This is a newly discovered species of slug found on Mount Kaputar in New South Wales, Australia. I thought it looked like a melted AirHead. Or a unicorn turd. Unfortunately, scientists weren't brave enough to poke it with a stick to see if rainbows and happiness shot out so there's no guarantee it's actually a slug. "It has tentacles." Oh, like you've never seen a unicorn dropping with tentacles before? "I've never seen a unicorn dropping PERIOD." It's like you don't even care if you win this argument. Thanks to ChaosLex, who would have licked that thing no questions asked.

New Super Luigi U, the large-scale downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros U that has now been announced as a standalone product to boot, runs the risk of all Luigi-related properties: being overshadowed by its brother. Nintendo of Japan has apparently recognized this, and produced a trailer that shows off a few of the differences between Luigi's adventure and last year's Mario title.

The trailer (via Siliconera) shows that the clock has been reduced to 100 seconds, to encourage quick run-throughs of stages instead of the more slow and deliberate pacing allowed by NSMBU's much longer timer. Luigi also jumps higher, accelerates faster, and slides longer when braking than his more famous brother. The trailer also shows off some of Nabbit, the invulnerable co-op character intended for less experienced players.

It's mesmerizing to watch AweMeChannel do 3D chalk art of Duck Hunt at high speed. Not only that, but they also animate the chalk art at the end to make it look like the Duck Hunt is "playable." Very awesome.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reportedly put together his own all-girl pop band.

The group, which consists of five girls who wear an array of sparkling outfits, have already cranked out a few tunes. Their songs include “Let’s Study” and “Our Dear Leader.”

The Moranbong Music Band members were selected by the Supreme Leader himself. The group’s creation is North Korea’s attempt to inject some popular culture into a country that generally doesn’t focus on such things.

Kim Jong Un reportedly formed the band back in 2012. They have already performed a handful of times for the North Korean leader, including last year’s New Years event.

The Dear Leader himself is particularly proud of his all-girl group. Their five-part harmonies and 60s-inspired dance choreography is apparently pleasing to Kim Jong Un, who has already sung the band’s praises.

“(He praised) Seon-u Hyang-hui, leader of the band, for her splendid directing. He underscored the need to steadily develop the traditional music and popular music in a balanced manner to suit the thoughts and feelings of Koreans and their aesthetic taste while meeting the need of the times and the people’s desire,” a report from KNCA explained.

The members of the Moranbong Music Band use synthesizers, guitars, and strings to create their sound. The songs have been described as light rock with hints of 80s pop.

In order to spread the word about his group, Kim Jong Un has put together a few promotional sites on social media. Not only does the band have their own DPRK-sanctioned YouTube channel, the girls’ also have a Facebook page dedicated to their music and performances.

Judging from the video below, the group’s vibe is decidedly old-fashioned. However, in a country where pop culture is practically non-existent, the band’s approach probably feels indescribably new to the people of North Korea.

That makes him an ideal director to craft a simple but very effective message about the dangers of texting while driving. The Grizzly Man director contributes to AT&T’s “It Can Wait” ad campaign with this short promo featuring a mother and her son, who was gravely injured by a driver who failed to keep her eyes on the road. The subjects and their story are powerful, and Herzog presents them in an elegant, unforgettable manner.

This month marked a significant milestone for one of the world’s most famed art fairs as China hosted Art Basel Hong Kong for the first time. With over half of the galleries exhibiting at the fair originating from Asia and Asia-Pacific, Art Basel shined a bright international light on hundreds of artists who were relatively unknown outside of their respective regions.

One such artist was Jakatara-based sculptor Ichwan Noor with Mondecor Jakarta who arrived with this giant sculpture of a 1953 Volkswagen Beetle that, combined with polyester and aluminum, has been morphed into a perfect sphere. Apparently this is one in a series of spherical (and cubical!) vehicles by the artist, but he also works in a variety of other subjects including anatomical forms. Analyst Mary Meeker gave a presentation at AllThingsD's D11 conference today on the latest Internet trends.

One thing that stood out: the outstanding growth Samsung has seen in its smartphone business. According to Meeker, Samsung only held 4% of the global smartphone market versus Apple's 16% in 2010.

Fast forward to the end of 2012, and Samsung held 29% of the market versus Apple's 22%.

In short, Samsung's global smartphone market share is growing at a much faster pace than Apple's.

Things that Michael could not be trusted to do at Target: carry a game from the electronics department to the front of the store without stealing it, and provide a reliable price-matching amount from Amazon. It’s totally excellent that they’re willing to price-match Amazon and all, but Michael shared his story because he’s sort of bemused that something as simple as a game got him treated like a criminal.

Today I went to target to purchase a new game on sale as well as a few other household items. After browsing for what I needed, I went to electronics and asked for a game from behind the glass, a helpful employee (rep #1) gets it, then tells me it has to be walked up front. I joked how it’s funny I could carry around other items priced at hundreds of dollars but not a $40 game. We waited around for a few minutes when I asked about purchasing the game. I’m told employees cannot adjust prices back in electronics, it must be done ‘up front’. The issue was the rep was covering the regular electronics employee and cannot leave the department, so we wait several minutes for someone else to ‘walk the game’ up front, because I’m a criminal and all.

My escort (rep #2 ) and I get to customer service, where I let rep #3 know that I want to price match amazon. Of course their iPad doesn’t work, stating it cannot connect online. Rep #3 calls over a supervisor as about five minutes have passed and there is now a line of multiple customers waiting for assistance behind me. I offer my iPhone and show them the amazon price, they still insist on making the iPad work. At that point I commented how it’s amazing I’m automatically some criminal, that I cannot touch a game nor show them the price on a similar idevice, now being ten minutes from originally getting the game back in electronics.

In the end I begrudgingly purchased my items and left, though target as a brand lost a ton of respect from me today.
