You know you’ve always wanted to own a piece of Hollywood, and Russell Crowe‘s “The Art of Divorce” auction through Sotheby’s Australia might just be your chance. The Oscar-winning actor is going through the last steps in finalizing a divorce from almost-former-wife Danielle Spencer.
Crowe has said this auction is to “create some space for the future” in an interview with Australia’s Daily Telegraph.
“The sale represents the dispersal of a highly personal collection that was assembled by Crowe over many years, including those shared with his former wife Danielle Spencer,” the official auction catalogue on Sotheby’s reads.
Some of the highlights in the collection aren’t even the movie stuff (for me personally, Russell’s guitars are the real gems), but there are some notable pieces that I wasn’t expecting to see, like the 1986 Grammy award presented to Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Sam Phillips, Rick Nelson, and Chips Moman for best spoken word or non-musical recording for interviews from the Class of ’55 recording session.
Like Maximus’s cuirass from the death scene in Gladiator, which has an early estimate of $20,000 t0 30,000.

Or maybe you’d prefer Javert’s vest from the 2012 film version of Les Miserables, because that’s in here for an estimate of $1,500-2,000.
The sleeves vest with a high black collar embroidered to the front with fleur de lis, brass buttons.
“This vest was part of my costume for Les Misérables (2012). The actual uniform had sleeves and a tail. When filming horse riding scenes in this costume, with a blue riding coat over the top, it was very uncomfortable so I asked the costume department to make a version that was only what you would see under the coat,” Crowe says. (Javert’s full uniform is also available.)
Maybe Master and Commander is more your speed, in which case Captain Jack Aubrey’s number 2 blues naval uniform is the lot for you, with anestimate of $25,000-35,000.
Worn in the scene in which ‘Captain Jack Aubrey’ orders his crew to land, in order for ‘Dr Maturin’ to operate on his own wound, comprising a dark blue, long wool Captain’s coat with gold thread embroidered shoulder boards and brass Naval buttons, a cream coloured ruffled cotton shirt, a cream wool vest, cream coloured breeches and a black neck wrap tie, and a pair of high top black leather riding boots and cream woollen socks, together with a framed photograph of Russell Crowe as ‘Captain Jack Aubrey’, signed to the reverse by Russell Crowe
The auction is definitely worth a look if you are a Russell Crowe fan, or enjoy a good catalogue of items you’ll never be able to afford.
The newest trailer for Deadpool 2 dropped today featuring everyone’s favorite character Dopinder. But seriously, the trailer is awesome and watch for Deadpool mentioning the formation of X-Force.
Not content with being locked up in their offices 24/7 as they grind out fifteen and thirty-minute blocks of pure genius on a regular basis, “The Powers That Be” at Adult Swim are taking it to the streets on October 6-7 for their very first Adult Swim Festival. Set for downtown Los Angeles, the two-day “massive marketplace” will feature premiere screenings, comedy performances, interactive gaming and a live musical lineup headlined by Rick and Morty‘s newest friends Run the Jewels.
Now that we got that mandatory stuff out of the way, let’s get to why you’re really here: new Rick and Morty!
Our “Two Horsemen of the Inter-Dimensional Apocalypse” go the Quentin Tarantino/Pulp Fiction route with an ultimate Vincent and Jules “cosplay” in the new promotional video for Adult Swim Fest, set to Run the Jewels (El-P and Killer Mike) track “Oh Mama” from the rap duo’s 2016 album Run the Jewels 3.
So until word comes down from the mountaintop regarding a fourth season, here’s a quick fix of Rick and Morty to get you by:
“Adult Swim already does television like no one else. Now it’s time to bring that same unique approach to a one-of-a-kind festival experience. The Adult Swim Festival will feature everything fans love about us…great shows, cutting edge music, and a passionate community to enjoy it all together.”
– Jill King, SVP Marketing and Partnerships, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim/Boomerang
Adult Swim Festival currently has a limited number of “early bird” discounted weekend festival passes on sale now at adultswimfestival.com; with additional single-day and weekend passes available in May.
Adult Swim Festival marks the latest in the networks commitment to both new musical artists as well as live events that allows for fans to engage with their favorite shows and creators. This festival joins a current live event slate that includes Adult Swim on the Green, the Samurai Jack Premiere and the recent Thrashtacular heavy metal concert series. With what now looks to be an annual tradition, the Adult Swim Singles Program has featured over 100 artists and has generated close to 20 million streams on SoundCloud over the past three years.
Rick and Morty is Adult Swim’s most scientifically accurate animated comedy. Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, it catalogues the bizarre misadventures of a bored scientific genius/drunkard and his socially awkward grandson, Morty. Their exploits tend to have unintended consequences for Morty’s dysfunctional family, especially his unfailingly mediocre father, Jerry.
Dool now that you live in England and tea is mandatory.
I never developed a taste for tea, or hot leaf water, as it should be more accurately called. But how else am I going to justify spending $71 on a novelty stovetop kettle shaped like Darth Vader’s helmet? It’s even got a tiny replica of Vader’s lightsaber for its handle. How am I supposed to resist that? I’m only…
Thanks to The Nerdist presents, we get to see The Room creator, writer, director, star Tommy Wiseau in an audition video to play The Joker.
He doesn’t look half bad, actually
To explain a bit, rumors have mostly-but-not-really been all but confirmed that Joaquin Phoenix will be playing the ultimate Batman baddie in the upcoming live-action Joker origin story film.
Wiseau started tweeting to director Todd Phillips about wanting to play the part of The Joker, and shortly thereafter The Room costar Greg Sestero said he’d play Batman to Tommy’s Joker.
Not gonna lie, this is pretty f*cking terrifying to watch, and if you’re watching it at work or in a crowded room, make sure your volume levels are down — because it gets LOUD.
The results are… well…
Just. Why, Nerdist, why?
The entire ‘audition’ is staged, obviously, and maybe it’s more than a little mean spirited towards Tommy, who by all accounts doesn’t always understand the difference between reality and film.
Wiseau and Sestero have a new film coming out, Best F(r)iends Movie, and Tommy has even said that there’s another project after that called Scary Love.
Looks cool but may go off the deep end like lots of Soderberg's stuff.
Most speculative fiction about futures where people use bionic technology to augment their bodies asks questions about what it means to be human when your body is increasingly manufactured. But Eddie Alcazar’s Perfect, premiering at this year’s SXSW, imagines a world where bionics are designed to take things away…

Is there anything better than sciencey types geeking out over biodiversity in the form of overly earnest fake Amazon reviews? If the “rateaspecies” hashtag making rounds on Twitter this weekend is any indicator, probably not.
Christopher Eccleston has rarely been diplomatic in discussing why he took roles in blockbuster comic book movies like G.I.Joe or Thor: The Dark World. But his latest declaration about the times he grabbed glitzy Hollywood roles for the cash might just be his strongest burn yet.
We’ve still got another year before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, but Disney is temporarily sating our thirst with a new peek at what’s in store. And holy crap, it’s massive.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon continues to be the late night show that keeps on giving, and last night’s ‘Hamilton Polka’ lip syncing segment is proof of that.
Weird Al Yankovic and Lin-Manuel Miranda had been teasing individual song releases for the better part of a month, and two days ago we found out they were joining forces for a #HamilDrop- ‘The Hamilton Polka’.
Last night on The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon had both Yankovic and Miranda on as guests, and couldn’t resist the opportunity to have them lip sync the new version of the tune.
I think my favorite part is Lin wearing a classic Weird Al shirt — can’t get much better than that.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone shortly after the taping of The Tonight Show segment, Lin spoke a bit about what having Weird Al do a song based on one of his creations meant to him as a long-time fan:
Rolling Stone:Let’s go through the history here. Lin, tell me your first memory of hearing “Weird Al” music when you were younger.
Miranda: Oh, God. My first memory was hearing “Fat,” which is a spoof of “Bad,” and like most “Weird Al” fans you discover that there is a catalog and this isn’t a one-off. “Oh, my God. There’s tons of these.” I remember asking my parents for “Weird Al” albums for Christmas and I remember the Christmas morning. There were all these cassettes, Dare to Be Stupid, Polka Party, In 3-D. I kinda got the mother lode all at once. And that’s the rest of my childhood right here.
Weird Al was also there for the interview, and he spoke about the first time Lin contacted him:
Rolling Stone: Al, tell me your first memory of being aware of Lin.
Yankovic: I think it was when Lin actually contacted me. He wanted me to see In the Heights, but for whatever reason I wasn’t able to do it at the time. But I wasn’t really keyed into Broadway at the time. It was a big deal, but it wasn’t part of my world. After that, I started looking into Lin’s stuff and it wasn’t too long after that. Help me out with the history here. Had you done the White House performance?
Miranda: That was 2009. We didn’t meet until 2010 or ’11 or so.
Here’s hoping this isn’t the last time we see the pair together.
The Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law Sherlock Holmes movies were odd little things. The first one did pretty well at the box office and did a good job of setting up for what should have been an even better sequel. However, the second wound up being commercially successful but the critics didn’t view it as kindly. There have been rumors about a third movie for years now but without any apparent movement. At least one part of that duo is still up for it though: in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly Downey Jr. was asked what he plans to do next. He’s currently working on The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle and he confirmed that he still wants to play Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective again for a third entry in the series.
First of all the missus is front and center with Joe Roth producing Doolittle. I’m having a good time, though I decided to give myself, like, 40 additional challenges, like a Welsh accent — which even Welsh people say is hard to do. Then there’s all this stuff down the pike. We’re looking at another Sherlock Holmes, we’re developing Perry Mason for HBO. I still want to do Pinocchio.
That sounds like a busy schedule for a man who just came off shooting two huge movies back to back and Downey Jr. agrees:
I have a million ideas, but I can tell you the God’s honest truth. Having done Avengers 3and 4 back-to-back, and now doing [Doolittle] … When I’m done with this, if you hear I’m not taking a break, call me and tell me I’m crazy.
So despite the fact that Downey Jr. does want to do a third movie, but it also sounds like he could really use some time off as well. The last installment came out in 2011 but it would hardly be the first series to a very late sequel or third entry. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, we’ll just have to wait and see if there is any movement on this one.
In today’s “I forgot they were doing this” news, we have the first trailer for the upcoming The Grinch revisit animated film starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the neon green grouch. I mean, Grinch.
Illumination, the studio behind Universal’s animated features as Despicable Me and Minions, is behind this new take on the classic 1957 Dr. Seuss story. The original animated film first premiered in 1966 and has remained a seminal touchstone of the holiday season.
Just in case you aren’t familiar — The Grinch, a green creature with a remarkably small heart for his body size, hates Christmas and anything happy. He and his trusty canine Max embark on a crazy mission to steal the tinsel trees, gifts, and food from the Whos of neighboring community Whoville. (Maybe you’ll recall the live-action adaptation that Jim Carrey did in 2000.)
In this new version, directors Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney tell writer Michael LeSieur‘s story along with Despicable Me/Minions producers Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy.
Doctor Strange and Sherlock star Cumberbatch is playing the title character. Check out the trailer:
Originally scheduled to be released on November 10th, 2017, The Grinch is set to hit theaters on November 9th with a score by Danny Elfman.
Jon Favreau is set to write and executive produce a live action Star Wars TV series to air on Disney’s upcoming digital streaming service, according to a report from THR. There’s no further information from the report, though there is a statement from Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy:
I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform. Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.
Last month, Disney CEO Bob Igerconfirmed that the new Disney streaming service would feature multiple Star Wars shows and new Marvel shows. The Star Wars movies will also be exclusive to the new service, along with Marvel films and a Muppetsreboot, amongst others. We’ll update if any more information becomes available on this breaking story.

In just a few short days, Jessica Jones returns to Netflix for season two. But while much time hasn’t passed for Jess, for us it’s been over two years (not counting The Defenders, that is) since she faced the sinister Kilgrave. Need a quick catch up before you binge season two this week? This is what you need to…
The Mountain might be a dead man walking on Game of Thrones, but Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson might be the most “alive” person on the entire planet. Over the weekend, he beat a world record by casually deadlifting 1,041 pounds. Now, all we need is to see him bench press a dragon.
It’s been a while since the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Luke Cage got a chance to just go home to sit back, relax, and enjoy a little time to himself—he’s been busy saving the world and whatnot. In the first trailer for Luke Cage season 2, though, Luke’s headed back to Harlem for some much needed time off.
Netflix’s extremely popular science fiction anthology series, Black Mirror, has been renewed for a fifth season. The announcement came in the form of a cryptic tweet this morning with the video below and the line: “The future will be brighter than ever.” Though a bit ambiguous, Variety is reporting that this does indeed mean the show will be back. Reviews on the series fourth series, that was released in late December of last year, were very positive. The U.S.S. Callister episode, a take off of the original Star Trek series, was the seasons highlight.
For those not familiar with Black Mirror, it is a British science-fiction television anthology series created by Charlie Brooker. The show centers on the dark and potentially twisted consequences of modern society and the effects of new technologies. Its an anthology series set in either alternate presents or near futures and are self-contained episodes. The series originally debuted on the British Channel 4 back in December 2011 with a second series running in February 2013. A third series was ordered by Netflix, which aired in 2016. The fourth season was commissioned and wrapped filming in June 2017 and debuted in late December.
Black Mirror season 4 is currently streaming on Netflix.
Well, if you’re in the US, that is. Marvel Studios just made a surprise announcement that Avengers: Infinity War has moved its US release from May 4 to a worldwide release on April 27.
No, I mean real genuine soul food. The kind that has actual souls in it. Nobody? No takers? Oh well, I guess Freddy is going to have to dine alone tonight on this Nightmare on Elm Street Animated Soul Pizza. I don’t think he will [...]
Hamilton star/composer/writer/general good dude Lin-Manuel Miranda has been teasing a special #Hamildrop for February 30th (nice), and fans have been playing detective ever since it was announced. Weird Al Yankovic also separately announced that his new single would be hitting Friday as well. People starting putting two and two together, and now we know.
‘The Hamilton Polka’ drops tonight at midnight.
Weird Al’s parody songs have been delighting us for… over 30 years (holy cow, that is crazy), and there is no reason to believe that this one will disappoint. A few personal favorites: ‘Another One Rides the Bus’, ‘I Lost On Jeopardy’, ‘Fat’, ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Gump’, ‘Trapped in the Drive-Thru’, and of course, ‘The Saga Begins’. Because I feel like it, here is the video for that one, because it should be watched every day:
One can only imagine what kind of amazing nonsense we will get blasting into our ears tonight, but hopefully it includes Miranda as well. A confession: I have not seen Hamilton nor have I heard most of the music. It is finally coming to my neck of the woods later this year and I have plans to see it. I just get funny about hearing the music for a stage musical before I hear it onstage the first time. Hopefully this can tide me over.

Poop should not be a trend. Nevertheless turd toys were everywhere at Toy Fair this year. But it wasn’t all fecal fare. Boogers, farts, and pimples were all the subject of toys appropriate for kids too. As toymakers can’t seem to stop pushing the limits, we set to find the grossest toys we could.
