Plans for the TV anime adaptation of Ace Attorney have been listed, with the Capcom trial game series slated to run on YTV Saturdays at 17:30 starting in April (leading into Detective Conan). Space Brothers director Ayumu Watanabe is back at A-1 Picture to helm the series with Atsuhiro Tomioka (Pokemon) writing and Kaworu Wada (InuYasha) on music.

The official website for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Yoshiaki Sukeno's supernatural action manga Sousei no Onmyouji/Twin Star Exorcists today posted a 30-second teaser PV titled "Kaimon-hen" (Opening a Gate chapter). The video was first screened at the Jump Festa 2016 event today. Following the three main voice cast: Natsuki Hanae as Rokuro Enmado, Megumi Han as Benio Adashino and Ayumu Murase as Yuuto Ijika, its main staff are also announced today. The TV anime is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2016.

A contingent of One-Punch Man fans haven't been entirely convinced of the anime adaptation faithfulness to the manga versions. Yuusuke Murata, artist on the Young Jump remake, took to Twitter to address the controversy, also retweeting a fan's translation of the strip explaining how the anime developed the way it did.

Japan on July 4. In spite of its limited release, it ranked 11th in the weekend box office. And its Blu-ray disc

released on October 28 took the top spot in the Oricon weekly overall Blu-ray sales chart selling about 19,000

Crunchyroll previously reported on how Shogakukan-Shueisha's PAL Shop was developing a series of life-sized, 1:1 scale figures of Lum Invader, the heroine of Rumiko Takahashi's classic sci-fi romantic-comedy manga and anime, Urusei Yatsura. Now new information is available: the production run will be limited to 50 figures total, and each figure will sell for 1 million yen ($8150.96 US) including shipping.

 

 

Additionally, some photos have surfaced of the unpainted figures-in-progress. The finished figures will stand 160 centimeters (5 foot, 3 inches) tall and weigh 25 kilograms (55 pounds), including the base. The figures will be made of fibre-reinforced plastic and the base will be made of steel. HARA PAINT WORKS will provide the paint job for both.

 

 

The hand-crafted figures are being produced under the supervision of Rumiko Takahashi, and each figure will come with a numbered base signed by Takahashi as well. The figures will be available to pre-order from a special webpage beginning in January of 2016.

This year, Anime studio TMS Entertainment produced five "Dededen" anime shorts celebrating their 50th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the local Seibu Railways, which have now wrapped up with something appropriately seasonal. 

 

Hiro Kaburaki (My Little Monster, Kimi ni Todoke, Hozuki's Coolheadedness) directs with animal character design by Kayoko Ishikawa meant to invoke past TMS works and S.E.N.S. on the music.

In an interview, brand manager Hitoshi Kato and producer Shinji Goda have told Famitsu that the fantasy series inspired Record of Lodoss War Online MMORPG is slated to launch in early 2016. The game, developed by Red Stone's L&K Logic Korea and published by GameOn, was first announced in 2013, but was later delayed after alpha testing. 

 

The game, which has a classic, top down look meant to appeal to fans in their late 30s/early 40s, will offer players the chance to play as Esquires (knights), Oracles (priests) or Magic Users, with the races featured in the fantasy adventure, and start with a story based on Lodoss' "Gray Witch" before progressing further into the series' plot. Familiar heroes such as Parn and Deedlit will also be making appearances.

 

More news and promotion is planned for the new year.

China has gamified being an obedient citizen with the creation of Sesame Credit. The game links to your social network and gives you a score for doing things that the government approves of, but it also reduces that score for doing things the government disapproves of. Even your friends' scores affect your own, and being friends with people who have a low score will drag your score down as well. This insidious system applies social pressure on people to ostracize their friends with lower scores, either forcing those friends to change their ways or effectively quarantining their rebellious ideas. While many sci-fi visions of a dystopian future have centered around a bleak government that controls through fear, Sesame Credit shows us that a government can use gamification and positive reinforcement to be just as controlling. And it's real. While currently the system is opt-in, the government plans to make it mandatory in 2020. Once mandatory, it may give rewards for good scores or penalties for bad ones. And in the meantime, making it opt-in has already set the tone for the game: people participate willingly, so they find it fun, and they set a very high standard for what the "average" score should be. Already people have begun sharing their scores on social media.

Streaming service Netflix has begun offering Trigger's 2013 short Little Witch Academia, produced as part of the Anime Mirai project with funding from the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs to help train young animators, and Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, its 2015 follow-up partially funded through a Kickstarter camapaign.

In February of 2016, Kadokawa will be launching a new label entitled "Novel Zero", which will publish light novels aimed at men in their 30s. The launch of "Novel Zero" comes as a response to the current saturation of the light novel market by series aimed at young men. The goal of "Novel Zero" is to depict a "cool", "heroic", and "adult" lifestyle that will appeal to an older audience.

 

 

The "Novel Zero" label with begin publication on February 15, 2016. The initial line-up includes new works from such authors as Isao Miura (The Sacred Blacksmith), Hikaru Sugii (Heaven's Memo Pad), and Hiro Itou (Why Not Go to JUSCO with Me, Valkyrie?) and others. Saban's localization of the Smile PreCure! anime, Glitter Force, is getting ready to make its English debut on Netflix. The 20-episode first season hits the streaming service worldwide, excluding Asia, on December 18, and you can see a preview in the first-look trailer below.

In addition to the ongoing fourth TV series, Nihon TV will also air a new two-hour TV special Lupin the Third: Italian Game at 21:00 on January 8, 2016 (JST). It will be the first Lupin TV special in two years, since the 24th Princess of the Breeze - The Hidden City in the Sky in November 2013. The fourth TV series' director Yuichiro Yano also works on the special, alongside general director Kazuhude Tomonaga.

 

The story begins with the kidnapping of Rebecca Rossellini, the new heroin of the fourth series who got married with Lupin in the first episode. During rescuing her from the kidnapper, Lupin receives a challenge from a mysterious man named "The Masked Count." The target is the inheritance of Count Cagliostro (it is not clear whether it means the same character appeared in the 1979 film The Castle of Cagliostro).

 

44-year-old voice actor Tsuda Kenjiro, best known as Seto Kaiba in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, is cast as

The Masked Count, while 61-year-old Bin Shimada voices Gaspare Balsamo, a descendant of

The official website for the upcoming 20th Detective Conan film, Meitantei Conan: Jyunkoku no Nihtmare/Detective Conan: Pure Black Nightmare today posted a 30-second teaser introducing complicated battle among Detective (Conan), Public Security Intelligence Agency, FBI, and the Black Organization. The 20th film is set for a release in Japan on April 16, 2016, distributed by Toho.

 

Koubun Shizno, who has directed recent five Conan films, from 2011's Quarter of Silence to 2015's Sunflowers of Inferno, is once again back to the director's chair. He was also recently highly praised for his directorial works for the Knights of Sidonia series. Takeharu Sakurai, who worked on 2013's Private Eye in the Distant Sea and 2015's Sunflowers of Inferno, provides the script.

To promote the release of its 3rd volume in Japan today on December 12, Shogakukan has posted a 15-second anime CM for MAJOR 2nd, the ongoing sequel to Takuya Mitsuda's baseball-themed manga MAJOR. The sequel featuring Daigo Shigeno, the son of the protagonist of the original series, Goro, started its serialization in the 15th issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday published on March 11, and has already reached 1.5 million print run with two tankobon volumes.

 

The video is narrated by Goro's original anime voice actor Showtaro Morikubo. Mutsumi Tamura (Ride Mass in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) voices his son Daigo, alongside Yuuma Uchida as Daigo's partner Hikaru Sato.

The official website for the TV anime adaptation project based on Sorata Akizuki's fantasy shoujo manga Akagami no Shirayukihime/Snow White with the Red Hair today posted a 90-second PV for the upcoming 2nd cour to premiere on January 11, 2016, featuring the new OP song "Sono Koe ga Chizu ni Naru" (The voice will become a map) sung by Saori Hayami who also sang the 1st cour's OP "Yasashii Kibou" (Tender Hop). The new ED "Page-Kimi to Tsuzuru Monogatari" (Page-The story to write with you) is performed by three-member unit eyelis. The first cour was aired for 12 episodes in Japan from July to September of this year.
