De vooraanstaande Belgische viroloog Marc Van Ranst ziet twee oorzaken van de forse stijging van het aantal coronabesmettingen in zijn land: die is enerzijds te verklaren doordat mensen elkaar vaker zien, en anderzijds doordat zij terugkomen van vakantie, zegt hij dinsdag in gesprek met NU.nl.

Tomorrow, we will travel to Germany for our first record attempt at the DEKRA test track. From the 26th until the 29th of July, this track will be available for recumbent cyclists from all over the world. During this event, it is possible to attempt to break the hour record, the 6 hour, the 12 hour or the 24 hour record.
In contrast to previous years, the team focuses this year on the Battle Mountain record. That does not mean that DEKRA is an unimportant event, because DEKRA is very important to the team! Just like in Battle Mountain, everything has to be just right in order to break the world record and both cyclist get only one chance. This makes DEKRA an extremely important test for the team and we will bring our A-game!

This will also be necessary, because the competition is though. One of them is Damjan Zabownik. Together with Francesco Russo, he designed the Eivistretto, the bicycle in which Francesco broke the world record in 2011. Daniel Fenn is also one of the competitors. This year, he won the World Cup in Leer and reached a top speed of 86,9 km/h. There is also another student team racing. These students and professors from the IUT d’Annecy have Aurelien Bonneteau as a cyclist. He is one of the fastest and strongest recumbent cyclists in the world.
Long story short, DEKRA is the ideal opportunity to test our team and the VeloX3 and it is our first chance to break a world record! The best teams in the world will be there, but we are ready.
