

Here’s the trailer for S04:

#7814: What is the most...

What is the most high-level language? Alternatively, what is the highest level a programming language can reach? The highest level programming language has exactly one instruction, the !, pronounced “do what I mean.” Bug report: "Program did what I meant, but not what I wanted." Developer notes: "Cannot reproduce. I wanted exactly what I meant." Resolution: "User error. Replace user and try again."
