A selection of mindblowingly good, eye boggling work from Maurizio Catelan, an Italian mixed media artist who creates strong satirical sculptures & some brilliantly odd photographic collaborations which he puts together with photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari.

Since Hedi Slimane took over from Stefano Pilati as creative director of Yves Saint Laurent early last year, he’s made a whole heap of divisive changes – not least shortening the name of the iconic fashion house to Saint Laurent – and his debut of the Resort 2014 collection this week stands as solid proof that he doesn’t intend to slow down any time soon.

The work of artist Derek Paul Boyle can often seem humorous. Everyday objects are presented in simple juxtapositions that can be pleasantly surprising. His work begins with suppositions, trusted concepts, and expectations and ‘plays’ with them. Boyle depicts the familiar from a different conceptual angle to make his subject matter new. He says:
“I am interested in the power of contradiction, objects as events, and incompatible states of the self – what was once bound is made free, the known made unknown. In a wavering step between angst and serenity, fear and pleasure, I want to give form to anxiety, a shape to tension.”

Critically acclaimed film collective CANADA are the guys responsible for Phoenix’s clever and quirky new music video for track “Trying To Be Cool”, which was captured using two cameras in a single studio environment. The video was shot entirely live in full takes of the song, meaning the camera crew had to run between positions every 25 seconds to capture the increasingly extravagant scenes, including confetti canons, motorcycles, a room full of synchronised dancers and a monkey. The track comes from the French band’s latest album Bankrupt! which is available now.
