On Earth Day Weekend, Hoboken Pilots Temporary Connection in Waterfront Walkway Gap
None!this could be interesting.
Beginning on Earth Day, Friday, April 22nd, and throughout the rest of the weekend, the City of Hoboken will temporarily complete the largest remaining gap in the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway adjacent to Union Dry Dock with a protected multiuse path. The path along Sinatra Drive will begin near the skate park and extend to the intersection with Sinatra Drive North for use by pedestrians and bicyclists, similar to most of the existing waterfront walkway.
In addition, Hudson Bike Share will offer a “Ride for Earth, Ride for Free” day on Saturday, April 23rd. After registering for a free account at hudsonbikeshare.com or through the nextbike mobile app, riders will be able to take an unlimited number of free 30 minute rides all day. Upon registration, a debit or credit card will be required in case of overages or bicycle damage. A $1 deposit to confirm validity of the card will be available for future purchases or refunded if unused in the first two weeks.
Bike Hoboken, Don’t Sit Home, and Hudson Bike Share are partnering for a group ride on Saturday, April 23rd to take advantage of Hudson Bike Share’s “Ride for Earth, Ride for Free” day and the completed waterfront path. For event information, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/825261290911378.
The Hudson River Waterfront Walkway is envisioned as a continuous 18.5 mile multiuse waterfront corridor from Bayonne to the George Washington Bridge. Major sections of the walkway in Hoboken have been completed in recent years including the connection at Weehawken Cove, the reconstruction of Sinatra Park, and a segment adjacent to the Stevens Institute of Technology lot. The last major uncompleted segment in Hoboken is along a section of industrial waterfront owned by Union Dry Dock. In this area, a very narrow sidewalk is shared by thousands of people who enjoy the waterfront.
The temporary multiuse path will occupy the parking lane on the east side of Sinatra Drive from the skate park to Sinatra Drive North and will be delineated with barricades and cones.

This Stunning Modern Barn House Comes Complete With an Apple Orchard and Infinity Pool
None!did you guys see this?

When Janice Parker Landscape Architects arrived at this Connecticut site, they found the remains of what used to be a farm, with the bones of a house, barns, fields, woodlands and a fruit orchard. The architects were taken by the lovely piece of land and its countryside history, so created the wood-clad Modern Barn House as an homage to the property’s past life. They also incorporated the apple orchard and redesigned the landscape to include a large patio and infinity pool.
In order to deliver an authentically designed landscape, Parker told us that firstly, they studied the local landscape and researched the history of the county. The road, a historic travel route, was originally lined with old and declining sugar maples, which the architects celebrated by planting new rows of the same specie placed the traditional 35 feet apart. Herbs and annual plants where placed inside corten steel planters hidden in corners so as not to obstruct the grassy view from the house.
An old split rail fence that divided the property up into small sections was removed and paths were mowed through the newly joined fields. A former pond at the lower point of the land was dredged and replanted, and low bushes were added along the road and the front of the old house for privacy.
Starting a new fruit orchard was a was to pay respect to the historic farmers’ shaping of the land. Here, the firm used grids and geometry, as well as some graceful arches.

None!WE HAVE BATTING CAGES YESS!!!! BUT WHERE ARE THEY ARTICLE????

At the Little League opening day ceremonies today, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer designated the city’s batting cages in honor of Maria Pepe, a Hoboken resident who at the age of 12 was one of the first girls to play Little League baseball and whose actions led to the sport being opened to girls.
“We are proud to name the Maria Pepe Batting Cages in honor of a trailblazer whose passion and bravery opened up Little League to millions of girls,” said Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “Baseball was born in Hoboken, and Maria made sure that everyone, both boys and girls, could play.”
In 1972, Maria Pepe was one of the first girls to play Little League baseball at a time when girls were banned from the sport. After only three games, she was forced to stop playing when the Little League organization threatened to revoke Hoboken’s charter. A successful gender discrimination court case filed on her behalf by the National Organization for Women led to girls being able to play Little League. More than 5 million girls have been able to participate in Little League since.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for this dedication today,” said Maria Pepe. “I am humbled and honored to receive this recognition, but also proud that over 5 million girls have participated in Little League baseball and softball programs over the past 30 years. I am privileged to know that I get to play forever through all the girls who came after me.”
ESPN ranked Maria Pepe playing Little League Baseball as the fifth “Greatest U.S. women’s sports moment” in history. In 2004, Maria threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport. The glove she wore in 1972 is in the Little League Museum in Williamsport and her cap is in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Maria has also been recognized by the NY Yankees and in the PBS series “Makers: Women Who Make America.”

If You Liked ‘Everybody Wants Some!!,’ You’ll Love These 8 Comedies
None!this is an interesting mix of movies
When you come across a great film, it’s always a good idea to do some research and check out other movies that are in the same sphere, so to speak. With our If You Liked series we intend to do just that. Each week we’ll be presenting you with a selection of films you’ll love “if you liked” that week’s particular highlighted movie and/or director.
This week’s film recommendations have been chosen around Richard Linklater’s recently released feel-good sports comedy, Everybody Wants Some!! Linklater, who was the subject of our most recent Behind the Camera feature, is most well known for his 1993 cult-classic, Dazed and Confused. A spiritual successor to D&C, Everybody Wants Some!! follows a group of college baseball players as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.
If you liked Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!! (or Dazed and Confused, for that matter) we highly recommend checking out each of these comedies if you haven’t seen them already: Animal House (1978), Boogie Nights (1997), The Breakfast Club (1985), Clerks (1994), Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), Major League (1989), Old School (2003) and Varsity Blues (1999).

He has put them on “Double Secret Probation” and secretly assigned Omega’s president the task of having their charter revoked.
In the San Fernando Valley in 1977, teenager Eddie Adams gets discovered by porn director Jack Horner, who transforms him into adult-film sensation Dirk Diggler. The film chronicles his rise in the Golden Age of Porn of the 1970s through to his fall during the excesses of the ’80s.
Five high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal. When Dante is called in to cover a shift at his New Jersey convenience store on his day off, his friend Randal helps him pass the time, neglecting his video-store customers next door to hang out in the Quick Stop. Shot entirely in black and white, Clerks was written and directed by Kevin Smith and is the first of Smith’s View Askewniverse films, and introduces several recurring characters, notably Jay and Silent Bob.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High is a 1982 coming-of-age comedy written by Cameron Crowe, adapted from his 1981 book of the same name. As a freelance writer for Rolling Stone magazine, Crowe went undercover at Clairemont High School in San Diego, California, and wrote about his experiences. The film was directed by Amy Heckerling and chronicles a school year in the lives of sophomores Stacy Hamilton and Mark Ratner, and their respective older friends Linda Barrett and Mike Damone.

After discovering his girlfriend has been participating in group sex, Mitch feels his world come undone.
