Just saw this on Tiger Direct

I'm not sure if they will ship to Australia, but a 4K TV at this price is unheard of.

Cheers

Exactly 12 months until the death of Windows XP

by tritonsecure@gmail.com (David Heath)

Today, the second Tuesday of April 2013, marks the beginning of the final year of support for Windows XP.

Microsoft’s Windows XP, released more than a decade ago marks the point where they finally “got it right.” This was the first consumer OS from Microsoft to be based on the NT kernel and was intended to merge the Windows 9x and NT product lines – something that it did admirably.

When released in 2001, XP was the Windowing OS that did everything we needed and, with the arrival of Service Pack 2 in 2004, was also “secure enough” for most needs (assuming we all kept up with the monthly patches, of course!).

Exactly one year ago, we wrote that XP had two years remaining until all support was removed by Microsoft. And now we write again with just one year remaining.

Everyone please be warned, the final “patch Tuesday” for Windows XP will occur on April 8th 2014. After that, there will be no more.

{loadposition davidh08}With this in mind, there has been speculation that the “bad guys on the Internet” have started collecting unknown exploits and not (yet) using them in the hope that they will not be fixed before end-of-life, making legacy XP machines ripe for the taking; with no hope of repair.

Conversely, in this writer’s experience, there are many corporations STILL issuing new machines to staff with XP as the default OS – these companies are making a huge problem for themselves. On the other hand, there are also many software packages that do not work on any OS newer than XP.

Fun times ahead!

Allow me to re-iterate the warning. After April 8th 2014, Microsoft will cease all support for XP. Anyone still running XP at that point will be entirely on their own.
