Late night talkshow man Jimmy Kimmel just hosted the premiere of the trailer for the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. It looks like a lot of things that you'd expect from a film adaption of Ubisoft's period piece money press.
Set to a snappy Kanye West track, the trailer prominently features acrobatic killing and choreographed combat. The Spanish Inquisition seems to be an intriguing backdrop for all this -- a time of political and religious strife when no one felt safe. Somewhat suspect, the protagonist never once goes out of his way to collect a floating rooftop tchotchke.
However, it's the present day stuff that catches my eye. This take on Abstergo appears appropriately sinister, the ne'er-do-wells up to no good again. But look at that Animus! It's not the modified dentist chair Animus or the doctor's table Animus. Instead, that goddamn thing is a giant robotic arm that picks its subject way off the ground, presumably suspending them in the air while extracting their memories. The Templars are classing it up for their big silver screen debut.
Looks good and all, but I am confused. Didn't they try to make one with that Jeremy guy? And are we supposed to pretend that one didn't happen or what?
After a hiatus, Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are again teaming up on a new Bourne film.
Last week, whoever is responsible for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie released a publicity picture of Elizabeth Banks as villainess bad bitch Rita Repulsa, and I think it put a rash on my eyeballs, because she looked like a mutated Poison Ivy. Well, now here’s a bunch of pictures from the Canadian set in Vancouver of Elizabeth Banks’ full costume, and I don’t really see a mutated Poison Ivy anymore. I see Lady CaCa circa Born This Way in a costume that was inspired by the aloe vera plant she had an intense conversation with while tripping on LSD. Like I said yesterday, I was on a boat this weekend and got a sunburn, so I just want to reach through the screen, rip off a piece of Rita’s aloe vera costume and rub it on my skin.
I also see a bunch of She-Ra action figures mashed up into one, and that makes me sad. Because I wish that Hollywood would’ve done a She-Ra movie instead of a damn Power Rangers movie. It’s not too late! They can still scrap that Power Rangers shit, and use the costumes to make 80s dreams come true by doing a She-Ra movie. I mean, with just a few tweaks, Elizabeth’s busted Rita Repulsa costume can be changed into a gorgeous Double Trouble costume!
Please, Hollywood, make this happen. Do something right for once!

Over the weekend, The Wall Street Journal reported that Hulu was close to signing deal that would include live streaming rights to Disney Channel, ESPN, FX, ABC, and Fox News. Today, CEO Mike Hopkins announced that Hulu will be bringing “live programming from broadcast and cable brands” in 2017.

Today Oculus has announced plans to offer in-store demos at 48 Best Buy locations across the U.S. starting on May 7th.
Selling VR headsets is a particularly tough challenge because the only way to understand the experience of virtual reality is to see it for yourself.
Oculus plans to combat that hurdle by bringing in-store Rift demo stations to potential customers. The company says that on May 7th they’ll roll out such demo headsets in 48 Best Buy stores across the U.S. as part of The Intel Experience.
Apparently anticipating great demand, the company has launched ‘Oculus Live‘, a scheduling system to allow advanced Oculus Rift demo appointments up to a month ahead of time.
Experiences shown at the demos include Crytek’s The Climb, vignettes from Dreamdeck, and Farlands.
Oculus also says that folks who pre-ordered the Rift but manage to buy the headset at retail (with limited quantities available at “select” Best Buy stores starting May 7 and online from Microsoft and Amazon, starting May 6 at 9am PST) will be able to keep their pre-order benefits. The company says to go to your order status to let them know if you’ve purchased the headset at retail and they will cancel your pre-order while letting you keep your copy of EVE: Valkyrie, position in line for the Oculus Touch launch, and offers for Oculus Ready PCs.

In the AbFab movie, Patsy and Edina go on the run to the French Riviera after they accidentally knock Kate Moss into the Thames while trying to sign her to their PR firm at a party. Saffy, Bubble, Lulu and Mother are also in it. This is the perfect palate cleanser if you made the wrong decision to watch that shit dingle Zoolander #2.
The cast list for the Twin Peaks reboot is so long that you’ll need to eat at least 3 protein bars and Gorilla Glue your eyelids to your face to get through it, and the AbFab movie may have just as many cameos. The long list of cameos includes: Jon Hamm, Baby Spice, Jerry Hall, Chris Colfer, Rebel Wilson, Gwendoline Christie, Cara Delawhatever, Graham Norton, Dame Edna, Stella McCartney, Alexa Chung, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Suki Waterhouse, Lily Cole, Jean Paul Gaultier and a zillion more.

. But the first official trailer gives us a more complete look at what Stone has done to the true story of this decade’s most infamous whistleblower.
The much-anticipated third season of the hugely influential TV show Twin Peaks has been shrouded in mystery ever since it began production last year. Despite many rumors and leaked onset photos, star Kyle Maclachlan was the only officially confirmed cast member--until now. The full, lengthy cast list has been revealed on the show's official Facebook page, and it includes a few surprises.
As expected, a large number of actors from the first two seasons will be returning, such as Sherilyn Fenn, David Duchovny, Miguel Ferrer, Dana Ashbrook, Everett McGill, and Sheryl Lee. Other familiar faces include Ray Wise, Grace Zabriskie, Kimmy Robertson, Michael Horse, and Richard Beymer.
There are quite a few famous names visiting the mystery-shrouded Washington town for the first time too. Robert Forster, Amanda Seyfried, Tom Sizemore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Naomi Watts had previously been rumored to be part of the cast, and they will be joined by the likes of Tim Roth, Ashley Judd, Michael Cera, Laura Dern, Monica Bellucci, Ernie Hudson, and James Belushi.
In keeping with co-creator and director David Lynch's tradition of casting musicians in his films, the new season of Twin Peaks will also feature the likes of Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, Sky Ferreira, and Sharon Van Etten.
In January, Showtime president David Nevins announced that the new season would premiere on the channel in early 2017. "I've seen 25 minutes of cut scenes," he revealed during the TV Critics Association press tour. "I was shown selections and bits. I have not seen an entire assembled episode. There are no assembled episodes yet. This was just to get a feel for various characters.
"I don't want to sit here and over-hype, but it was incredibly exciting. It definitely felt like you were in the hands of a master."
Twin Peaks originally ran for two seasons between 1990 and 1991, with the prequel movie Fire Walk With Me following in 1992.

I'm not sure headline limitations and economy allow for it, but "One last Uncharted 4 trailer for the last of us" was my initial joke, but then I felt like it'd take explanation and at that point you're pushing the boundaries of what is a "good" headline or not. I promise this is not a harbinger of another week of meta-writing writing where I write out every story by way of discussing the employed rhetorical devices, thanks and god bless.
The point is that "the last of us" flows grammatically, and is oft compared to The Road, thus becomes a stand-in in phrase "for the road." Look it makes sense to me but there's a reason I didn't do it, ok? Just let me have this long-winded explanation.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is coming to PlayStation 4 on May 10 after a final, brief delay. Last we saw Nathan Drake, a lot of boner jokes were involved, and we remembered that time that he was a Subway sandwich mascot because capitalism. ¡Ay, caramba!Nnobody better lay a finger on my butterfinger!

Back in 2012, a movie called Snow White and the Public Domain IP unexpectedly made almost $400 million. And that’s why today sees the release of a second film, Huntsman: The Contractual Obligation Movie (although for some reason the posters call it The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Go figure.) The Contractual Obligation Movie is about as bad as you’d expect, but it’s also surprisingly, insanely fun.
