Morbus Wilson

Remove or Replace the Windows Shortcut Arrow With this Tool

Windows: Shortcuts on your desktop (or anywhere else) are usually indicated by that little arrow in the bottom-left corner of the icon. It’s a tad ugly and a new tool called Windows Shortcut Arrow Editor lets you remove it, change it to the old XP style, or customize it with your own arrow.

Which Way Should the Toilet Paper Roll?

by Walter Glenn

Which Way Should the Toilet Paper Roll?

Roll-based toilet paper dispensing has been around since 1883 and, we're presuming, so has the argument about whether it should hang over or under. Now, we want to hear your opinion. And make it count, because we'll be posting a follow-up article next week with the best arguments on both sides.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson says his criticisms of 'Gravity' are a compliment to its quality

by Aaron Souppouris

This post contains mild spoilers for Gravity.

After posting a series of humorous nitpicking tweets on Gravity last Sunday, Neil DeGrasse Tyson has taken to Facebook to compliment the movie's quality. In the lengthy post, Tyson notes that he was "stunned" to see the media attention given to the tweets, before explaining his actions.

"What few people recognize," says Tyson, "is that science experts don't line up to critique Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs or Man of Steel or Transformers or The Avengers. These films offer no premise of portraying a physical reality."

The converse is also true, he explains. "If a film happens to portray an awesome bit of science when there's otherwise no premise of scientific accuracy, then I'm the...
