Smile PreCure!'s Cure Happy/Miyuki Hoshizora Donates Anne Frank's Diary

by Mikikazu Komatsu

Yokohama-city's Kanagawa Ward Office announced on March 3 that a person named himself/herself as Cure Happy/Miyuki Hoshizora, one of the main characters from Toei Animation's popular 2012-2013 TV anime series Smile PreCure!, has donated three copies of Anne Frank's biography and stationery including pencils, pencil cases, and drawing books, to the office. The donated goods were founded at the main entrance around at 10:00 am the day before.

Since late February, hundreds of copies of “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl” and other books related to her, the young Holocaust victim during World War II, at public libraries across Tokyo and the Kanto area have been found vandalized by someone. Kanagawa Public Library in the ward also found on February 25 that one page of their Anne Frank's Diary book was ripped out. As of today March 5, the police have not found the offender.

The letter bundled with the goods says, "Congratulations on starting kindergarten/school. I hope you all

spend every day with a smile. From Cure Happy/Miyuki Hoshizora." A person or people used the same

name Cure Happy already donated twice in last December and this January. The office will send the books

to the library and the stationery to children's nursing homes.

VIDEO: "Akame ga Kill!" Anime Teaser - UPDATED

by Scott Green
Dsider

Well my interest is piqued, but we'll see how it turns out.

Last month's Gangan Joker magazine (home of Watamote's four panel spin-off, Dusk Maiden of AmnesiaInu x Boku SS) confirmed Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro's 2010 nine-volume, ongoing Akame ga KILL! is slated to become a TV anime. Now, TOHO Animation has posted a new teaser.

The series follows a fighter from a poverty stricken village who falls in with a group of corrupting fighting assassins after being robbed upon arrival in the Capital. It's also notoriously violent, as Wikipedia chronicles, featuring scenes of beheadings, characters having eyes gouged out, limbs broken and removed, torture, committing suicide by jumping, execution by boiling, characters having their faces sliced off, crucifixion, a pregnant woman being torn apart, and a woman being assaulted by a dog.

When Every Nintendo Game Looked The Same (And Was Better For It)

by Luke Plunkett
Dsider

Eh, I mostly just miss those custom cartridge colors for some games. The black Killer Instinct cartridge is still one of my favorites. And of course, the smooth gold OoT and MM carts. There were a lot of nice custom GBA carts near the end of its lifespan too (obviously, all those Pokemon versions).

When Every Nintendo Game Looked The Same (And Was Better For It)

Outside of budget lines, video game box and disc art these days is a unique and varied art. No two games' presentation looks the same. But for a short time, right back at the beginning of their days in the home console market, Nintendo bucked this trend. And it's a shame they never stuck with it.
