SpinnyNuNuHis basic premise is not wrong, just badly articulated. When I was accepted to Santa Clara University (private Jesuit university) in ‘92, I was terribly excited. Until I saw my financial aid package and realized how much debt I would be accumulating in my four years there.
I wanted to spend two years at a junior college to get all of my core requirements done and then transfer to SCU.
Nope. My parents wouldn’t allow it. I was going to SCU and that was that.
Three years ago, when they were trying to talk my nephew into community college instead of Stan State, I called them out on their hypocrisy. My mom’s response was, “Well, I was really into telling people that my daughter was going to Santa Clara.”
