The highlight of this year's Melee bracket without a doubt.

One Of The Highlights Of EVO 2014 Was An Incredible Win With Pikachu

Hyping the crowd with a Pikachu plushie, Smash Bros. player Axe pulled an incredible win against Silent Wolf with his Pikachu, beating the hell out of his opponent in record time. It wasn't the grand finals, but without a doubt one of the best moments of all the games played at EVO 2014.

"Assassination Classroom" TV Anime Set for January 2015

by Mikikazu Komatsu
Dsider

Seiji Kishi directing again? I'm really getting tired of this guy.

The official site for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Yusei Matsui's Ansatsu Kyoushitsu/Assassination Classroom manga announced today on July 14 that it will premiere in Fuji TV's Friday midnight block in January 2015. Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, Danganronpa, Persona 4) directs the TV anime with scripts by Makoto Uezu (School Days, The Qwaser of Stigmata) for Lerche (Unbreakable Machine-Doll, Re:_Hamatora). Kazuaki Morita (Kamisama Dolls, Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova-) designs the anime version characters. The live-action film also plans a 2015 release, but no details including the cast has been yet announced.

It is also announced "Korosensei Shop," the only-shop for the franchise's limited items will open at Fuji TV's "Odaiba Shin Tairiku (New World) 2014" event in Odaiba, Tokyo, on July 19. You can check the collaboration visual for the event featuring Nagisa, Karma, Kaede, and Korosensei below.

Haha so many callbacks to Lost. And gyargh, what is that on Teri Hatcher's head.

Hair as Exposition: The Best and Worst of Flashback Hair

When TV and movies do flashbacks, they face a dilemma: They can either cast a younger actor that looks like their star, sacrificing easy recognition OR they can just slap a wig on their actor as an indication that we're seeing the past. And it always looks wrong. It's the uncanny valley of hair.

Referring to Khaleesi, who the hell names their kid after a title? They're not pets. Don't tell me parents are also naming their kids Kingslayer. Sigh.

Katniss is poised to be among the most popular name for babies born in 2014. According to Nameberry, which has kept track of the most viewed names so far this year, Katniss is at 14, with The Fault In Our Stars' Hazel in 13th place, and Khaleesi at 18. We'll see if searches correspond to actual names. [The Guardian]

Ever heard of the "cloud glitch" in Super Mario World? It's a technique that allows you to spawn a usable Lakitu cloud in your item box, which you can then use to speed through the game. Heck, the glitch even allows you to skip some of the animations in the final Bowser fight, peculiarly enough.

This video shows how pretty much everything in Game of Thrones is fake

By now, we know that Game of Thrones uses a heavy VFX hand when it comes to building the world of Westeros but it's still amazing how real their visual effects can make it look. That's because pretty much everything is fake. Seriously. Anything far off in the distance or people standing around or flags waving have all been added in digitally.
